The tube is the battery vent and prevents the acid from coming out to get in the battery space cavity. It vents to under the car.

Thanks for posting a video of how simple it is to replace the battery. But just an FYI..the negative jump start battery post in the engine bay is the little metal pin that was sticking up were you connected the neg jump clip to the frame. The pin is the dedicated ground terminal. Using something other than that may not actually ground your connections.
Another FYI…the gray tube in the battery compartment that had the little black elbow that connected to your battery is the vent tube that carries any off gasses produced by the battery to the exterior of the car. This is requires since the battery is in an enclosed space. There is another vent hole on the negative side of the battery…if you still have the little red terminal cover…look to see if there’s a break-off plug attached that you can use to plug the hole on the negative side of the battery (opposite of where you plugged in the car’s gray vent tube & connecting black elbow). When the battery is located in the engine bay…there’s enough air circulation to remove any off gasses from the battery…so venting or plugging any vent holes in the battery isn’t required. But when it is in an enclosed space, the battery should be vented and any additional vent holes should be plugged.

You didn't have to program the battery to the car?I have a 650 an that is the only reason I haven't done the battery replacement yet

He didn’t cover/mention it but yes, anytime you replace the battery the new battery should be registered. This will start a new baseline for the charging system. And if he had changed the type or battery spec (like from a 105 AH battery to a smaller 92 AH battery (or vice versa)…he would have needed to CODE those changes…then register the new battery.

@@trevishornsby7385 Yes, replace with like kind battery then it only requires registration…and if you have a tool or software that can register the battery you can save some money. Most registering apps/software is pretty simple to use.
