They got the phone call to join the project, and they created that arrangement in 2 days and then spent 3 days in the studio. Their Producer, Matt Squire, recorded all of Alessia Cara's vocal parts, via mobile, from Canada! Everything done in under a week!! Amazing
The record labels let The Warning sisters put together this arrangement and you have to give them credit because the sisters are still kids. Dany is the oldest at 21 and the other two are teenagers. Hell, Ale is only 16 and she has already recorded three albums. I have been listening to rock music since the 1950's and I have never seen anything like these three. Just amazing.
Metallica wanted artists to change the songs up. They told them to play them backwards or whatever they wanted to do with them. Nobody is going to buy an album with 6 bands trying to do note-for-note duplicates of 'Enter Sandman'. This is freakin' EPIC!
This is what happens when Metallica tells you to do with it what you will and The Warning had the balls to reinvent this iconic classic into the Rock lullaby it was originally written to be (creepy and demented as it was). The Warning kicked ass with it and it is a great change of pace. It will never be the original but but it is it's own masterpiece!
The idea was to start this version where Metallica left off. James finished with the refrain “take my my hand, we’re off to never never land”, so TW began with it, then brought it around full circle by the end of their arrangement. Where Metallica had a brute force version of this lullaby, TW took the feminine (motherly) approach to comforting the scared child. It was more soothing, even calm while keeping the heaviness of the original. Very well done ladies!
This is completely re-imagined, fantastic interpretation. Gives this a eerie, haunting, and surreal experience. Pau's horror movie neck twist and prayer creeps me out. This is what happens after the parents turn off the light and close the door.
Dany, Pau and Ale have always had a lot of talent, particularly in songwriting and arranging. But they are learning more all the time. I imagine they learned a lot working with David Bendeth on their third album, and likely other things from working with Matt Squire on this project. Doing their kind of music is about asserting what they want, but also listening to others. They showed a lot of skill in this working with Alessia Cara. When they announced this project, a lot of people were wondering how they’d get Alessia into the song, given her pop background. I knew they’d figure it out, and I knew they wouldn’t put out a weak track, but honestly they blew me away.
It grows on you. I completely understand the initial reaction for hardcore MetallicA fans, because it took me a while to disassociate myself from the original and my own personal expectations. But the more times I listened to it, the more I fell in love with it, to the point I absolutely love it.
They knocked this outa the arena/park/stratosphere So cool to watch them go full circle. Awesome how they brought Alessia into the rock genre. and was a great decision by their shared international manager to suggest they collab together to make this song. well you guys doing great and just Get Er Dun! lol cioa for now

They changed it up more than most artists on the Blacklist and it's paying big dividends for them. It's one of the most popular of the 53 songs on Blacklist. The only songs with more streams were released early. Fox Sports is playing the song during their broadcasts. And as of last night it has reached #11 on billboard.

FYI - Canadian singer and songwriter Alessia Cara has won 17 awards out of 73 nominations including a Grammy, a Juno, Fan Favorite at the MTV Awards and Best New Artist & Best Album in 2018. She's also signed with the same Promotion & Management Group as the Warning and since Alessia is in the POP arena ... they thought it would be an "interesting" mix
I would like to hear more collabs with The Warning and Alessia. It gives the sisters a chance to experiment with things a bit outside their regular songs. Given the success of this track I suspect the labels will be interested in getting more as well

Metallica was one of their inspirations since they were children so they have great respect for them. Dany in a instagram post was saying this song has always been in her soul. The way I see it they had already done a great almost note per note cover so they prob wanted to try their best to show Metallica what they helped inspire them to become. A strong band with their own sound which in my opinion they're best overall Rock/Metal trio in the business today. All 3 are multi-talented musicians all 3 sing. Thanks gentlemen for the reaction.
Exactly! So we’ll stated. They did exactly what Metallica hoped artists would do. This is a handoff from the classic to the current… enforcing the legacy of Metallica in a dark, foreboding lullaby/fairytale and allowing listeners of any age to be mesmerized by the telling. Absolutely beautiful.
I think there’s a reason that Metallica put this as the first track on their Blacklist album; they took Metallica’s instructions to make the song their own, and did a fantastic job of creating a new song that still pays homage to the original! 😎👍
Sorry, but it is pure coincidence. Enter Sandman is the first song on the original so called "Black Album" . They kept the order of the songs on the BlackLIST Album and the different versions are in alphabetical order of the artists' name. Thanks to the "C" in Alessia's name (Cara) it's the first track. No rating in there. But if otherwise, it would fit very well.

But...here's what really impressed me. Lars apparently told all the artists pick a song, do what you like with it, play it backwards if you want. The ladies played the last part of the original first, and first part last. And generally shuffled the arrangement. Nice reaction! I was disappointed with Weezer and Corey Taylor's covers personally. Feel they didn't bring much to their respective covers. But I do recommend listening to the whole album. i discovered a lot of artists I didn't know of on that album that made some great covers.

The project coordinators for metallic a requested the Bands not do straight covers, but to make it their own. They were given free range to reinvent the songs. The Warning did just that. Alessia Cara is a Grammy award winning pop singer from Canada. She has the same manager as the Warning.
