It would be cool hearing you talk about the difference between a vertical pull and a horizontal pull. People always talk about vertical pulls creating width and horizontal creating thickness. Awesome channel 👍
After seeing all these videos of Mike. I was feeling bad after all these years. Thinking about it now… I see it now as just fine tuning. Getting better at my craft. 💪🏼
Hey Big Mike just wanted to give you Kudos. I think you probably have the best training channel I've ever seen. Like how you show all kind of options for the same goal. Where I live there are no good gyms so I just do the best I can with a basic home gym setup. Also like how you emphasize proper form, angles/positioning being EVERYTHING and the Mind Muscle connection. Stay healthy and hope you and all your clients/subscribers have a great week as we head out of January.
Mike your explanations of getting full extension, dropping shoulder, breaking elbow, and head position are huge details! Made a big difference in helping me achieve that mind muscle connection. Thank you big man! 👍
Watching these videos made me pay more attention to my back movement and after a while even my chiropractor said "you getting bigger mate, look at those lats!". I also find this channel very motivating.
Big Mike has changed my back game overnight! I’ve implemented the movement through fully opening the muscle groups and then squeezing through. I feel the lifts more now
People need to become humble with the lbs they're using. Majority is momentum and 6 other muscles moving the weight. Drop the ego & the lbs get the method and intent right and your physique will greatly benefit PERIOD!!! GOOD STUFF MIKE 💪💪
Sick, sick Sunday school body building class! I've tried every exercise that you have showed us in this back session, and the stretch to go along with it, my lats are screaming right now! Your knowledge and teaching and simply put... 5 star! Thank you again. Like someone else mentioned best channel in the buisness!
For real though my guy. Its crazy how long I've been lifting and I have improved so much just from listening to your cues. Back day has been my favorite day forever but you made them better and I mean that sincerely. Good lookn out Mike! Appreciate you big dog
These concepts of freeing up your body with these exercises are amazing man I’ve been incorporating this into my workouts and the pumps have never been better and my muscles feel exhausted not my joints.. great work Big Mike 🤙🏽
It's crazy to really go in the gym and try to apply these concepts!!! Just the connection to the muscle hits so different than im used to. This guys is super knowledgeable!
A masterclass on back develepmont. Tomorrow it's my back day and i'll put to work Mike's teachings. I really appreciate and thans this video gem that Big Mike gifted to us.
Seeing this makes me happy to know that I’ve been able to engage my back well enough. It’s super easy to break connection with your back, especially when you start from the top and bringing it down. Glad to know there’s knowledgeable people out there that actually want to show proper technique.
Can u do a video or talk bout lats movements with a typical lat bar as most gyms I go to don't have any of the machines u use they have ton of bars like the straight bar with the ends curve down and the close grip bar the little triangle bar. Can u show how to use them
@@Noughtnowknoteva hell yeah thanks a bunch. Really appreciate that. Also thanks for the videos and advice. Ur stuff is unlike anyone else . Wish u the best in ur endeavors
Hi..Mike i am from India... you are just too good... The way you teach & explain the angles.... Variations, sets, reps... had changed my training style... In these many years... My body has changed a lot... All credits goes to you...🤗 Just one request as loads of people around the world must be watching your training style... And we in India don't have these high-tech gyms & so many varieties of machines with different angles & grips... like you have in your gyms... So it would be really appreciated if you shows us 2nd or 3rd options if we don't have the same machine or angles... Still we can train with basics machine & dumbles... And make big gains... Thank a lots... Mike... Namaste from India...🇮🇳🤗
I’ve been training the extension part just like this for the last three months now. Most strength and size gain in my 35 years of lifting and I’m 46 now. It’s blown my lats up.
Hey Mike I've been working out for about 4yrs now and stumble across your you tube. You've helped me understand what muscles activate with what machines and how to position myself to get that muscle to grow. The last 4 trainers I've paid never taught me really the understanding of the machines thanks for your knowledge. Also how many reps and sets should I be doing to continue to grow
I had a weird right elbow while preforming certain exercises, since implementing Mike's knowledge I don't get that elbow pain anymore , or right shoulder pain I used to have. I was being taught to be damn statue while exercising. Your truly inspirational thanks
I get Mike's mostly talking from what he sees from other bodybuilders, but to most guys in the gym, that's giving dudes a lot of credit for how they train back. Most guys really only train the upper third of their lat. You will see them maneuver themselves on machines, thinking they're better isolating their lat, when they're really doing the opposite. Ever since I learned how to actually engage and train my entire lat, through Mike's videos, and I'll shout out the Hypertrophy Coach too, I just get disgusted seeing how others train back.
I’ve noticed that when I allow my shoulders to extend and fully lengthen as you demonstrate that it makes the movement much harder and I can’t do as many reps. Which tells me I’m recruiting more muscle in the movement thus taxing the muscle more bc Time under tension is now a bit longer. Another thing I’ve noticed is that I have to slow the movement down just a tad in order to control the weight thru the longer ROM. Great stuff Mike!
Amazing tips 👌 I do most of this already, but i always wondered if I'm "too dynamic"; especially based on many people's concept of targetting the muscle, proper form, etc.
Everything this guy says, makes sense to me. I can’t believe he puts all this content out for free. I mean you can literally watch him instructional videos and improve your training immediately.
I come from a powerlifting background and we're used to breaking our balls on working sets (sometimes at the cost of form for progression). I'm trying to figure out just how much weight I should use for my working set with your approach? If my working set is 8 reps, should I pick a weight where I can do the 8 comfortably with good and leave it at that? Or should the weight be increased to where I'm comfortable for 6 reps with the final 2 a break on form (maybe) A video of a workout session with your working weight for sets would be awesome!
Every set where you’re moving weight is a working set. Get these reps Ranges and how u do them out if your mind. Especially if youre talking about bodybuilding. Powerlifting is about # and progression of those #’s. Bodybuilding is about maximal stimulation and isolation
Are you using working weight when you are going through these exercises or just using a warmup weight to show us the movement? It just always seems so effortless, and I'd have to record myself, but I'm guessing it doesn't look as effortless. I sometimes wonder if I'm using too much weight. I rep out until my form breaks down or I lose connection with muscle which tells me my form has broken down.
Mike, Seems like 99% of people, personal trainers included, always tell you to lock the shoulders down before starting any pulling movements! I've always thought it was wrong. Now I know I was right. Thanks!
The head placement rly makes a change, wow!! Every video is so usefull. Probably the best channel on the YT 💪🏿
Really appreciate that. Thanks milhailo
It would be cool hearing you talk about the difference between a vertical pull and a horizontal pull. People always talk about vertical pulls creating width and horizontal creating thickness. Awesome channel 👍
I’ll address this.
I second the idea and look forward to it.👍

Great video as always! Could you please touch on dumbbell and cable pull overs for lats?
