Robin: “I already have a father.”
That line and seeing the bats fly over gives me chills. Always liked that moment!
Would have liked seeing him
@@painvillegaming4119 The Bat Embargo was rough, man.
@@smugsneasel I know 😭
@@painvillegaming4119 I mean it wasn’t necessary. Anyone who knows anything about Robin knows who his mentor was but omitting him from appearing on screen helped Robin stand out as his own character. He doesn’t need Batman to bail him out of trouble when a big name villain shows up because he’s no longer a sidekick.
Time stamp, please?
Slade is so salty and petty that when Dick went "I'm already adopted, jackass, I don't need your parental love", he ordered him to go steal from his dad.
just so you know, Slade is a DC Villain, in the comics he was called Deathstroke the Terminator but the network didn't want him named after Death, so they changed his name, and that name is his real name in the comics "Slade Wilson", he's a hired mercenary who has tried to kill Heroes like Batman and Green Arrow
fun fact: in the french dub, he was indeed called Deathstroke but since most kids didn't know english, the word "death" completely flew over their head. myself included.
If I’m not mistaken, the creator of Deathstroke/Slade also was responsible for Deadpool. Deadpool’s name is Wade Wilson, and he has a similar healing factor to Deathstroke. I think Deadpool was meant to be a parody of Slade, but I admit I’m not enough of an expert on DC or Marvel to say for certain.
@@DrSuperLuigiSeth1He's not. Deadpool was created by Rob Liefeld, and Rob has a history of creating blatant copies of characters and just changing enough details to not be plagiarism. It's why Deadpool's name is "Wade Wilson" since Deathstroke's was "Slade Wilson". When he first debuted in the pages of X-Force, he pretty much WAS just Slade, being serious and no nonsense. Its later writers that decided to turn Deadpool into the "Merc with a Mouth" we all know and love.
@@chainsofenkidu2057 He should have changed the name to Wade Winston. More parady-esque.
The issue isn't that you're missing out on the intro, the thing that people were saying is that the show has a little quirk where if the episode is goofy and lighthearted then it will have the Japanese version of the opening, and otherwise it will be english. So it's like a fun preview.
Its been 20 years since i seen this show and even I didnt kno that😭
Wow , the more you know 😭
they figured it out on in their later videos on patreon, don’t worry :)
holy shit i never knew that😭
Not always sometimes they use the English theme for goofy episodes, Mama Mia used the English theme.
Slade and Dick's rivalry is an all-time favourite of mine, and it's great to Teen Titans actually incorporate it properly in terms of the sheer obsession they both had with one another
Yeah, modern writers like to try to pair slade and batman a lot - but slade has always been *robin's* villain, and the teen titans in general - not batman's.
@@jaernihiltheus7817 After everything with Bludhaven and even recently Dark Crisis, it's clear Slade loves to torment him as Nightwing just as much, so I’d say he doesn't even stop at being Robin's villain
Also, DC loves shoving characters into groups to make them more popular (like Deathstroke, Cyborg, Harley) so it does get annoying when people know him as “Batman's Villain” as opposed to Dick's
I don’t think it’s been confirmed that it’s dick is it?
Aww, Raven bonding with Cyborg and smiling is HUGE!!! 😊
Speaking of Batman, if you guys like this you would love Batman: the animated series. Mark Hamill was the Joker in that. There isn’t really any main story but the episodes are very entertaining and it does have continuity and some movies.
It's not bad, but I think they'd like "The batman" animated show better. It's well written and can really strike fellings ,like when Bruce's chilhood friend slowly went from a police officer helping batman to becoming one of the most iconic supervillain ( clayface)+the intros are bangers.
Batman: the Animated Series is tied with Teen Titans as my absolute favorite DC series. I always lump them together when talking great animated shows in general.
Given how Robin handles the Slade bots in the warehouse as well as holding off his team in a 1v4, it's clear that he is the leader for a reason
💯
Guys Batman pays for multiple things that help the city in different ways besides him fighting criminals
Bro makes the hellfire that is gotham a little less hell wearing or not the mask
@@JorgeLuiz487 I’ll be honest, Gotham is literally cursed and has been ran by a cult for hundreds of years, we need to just burn it down and leave the land forever
He could pay for more.
You're missing the point, they're not talking about him buying things they're talking about him using his influence and connections to take out corrupt individuals like Lex Luther people with ACTUAL power of control not just insane supervillains.
