Can you imagine what life would be without the ability to comprehend, formulate, or express any feelings or thoughts? Can you imagine not being able to taste and swallow your favorite foods? Can you also imagine how satisfying it would be to help restore someone's communication or swallowing ability?

"Being able to see the potential in all individuals and know that they're able to do anything as long as they put their minds to it." YES! I'm an SLP student and this is so important in the field!
Are you a speech pathologist now?
God Willing! I will become the best speech pathologist ever.
After going through mannyyyy videos, this one definately convinced me of why i'd want to be s Speech Pathologist.
im currently a nursing major thinking about becoming an ot or slp I love children and Im still deciding but seeing the smile on ther faces brings me so much joy
I was a nurse started occupational therapy and did not like it. Am starting speech pathology next year. I find SLP complements my nursing training. I am biased towards speech pathology. However see if you can talk to an OT and SLP. Ask how each conducts initial assessments and what their day to day looks like. See which one you would be comfortable doing. Occupational therapy involves home modifications and can be a big part of the job. I found that class boring.SLP is a lot broader and complex and holistic than some health professionals realize as speech and language difficulties impact on so many different aspects of people’s lives. Nurses generally value SLP and always need them. As a nurse I did not have a good understanding of OT. I did not do my research well on OT.
This video helped me make my decision. I was between nursing, speech path, and occupational therapy. Thank you for posting this.
Glad it helped you!
I love this field so much! I just posted a Vlog as an SLPA. Such a rewarding field

Katrina Maree Have you considered becoming a Home Economist? You can work at home if you're okay with freelance.
You should definitely do what your heart desires. I think it may still be an excellent career choice
I am visually impaired. Can I become a speech pathologist?
I am a new Speech pathology student with an undergrad in nursing. I know that the Job entails more than the swallowing test. However can someone give me advice on how to do this on a real life patient as a student without passing out. I am terrified and excited. Communication and Swallowing is so important.
Nice overview
I’d be really grateful if someone tells me the requirements to get this job. Can I become a speech pathologist if I get my master’s in Linguistics? (I’m currently studying BA in English literature)
You’ll need a Master’s in Speech Pathology. There are prerequisite courses to qualify for the graduate program if you do not get a Bachelor’s in Communication Disorders so definitely look into completing those classes before you graduate
@@EP-uh9qf Great. Thanks for the information
