Your clips in our country are great. 😊 I would guess the reason why the tour guide told you it's illegal (I am not sure it actually it, it's simply considered sort of vandalism to bathe in that lake) - imagine if even 1/10th of the people who go up would bathe in it. Then, it would no longer have the clear water you admired, people would scrounge the bottom, bring up the mud, there would be a need for showers, a need for rescuers just in case someone who's not a good swimmer decides to try their luck, and so on. There are a number of great mountain roads, the Transfagarasan is the most famous of course, but there's the Transalpina too, also called "the King's road" (because it was reconstructed by king Carol II), which apparently might have been first built during the Roman invasion of Dacia (so about 1900 years ago). Transalpina is also the tallest road in Romania, going up slightly more than the Transfagarasan. There's also the Transrarau, nicknamed the "Road of the Treasures", way north-east in Bucovina, which is not as tall as either the Transfagarasan or the Transalpina (because the Rarau mountains, which it crosses, are "only" about 1600m tall), but is really spectacular and beautiful as well, and passes by some local landmarks such as the Lady's Stones. Hopefully you'll also visit the Danube Delta, it's Europe's nicest and best protected river delta. There are things like motorboat tours there, but also very old fisherman villages, unique communities (such as that of the Russian Lipovans, also known as "old believers" - a group of Russian emigrants who settled in Romania, Moldova, Bulgaria and Ukraine in the 17th and 18th century, after having been persecuted by none other than Tsar Peter the Great himself - or Tatars, the descendents of the Nogai Horde that once terrorized Europe (don't worry, these descendants are very peaceful nowadays), though to be fair these are in larger numbers in Constanta county, south of the Delta, but there are some communities in the Delta as well. Maramures wooden churches would also definitely be recommendable, both because they're UNESCO World Heritage sites, the tallest wooden churches in the world, and because the scenery there is also breathtaking, plus you'd get a glimpse into the archaic life of the people of that region, which they strive to keep alive as much as they can, with the old crafts and all that. Either way, irrespective of what you choose to visit next, keep staying awesome, you two. 😊 PS: the highest point you were at was 2042 meters on the Transfagarasan highway. I have no idea how much that is in feet, but in miles it's almost 1.3 miles above sea level.
We are so happy you are enjoying them! We love filming Romania, it is such a wonderful place! Thank you so much for all the great information and recommendations :) we appreciate it so much!

Imagine that valley u just climbed up and the lake is the result of a ancient glacier the make his way down. The reason u saw a total diffrent weather on the other side of the mountain is directly related with the air , the mountain acts like a natural barrier to retain the moisture in the air in one side of it, depends the wind direction
@@JacobandJennyTravel What you experienced with the weather change ....that was not fog,but clouds,as the other commenter said, stopped by the mountains,so on one side is sunshine,on the other side accumulated clouds.

It is a story (which might be true) about Vlad Tepes alias "Dracula". Because the punishments were drastic, crime had reached zero. At a fountain they put a cup from which passers-by drank water, and the cup was made of gold. Nobody steals it. On the day when the golden cup was stolen, people understood that Vlad Tepes was no longer the ruler.
i went with the aerial tramway from balea-lac to balea-cascada there (on the northern side of the transfagarasan), and it is just amazing.. especially when you descend, there is that one tower on the edge of a cliff, the cables going straight down on the other side.. that tower gives you the butterflies in your stomach when you pass over it.. and the views.. 10/10

I remember the first time I went here, it was in 2003, I was in grad school. The bus stopped at the base of the mountain, where the cable machine was. It was so warm there that we all forgot to take jackets with us. After 5-10 minutes the cabin took us at that cold lake, there was snow, a lot of it and we had only slim trousers and t-shirts. many people died due to thermic shock when they took a bath in the Balea Lake, so they might have made it illegal... but I am sure you would not get arrested if you did it... they just say it's illegal so that in case you die it's not their fault :)

@@JacobandJennyTravel Btw, you were not lucky with the weather, the Transfagarasan is much more beautiful when the sun is strong and there is no fog or clouds. Mb next time :)
Bears are normally wary of people, but if a bear finds food without getting frightened away, he may come back for more. Each time this happens, he can become less fearful-and this habituation can lead to problems. Often in Romania the bears are coming down in villages or even cities and "get themselves" the free food . Peoples need to stop feeding them but unfortunately this is not happening and cause many issues ...
Giving food to bears finally leads them get killed by humans because they have to. They get too confortable to people, come down to village to search for food and kill their dogs and animals from farms, they can be seen also on streets, they became a threat and finally got shot by police in the worst scenario if they can't shot them with a sleeping shot and get them back to forest.

Thanks friends!! Romania is incredible!🙌🏼
Welcome to my beautiful Romania (07:34 2400 meters is exactly 7874 feet)
Thank you so much :)
many people died due to thermic shock when they took a bath in the Balea Lake, so they might have made it illegal... but I am sure you would not get arrested if you did it... they just say it's illegal so that in case you die it's not their fault :)
That is good to know!! Thanks for the information :)
I love it 😊❤
Thank you so much!! 😊
Bears are to lazy to climb in top of the mountain , specially when tourists teach them with free food if they stay on the street and "beg"for it
This definitely makes sense! Thanks for watching :)
Hi,
Amazing video. In what was this trip ?
Thanks
Thank you so much! We went in September :)
Hello J & J, What airlines do you recommend for a Norway trip? I'm thinking about visiting for the first time in Dec. Just got back from Dubai &;The Maldives 3 days ago. Great Videos as usual. Thnx in advance
Wow that sounds so amazing!! We like SAS airlines and FinnAir is great too if you fly into Helsinki then to Tromso :) and thanks so much!
I dont understand why all foreigners climb transfagarasan from south to north. Starting from Transilvania makes it so much better.
We will have to try that next time! :)
There’s no such thing as vampires in Romania,i’ve been here for 275 years and never saw one.
Haha that is good to know 🧛🏻♀️
Kürtosh / Langosh the real pronunciation! ( Actually Hungarian traditional products - but popular in Romania also !)
Good to know! Thanks for the information :)
Are you guys going to Sighișoara or Sibiu too?
Not this time, but hopefully we will be back soon and we could go then!🙌🏼
Before eating that corn, which is healthy and tastes good, be aware it will accelerate your digestion and you will need a toilet in the next 30-40 minutes.
Hahaha, thankfully that didn't happen while we were driving 🙌🏼 thank you for the heads up!
I saw that bear with 3 legs when I was there
Whoa that is crazy!! Thanks for watching :)
😍❤
♥️
The thing about Vlad Tepes is a bit wrong. I would suggest doing a bit more research beforehand :)
Interesting! That is what our tour guide told us so we just believed it since she has lived in Romania her whole life :) thanks for watching friend!
If you have the time go to Bucovina.
We will look it up! Thanks for the recommendation :)
❤
❤️❤️ thanks so much for your support!
You two guys promote our country better than the current government does, I hope you will run for next year's elections, I will vote for you and I hope you will become ministers here :))
The current government like the previous ones are working to make us poor and go extinct.
Haha thank you so much for your kind words! It is easy to talk good about Romania, it is such an amazing place 🙌🏼
Yes this makes sense. It is so sad they are becoming reliant on humans. Thanks for your comment!
❤ 👍
♥️🇷🇴
Giving food to bears finally leads them get killed by humans because they have to. They get too confortable to people, come down to village to search for food and kill their dogs and animals from farms, they can be seen also on streets, they became a threat and finally got shot by police in the worst scenario if they can't shot them with a sleeping shot and get them back to forest.
Yes we agree, it was so sad to see the bears begging like that.
