You need to use a movie or music to fully test out the sound quality simple audio from a news channel with only dialogue isn't going to test the sound at it max capabilities.

Absolute crap product, i have this soundbar, and it no longer responds to the remote. Contacted bomaker and tehy won't respond to emails or contact via their website. Will never buy from these wankers again

Question: can I choose the equaliser settings without using the remote control? My unit remote was lost.

No I don't think you can there is no buttons on the actual unit
