Thanks for watching! Have you been struggling with your hitting and have questions related to hitting? Please let me know in the comments below! :)
My right ear feels lonely
Now my left ear learned everything there is to know about spiking harder
People at my school say I cant do it but it motivates me to try.
People telling me I can't was a big motivator for me also. Keep on trying. You'll eventually get it.
You should’ve shown a clip of Yuji Nishida. His vertical is great and his spikes are powerful
And his form is insane he moves around like a leaf in the wind so smooth and impeccable
Ajith lal also
@@smalltricks2247 yeah
yeahhhhhhh another yuji fannnn
Thanks! That helped alot😀
Thanks this helped alot!
Thanks sir
It was helpful
Captain, how are you?
I want exercises to improve jumping and strengthen the attack
What do you recommend
Sir, we use medicine ball with bounce for torso activation and arm swing speed

How about when spiking directly downwards when there is an open space, how do I practice this? They usually spike the ball almost below the ten foot line, I have no idea how to do this
D Jay Here's a drill you could do to improve at hitting more down into the court. Place a target such as a ball bag or towel on the court. Stand on a platform at the net on the opposite side. Or if you don't have something to stand on, then lower the net. Toss a ball up and hit the ball down over the net. The goal is to hit the target (or in front of the target). Work to hit the ball in front of the target (the side closer to the net). If you can do this successfully, then make the drill more challenging by either 1) move the target closer to the net or 2) raise the net. When you do this drill, focus on extending your arm and shoulder up to the ball so you can contact the ball with a straight arm. Also, focus on wrapping your hand over the top of the ball. If you wrap your hand over the ball, you will create topspin and the ball will cross the net at a sharper angle down into the court. If you hit the ball flat (no topspin) the ball will land deeper in the court. Also, experiment with the contact position. For example, if your contact is way out in front, you won't be reaching as high when you make contact. A lot of times young players will be contacting the ball too far in front. This is usually because it feels more comfortable out in front because they aren't strong at hitting yet. Practice contacting at a higher point above the shoulder (not far out in front) and soon you will get more comfortable with this contact position.
Thanks it kinda helps
Nice work! This helps heaps
Glad it helped!
Please make a video on best arm swing to hit safely and accuratley
Thanks Chandra! I'll add this to my list videos to create!
Yeah...i struggle to chose a good armswing after watching good hitters
Hi, my problem is that I usually do left right and I'm right handed it's weird to do right left is it okay if it's left right? Or do I re learn it?
Yes, it's a hard habit to break. I would work to change it. It may not affect a middle hitter so much. But if you are an outside hitter, hitting out of the back row, or you have a topspin jump serve, you won't be able to broad jump if you don't change your steps. And it will be tough to hit a ball set off the net. It also affects hitting power and jumping height.
Can you give me tips on the motion of your arm when you’re jumping up for the spike then spiking along with getting the timing right as I’ve been told I kind of spin my hand a little bit when spiking which causes problems with my timing and I’ve been doing that for atleast a year now so can you give me tips on the spike motion and timing? Thanks
Bring both arms back as you plant to jump. As you are jumping up, the arms come forward and up. You can bring the spiking hand back above the head. This will help you get the arm vertical at contact. For timing, focus on starting the approach slow and quickly speed up your steps to get to the take off. To be good at timing, you need to become good at anticipating the ball. Watch the setter and the ball and focus on anticipating. You need many repetitions to become good at reading and anticipating.
@@DennisJacksonvts Thank you very much, another problem that I’ve also recently came across is when I do get good hits on the ball I keep hitting the net and I’ve been told that it’s because I keep swinging my arm straight down and I’ve been having this problem for a few games now and am struggling to change the way I spike. Any tips for this?
@@Sappk1 If you're spiking into the net, then you need to either contact the ball at a higher point or you need to jump more underneath the ball so you are reaching more up high and not so far out in front. Ideally you want to have a vertical arm and be reaching up as high as you can when you make contact.
@@DennisJacksonvts I understand, thank you very much, highly appreciate the tips
Hi where can I find this hitting Equipment on 1:07 ? Having this will really help me!!
It's a homemade spike trainer.
Where could I find one of those hitting trainer things that has the ball held above the net?
We made it out of pvc pipe. We use if for outdoor, in the grass and sand.
my issue is that i rotate and then hit - separately -not in one motion. so it is almost like jump squared to the net and then hit. an suggestion/practices for correction, Dennis?
If you're trying to rotate into the ball as you hit, then maybe try to approach the net at an angle and wait as long as you can before you rotate. It may be a tough habit to break, so you may need to really exaggerate the length of time you wait before turning into the ball. Exaggerate the time so you get a feel of the difference. If you wait longer I bet you start hitting the ball a lot harder.
@@DennisJacksonvts been tossing higher and higher. think i am getting better and better this way.
hey uh i have a wall, and i just practice top spin and slamming in against the wall as hard as i can, is that good practice? what else should i do..
You could jump before you hit the ball to the wall. After you do that for a while, take steps and plant and jump to hit. Always finish steps right-left if you are right handed.
@@DennisJacksonvts yup! ill try it tomorrow also my approach would be (im right handed) Right Left Right Left; correct? thanks for replying :)
@@edwarda1787 Yes! And you could just start with the last two steps first. Get in the habit of last two being right left. That's key.
How to jump for height what are the tips and how to hit the ball with more hard power
There are 5 things I think are important when it comes to jumping higher for hitting... 1) Quick big step to the ball 2) The double pump arm action. Arms go back as you take that quick big step, then quickly bring both arms forward as you are planting to jump, 3) Jumping more straight up and not flying forward too much, 4) Developing a consistent approach. If you have approached 100's of times the same way, you will gain inches just from the neuromuscular adaptation , 5) Contact the ball with a vertical arm (easily add height and power by using a vertical arm).
How spike to top left or right side!
Are you asking the difference between spiking down the line to the deep corner vs spiking the ball cross court?
Thank spike deep corner
what if I'm a right hander but I jump with left foot going first? (left right)
The last two steps should be right left. I don't recommend the other way because you lose forward momentum and it's hard on the knees and shoulder.
@@DennisJacksonvts Yes, this is very true, but some how I just ended up being like this at the beginning of my sports career. Mostly because I'm more of a basketball player than a volleyball player, I play 10 times for basketball than volleyball. So now I find it very hard to change my jump form, luckily I have high vert and upper body explosiveness so my spikes are still powerful.
@@jasonqiao3359 I was going to ask if you played basketball. Glad to hear you're having success.
I have trouble flying forward into the net when i hit
Work on bringing your arms back as you plant your jump. Your take off point needs to be closer to the net so you aren't jumping so much forward. You need to practice reading the set. The better you anticipate where the ball is being set, the better you will be at determining where you need to plant to jump.
my hand hurts so bad..