@@Dreadpoolz3977 Lex has more connections than Batman outside of the superhero world and just as much money, as for other corrupt politicians or officials Batman already takes them down whenever he gets the chance so I believe my argument stands
A reminder that English subtitles in English shows are mostly intended for the hearing impaired, so including “music continues” and sound effects like “pew” and “boom” are more for them than just dialogue
Also, "subtitles" in English with more than dialogue are called closed captions. (There are also open captions, which you can't turn off.) No one knows the difference anymore and complains about them.
Adding on: To be fair, this is a very weird captioner that I've seen a bit. This company doesn't use commas at the end of captions (old error because commas used to look like periods on old Line 21 caption fonts), unnecessarily puts single quotation marks around offscreen dialogue (we have italics, and even that would be a misuse; this isn't Teletext), and doesn't include brackets in onomatopoeia (this captioner only uses them on children's programs).
Slade despises Batman so making Robin his apprentice would be the ultimate middle finger.
I mean, kinda? xD @@Kladyos
Yeah, I think Starfire's innocent behavior can sometimes lead people to think she's on the simpler side, though I'd also argue that her ignorance of human cultures helps in that a lot. Girl drinks mustard willingly after all. But she is definitely smarter than she seems.
There's also the stereotype that comes with speaking in a second or third language that you come off a little slower as you have to take a little more time to process so you don't make major grammar mistakes.
"Everything is going to be fine Billy" hits different after the recent adventure time reactions.
Also people were probably pressed because you skipped the Japanese version of the intro. Teen titans changes the intro depending on the episode, if it's a fun filler episode, it will be in Japanese
What happened ?
Everything was indeed not fine for Billy. XD
Wow I didn’t know that 😢
@@jaxcraft2848 oh….now I get it
They lied to me, things weren't fine
The similarities between Slade & Batman were completely intentional
Honestly, I think the original series or The Batman (2000s) series is a good start. They give a nice origin to one of the Robins and Batgirl along with many villains.
This is not a spoiler. Slade is Deathstroke. They will never bring it up in the show, but that's who he is. He's also in the live action show Arrow.
(At 9:38) You *do* know he's a super soldier right? Despite changing his name to keep a kid friendly, There's a reason why Deathstroke is called "The Terminator."
Young justice would be a great reaction to follow this show.
Or hear me out justice league unlimited would be amazing I've never seen anyone react to that show and man was that shit fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥
@@bulklockethegrimheadNetwork nothing you said is wrong, but young Justice would help with the lack of DC general knowledge in the group. And let them know more about the characters they are already connected to. But 100% all of the animated DC adventures
@@bulklockethegrimheadNetwork Justice League first then Justice League Unlimited
@@Kickinthesciencethe episode where Savage took over the world and Superman was happy to see Batman again was adorable
2:54 "everybody is Robin." That reminds me that the episode where everybody is Robin is actually fire and hilarious.
"Everybody's robin!"
Remember that for later
Im pretty sure Slade is supposed to be an allegory for predators, he has uncanny "creep" energy when talking to robin like "good boy" and "call me master"
I think the reason messed-up episode orders are so prevalent with the cartoons you watch is because cartoons used to be very episodic, specifically so you could air every episode at any given time. Remember, serialized storytelling in cartoons is a fairly recent thing, so before that the episode order didn't really matter.
Also, I would say to try out the Animated Series if you want to dive into Batman; it's a great show that delves into the character in a lot of interesting ways.
Iirc, these aren't out of order. I'm pretty sure every season has a 'cool down' episode after the serious finale. The team made a lot of decisions to try to cater to kids, and not leaving the season on a dour note was part of that
I love Raven and her "one shot" big smile 😊 33:49
The Batman (2004) is good start for Batman series , there’s a theory that teen titan exist in the same world as the Batman 2004 since the Robins look the same .
It also has in common that their intros go hard for no reason
It’s most likely the same artist who worked on both of them.
Slade is not Batman.
Slade is Deathstroke. They couldn't call him DEATH stroke though, so they just used his actual name, Slade Wilson.
And there's killer moth and brother blood
Starfire is ignorant because she's an alien but not stupid...
To answer your question about why cartoons used to air out of order: before streaming services and modern internet, channels like cartoon network super discouraged continuous stories in thier shows because they wanted anybody to be able to jump in at any point and understand what was happening. Plus they wanted the ability to show reruns of popular episodes out of order, or more often, episodes that taught kids moral lessons. Until around the 2010's, around the time of gravity falls, most networks would refuse to fund anything that wasnt episodic
I swear this theme song and the cowboy bebop song S tier
Slade Wilson/ Deathstroke is a Batman villain, so ill be kinda weird for Bruce to disguise himself as Slade when he could just pop in himself.
He's actually a Titans villian. He doesn't really have an exclusive hero besides them, especially not Batman.
