Not necessarily. My parents divorced when I was a toddler. No alimony or child support. No further contact except I did send a graduation announcement from HS and got a card back from his 2nd wife. Nothing from him. My half siblings found out about me after our father died and they found a picture of me as a baby in his things. I contacted a couple of them years later on facebook and exchanged a few emails but have never met them.

The DIL voice is usually the one suffering, but this time she is the evil one. The MIL voice is usually the narcissistic evil one, but not this time. Nice twist!

    One thing missing:
"OH, and just in case you think you can cash in on an inheritance if I die, soon, under mysterious circumstances, I think you should know that over the past three weeks, I DID consult a lawyer, and have already done ALL the paperwork necessary to legally cut Sebastian, Sully, and you off from ANY possibility of inheriting anything from me. Not only have I re-written my will to include an entirely different heir, whom I will NEVER reveal to you, but also made absolutely certain that the will is iron-clad, and that you have NO CHANCE of overturning it, or claiming that I forgot you, or anything. You are all three specifically DISINHERITED by me. If I die, and you sue for the inheritance, not only will you never get it, but you'll also waste a lot of time and money and lawyer and court fees in the process, AND I have it set up so that you'll ALSO have to pay the legal fees to the rightful heir, for wasting THEIR time in collecting THEIR rightful inheritance. So, you might as well NOT bother to arrange my untimely death, because it would only land you in deeper debt, and probably prison, anyway. Oh, yes, I have also consulted with a security expert, so even if you get past my security, there WILL be irrefutable proof. Just so you know. Goodbye, now! Have a BEAUTIFUL life without my ugly face in it."

    1) She committed FORGERY. So, it doesn't matter if her parents don't mind her doing anything. THE LAW doesn't care what you look like.
    2) "Since you're divorced, you're not Sebastian's mother, anymore." No. It's not a LEGAL divorce, since she didn't sign the papers, nor have it forced upon her by a judge, and also, DIVORCING A PARENT DOES NOT MEAN YOU'RE DIVORCED FROM THE CHILD. These are two separate relationships.
    3) Never trust hearsay! "Sebastian and Sully agreed!" "Did they? Then there will be no problem with me CONFIRMING that with them, directly, face-to-face, now, will there?" Seriously, I HATE it when the OP just takes the villain's word for it in these stories. But then again, in these stories, it almost always turns out that the villain is SO TRUTHFUL (when they're not committing forgery and other felonies) and the person DOES agree with them, but that's just bad writing.
    4) "You're not related to us, at all! Until you die, and then we inherit everything." No. You can have it one way or the other, but NOT BOTH. You divorce her, and say she's not a mother, anymore? That means NO INHERITANCE. And what would a RICH girl want with "some rando's" inheritance, anyway?
    5) HAHAHAHAHAA! "I did you a favor by fraudulently forcing the divorce." "Yep! You sure did!"

You can't divorce a parent. You can estrange them, but that's a blood or legal adoption tie. Especially in the case of blood, not even death can sever that tie. Half your DNA is one's parents. Their DNA will continue to all who come after you. Ergo, not even death can sever blood ties. You can estrange blood but tied forever.

I'm from the pre boomer gen. I took a computer class at the community college in 1975 (punch cards and all) when my employer first talked about automating. They didn't actually start until 1980 and I wound up training most of our staff. One of the supervisors was so afraid of automation he retired the day we turned everything on.
I was also our local office liason to the central IT staff until I retired 25 years later

I hope that the newlyweds marriage goes down the tube. She made think that she's beautiful on the outside but, is completely ugly inside.

    • @debbielmitchell4880

Not always. My ex and I had a mediated divorce. We met with an attorney (ex-judge in our case) and decided our details (property division, child support, alimony, everything). He didn't represent either of us - just mediated our discussions and made sure everything was legal. He handled all paperwork. We signed our final agreement & he submitted it to the court electronically. The judge at the court approved it, the clerk registered it, then emailed it back to our mediator, who emailed it to us. We never saw the judge.

I didn't. My ex and I shared an attorney. He did everything for us. It was over and filed with the court in a week.