@@TheSaharay1 Thanks for clearing it up.
@@TheSaharay1It’s more like Batman and the Titans are ‘Slade Heroes’. Slade is sort of unique in not belonging to any one rouges gallery within the DC Universe.
This is a different Universe,Slade in this show doesn't have to be Like the Original deathstroke(Slade wilson) in this universe.
@@SupportGamin2024 Oh, okay, is this the Marvel universe then?
I was speaking generally, my friend.
That was so nice and wholesome that Raven went on with him to the end not only a little im sorry moment!
Fun note: if the intro is in English, it is a serious episode. If it's in Japanese, it's a goofy episode. So keep a listen
21:50
"He doesnt have any friends"
The most damage robin did to slade in the whole episode
Now I’m remembering why Slade scared the shit out of me when I was a kid
Slade AKA Deathstroke was the teen titans original villain
The reason why cartoons tend to be aired out of order more often is because live actions shows can usually only really make one episode at a time whereas several episodes of a cartoon can theoretically be in production at the same time so if it gets to the point where for whatever reason the next episode isn’t ready networks will often just demand that whatever episode is ready be aired instead.
Plus especially in the 80’s to early 2000’s a lot of production companies kinda looked down on cartoons and the idea of an overarching storyline so we’re generally less careful about ensuing that the right episodes come out in the right order
“Low level street thugs”
Me:Darkseid, joker, the court of owls, batmetal
Yeah street level 😂
Batman and an evil god took each other out simultaneously but it's always "he dresses like a bat and beats on poor people."
19:21 correction his beef is with the bat that why he had him Rob Wayne tech
This man Slade is a MENACE! And guess what. He has the same voice actor as the Lich!
Batman does stop corporate crime, he actually does use his riches to make Gotham better but Gothams a lost cause
15:20 I swear I hate this freaking idea that has like no basis in… any continuity beyond the realm of Twitter. Bruce Wayne is _constantly_ donating to charities and funding public works programs. Gotham is _just that messed up_ .
Literally. The one criticism for people trying to seem so above it all, cultured and snarky for hating Batman, and it is not true in any capacity, and has never been true in the 85 years of his existence.
There are 2 intros. The english one the majority of the time and the Japanese version for silly or (questionably) filler episodes.
If yall want to get into batman i HIGHLY recommend "Batman: The Animated Series", from the 90s. Its a fantastic show and is a great entry point for all thing batman in my opinion. I'd love to see you guys give the show a try.
Then after they finished watching that(plus the others DCAU shows) then they can try watching the 2004 animated Batman show(called The Batman) and Beware the Batman (a very underrated CGI Batman show).
15:27 A yes, Falcone the mafia boss, a low level street thug, most his villains count most as terrorist than thugs, plus his whole thing is fighting criminals that manipulate the system to their advantage.
It is pretty funny to say "I haven't watched batman stuff" and then proceed to give the same take it's given on comic book twitter every week
Exactly
Not to mention the man helps save the world from alien invasions, and multiversal threats, alongside the Justice League.
@@Mike_Dubo Yeah, but he doesn't stupidly throw money at a city that would give it to a crime lord instead of, I dunno, an orphanage, so batman is dumb.
And the whole "Batman has the power to stop serious financial crimes but instead he" just stop it right there, because he does. He does the thing which is the only criticism they have of him for not doing. Literally zero knowledge on the character but ok hat man speak like an expert because you can immediately trust second hand and clearly biased knowledge you heard once on comic book twitter.
@@billbill6094 it's just a dumb criticism overall, and the worst part is that it's beginning to appear in official stuff *cough* the flash *cough*.
People feel so smart when pointing it out too, which is the worst part.
So in the comics slades real name is slade Wilson; his villian name is death stroke but corporate decided that name was too dark for a kids cartoon
After teen titans you’ve got to watch young justice
Slade Wilson also known as Deathstroke is a terrifying member of the League of shadows you could see it all in these fights
Slade is NOT Batman
They know
Let them theorize 😂
0:24: "Good luck, Billy!" is CRAZY! 😂
‘Slade’ (cus Deathstroke can’t be said on a Saturday morning cartoon) is supposed to have grey hair!
He’s always had grey hair even as a 20 year old when he first got his powers.
There's no reason to assume Bruce isn't doing a lot of philanthropic work as well. It's just a detail that isn't relevant to most Batman stories and frankly _everything_ he does is a band-aid measure because Gotham is so bjorked in the first place.
Would anyone like to see Jackie Chan Adventures, Transformers Prime, Swat Kats and Gargoyles on here?
jackie chan adventure's is a fucking wild ride. i'd like to see them react to that.
TFP all day
Transformers prime was great
Gargoyles needs more exposure
i"d also like if they reacted to Sonic X (Dub)
In case NOBODY has said it yet, Slade Wilson/Deathstroke is a Batman villain😅 He PROBABLY wants Robin as a weapon to take down Batman…probably?🤔
Correction: he was a Titans villain FIRST😅 My bad.
He is a Titan villain who became a Batman villain but he probably ran into the bat here
He's not a Batman villain. He's a Dick Grayson/Titans villain
It's less that Slade has an obsession with Robin, and more like he's just a generally abusive and manipulative person. The shit he does in the comics is so bad I don't think a 100% accurate portrayal of just how bad he can be would be allowed to air on television. He's like the Joker in that sense. There are some lines he crosses that are just too much.
If you're looking to gain Batman knowledge, I would start with 1992's Batman the Animated Series, which eventually leads to Superman, and then the rest of the Justice League. In short, it will help you gain a condensed, but overall broad understanding of DC comic book characters.
For the Batman start, where better to start than The Animated Series from the 1990s
That or brave and the bold to get a idea of how bunker it was back in the 60s
Batman would never pretend to be Slade or anything like that to teach Robin a lesson. Also Deathstroke is already his own character. Bruce and Dick love each other like Father and son. Even though they may not have the closest relationship anymore after their argument, Batman is one of the most true to his word heroes in the DC universe.
I always wondered for years what is Slades true identity and why he acts the way he does?
20 years later and that season finale is still LEGENDARY HOLY SHIT 💯💯
Yoo just refreshed the page and now this is here! 🎉
Love Teen Titans. Starfire's sneezes are a blast and she has a weird allergy. I have Teens Titans on DVD Divide and Conquer is the first episode and Final Exam is the third episode. Also have Trouble In Tokyo and Teen Titans vs. Teen Titans Go! A must watch. How did street punks steal a state of the art car like getting past a advanced car alarm and the unpickable club?
Yo, Boom talking things Bruce Wayne already do with his money, just like a layman just proves he is a Marvel guy
But he definitely would call someone an idiot for making that statement with Iron Man or Reed Richards.
4:27 Funny enough, We are actually not far off from being able to enhance images in a science fiction way.
AI imaging isn't just useful for art theft and generation, or cleaning up your photos.
"The Apprentice" episode was not only the season 1 finale, but the wrap up to Robin's character development arc. Also, Cyborg basically made his own Tesla car. Elon Musk should sue him lol 😂
What on earth did he say at 13:52!?
There are 2 Teen Titans openings.
One for goofy episodes and one for series ones.
The T-Car episode is one of those episodes that tell you "they may be super heroes, but they are still teenagers"
Slade obsession with Robin kinda stem to his comic counterpart. *Cough-the judas contract-Cough*
I think the reason why Slade wants Robin is to get back at Batman. He kinda is a Batman villain under a different name and my DC knowledge is limited but a lot of villains try to get Robin to get back at Batman.
If you want what many fans would describe as the definitive Batman experience Batman The Animated Series with Kevin Conroy y Mark Hamill are the way to go
Don't forget the introduction to Red Hood if you're introducing her to Batman
"What did Mad Mod do tho?"
Kidnapping, torture, attempted murder, attempted BRAINWASHING.
The only reason we ask you to watch the theme song for this specific show is because of the language hinting at the episode’s nature. You can skip it once you realize what the language is but the general rule is:
Singing in English: Business as usual
Singing in Japanese: Things are gonna get weird.
Singing in Japanese by a different person…? You are not prepared for the oddities you will witness…
7:35 Bruh lmao
Robin is going crazy to catch Slade. Everyone compared to him as Slade because of the way he acted like him. Slade is threatened to kill his friends if he become his apprentice. He's so dark and evil
😱😱😱👿👿👿
Can't wait for them to get to Kitty's prom episode. I love how jealous starfire gets
I think you're pretty accurate on the random episode drop, cause a show has to have a certain number of episodes (usually somewhere between 60-100) in order to recieve syndication, meaning it'll essentially be broadcast in the future for reruns on that channel and elsewhere, so it's often in a show's best interests to hit that syndication cap. It's why back in the day a lot of shows would have like, a single season of like, 65 episodes and half of them be monster of the week filler.
Yo wanna start with Batman lord, I’d suggest Batman the animated series. It’s not only a fan favorite but imo the way superhero cartoons should be done
For some reason every time you guys theorize about Slade being Batman all I can think of is that one comic page I've seen on Tumblr from some DC comic where Superman was mistaken for Bruce Wayne while Deathstroke (aka Slade Wilson, aka the same Slade as we see in Teen Titans) tried to assassinate Bruce Wayne by poisoning him before going in with a sword when the poison didn't do the job (since it's actually Superman, it only left him somewhat inebriated)
Superman just broke this man's sword and went "Ta-da! Sard borken" and flicked him miles off the yacht they were on XDD
So yeah, anyways, Slade is not Batman, he's one of his villains XD
You guys should ABSOLUTELY watch Batman: The Animated Series. It was a phenomenal show for its time (and its still great) and it will introduce you to all the various Batman knowledge you might not lack. As a bonus that show flows nicely into Superman, Justice League, etc if you wanted to go that route.
Slade is such a good villain!
Grabbing my popcorn for this
24:20 It does happen more with cartoons, but it's not exclusive to them. Firefly was shafted in the exact same way
i know this is late but if i recall car trouble or whatever the last ep was called, at least where i lived, aired as part of a special block of new episodes on cartoon network. each day of the week they aired a new ep and this was it for teen titans. I think that's why they rearranged it so they could have something to air for teen titans without interrupting the weekly schedule at the time or making people wait for the second part of Apprentice. I don't think it makes a lot of sense but it's what I remember from when it aired when I was a kid
Not sure if Boom's comment on Batman not doing enough to stop crime was bait or not...
😂
2:43 “everybody’s Robin!”
Not yet… but soon…
The End of Season 1 and with it, the End of the Slade Arc, but not the Slade Saga.
Hehehe, can’t wait to see what you think of what’s next in store.
Presumably Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash, Green Lantern and all of the other adult superheroes are out there doin' their thing, but this show is about the Teen Titans.
“What is up with shows just releasing an episode out of order? It seems like a cartoon thing but why?”
*laughs and cries in Firefly*
I was literally watching this and saying "There was an episode after Apprentice?" The order of this show is so strange
You guys should watch Batman: The Animated series with Bree. It's SO GOOD. freaking iconic, plus it ties into the justice leauge cartoons if you're interested. Also: I know you guys are joking but considering how many people unironically make the "batman should use his wealth instead of fighting supervillains" argument, I feel the need to point out that the comics make a point to show that batman puts just as much effort into using his wealth to better gotham and the world and he puts into fighting crime.
I know it's not any of the movies, but, Batman The Animated Series is REALLY good. Hell, it's what gave us Harley Quinn and what revamped Mister Freeze into a much more tragic character. All of the DC Animated Universe shows are good, but, people usually talk about Batman and Justice League.
The intro song language changes based on the tone of the episode. The intro to serious episodes are in English and when the episodes are silly the intro is in Japanese as well as contains nonsensical lyrics.
The visceral pain at the treatment of the T-Car is delightful.
Ngl I was heavily convinced Slade was Batman when I first watched it
The thing with episodes out of order is because of network issues. Normally the episodes are done in a specific order but the network doesnt care of screw things up when releasing the eps to tv, or simply wanted to get something to fill space while the big guns episodes were being worked on regardless of continuity. It happens a lot on Ben 10 for some reason :V and older cartoons that are harder to get them organized right
About the intros, like people are saying, it's usually just a neat sign of whether or not the upcoming episode will be especially silly or not (if it's an especially silly/crazy/funny episode the intro will generally be in Japanese)
Beyond that, there's like 2 episodes or so that I remember having slightly altered intros that would be worth paying attention to, those episodes being Season 2 Episode 11 (Fractured) and Season 5 Episode 8 (Lightspeed)
In a way Slade WIlson (DeathStroke) is to Dick Grayson (Robin/Nightwing) what Joker is to Batman. And in the comics Slade has a weird thing with protegées and kids. Who read the comics knows it.
If I had to guess episode 11 being aired after the finale was to keep from disrupting the flow of the lead up to the finale with Slade. Having a filler episode in the middle of that would probably have been rough for people watching as it came out (and for binge watching, which would be why the blue ray follows the release order, not the episode ID). There are a few reasons why 11 might have been numbered that way for syndication and episode ID though, including it possibly being a pre-made filler to flush out their episode order (show production back-end is weird, doubly so for animation) and was numbered 11 in case they had to break it out while finishing up 12+13, or possibly the finale/lead-up was originally intended to be shorter but grew in scope and they might have gotten additional episodes ordered by the network to cover it. I can't be sure without talking to someone that was actually involved in the process though, it can be hard to find reliable info about those sort of inside details.
Slade is my favorite character in this show and Ron Pearlman was meant to voice him.
The Slade is Batman thoury. Tacks me back.😂
5:38 i just know someone's gonna meme this with the caption stop resisting.
