One of the unique and really wonderful things about your channel Adrian is you don't just teach to play the guitar but also share and divulge music, artist and genres with a little bit of documentary taste to it. I can only speak for myself, but every Friday I'm anxiously waiting for the lesson but even more waiting to discover something new!
Same here. Friday morning = looking forward to new Adrian video, and I've been learning to play songs that had never occurred to me to try before, and buying music by bands I'd never heard of a short time before. And learning to play some songs that were already favorites. Just this week, working on both Mississippi John Hurt and Wire.
Might be, or might just be that it's a really simple chord progression. I actually figured this one out just by messing with some open chords, D-A-E-G, and realized "Hey, that's Wire!"
Oh YES. Wire is one those bands that made me think I could play guitar and write songs too. I discovered them late as well with their sorta reunion album "The Ideal Copy" which is more synthy. Then went back to buying their early records and was captivated by them and their originality. Looking forward to your other Wire vids.
I think the only time that my endlessly patient wife asked me to please shut something off was "From the Nursery" for some reason. It was kind of loud I guess.
When I saw them in , maybe 1987, they weren't playing any of their old stuff, so somebody, probably the concert promoter had a Wire tribute band play an opening set of songs from Pink Flag, Chairs Missing and 154. They were called The Ex Lion Tamers.
Yes. Love, love this band. I'm so glad I found your RUclips videos man! You play all my favourite stuff. Well, not all of it, but you do, all importantly play the stuff which I love, that most other people don't. So, thanks.
Man, this one made my day! I listened to Pink Flag several months ago after having not heard it in years. I've been listening to Wire ever since, especially this song. Thanks for the lesson. I'll definitely enjoy playing this one!
I listened to some of there stuff in the late eighties but never got into them, I searched them on Spotify and listened to a couple of albums and I'm into this!. Thanks for this🎶✔
Another great consideration from PF is 106 beats that. The chords are based on the names of train stations when Colin Newman was travelling. You end up with a chord progression that is totally random. It’s fantastic
Read somewhere that Ex Lioner Tamer is so named because it was a tune they had called Lion Tamer. Being unhappy with the lyrics they rewrote them. Amusing if true.
It was called "Post" Punk because a lot of the originators of the genre worked for the Royal Mail delivering letters and parcels. At the time being a Mailman was the ideal job for the budding musician because you practically had the whole afternoon off to practice and jam wiith your mates.
Thanks, Adrian! You read my mind -- I've been meaning to dig into some Wire songs and this was at the top of my list. Can't wait to see the next installment.
Fantastic lesson Adrian! I've loved Wire for years and never quite understood their lyrics but always dug their sound. Thanks for breaking this one down! Their songs are so short and unusual it's hard to pick out the chords, but that's part of their charm. Maybe I Feel Mysterious Today, Outdoor Miner and Question of Degree next ... thanks!!
Nice one. If you can find an album called"live at the Roxy" a 1977 live complilation lp with a lot of bands inc Wire, johnny moped, Adverts and many many more!!
LOVE WIRE!! Thanks so much!! Perhaps you could offer a tutorial of some early Monochrome Set? The song Espresso has some fun, right hand rhythm work. LOVE
Thanks for the great demo 🙏As some have asked, can you please share how to replicate the guitar sound for this song. Thanks. (Ps I saw Wire supported by a very fledgling The Cure back in 1978 at Kent University, Canterbury UK - Fab!)
I wondered that too. I got a good sound out of a Tele with a Wampler Tumnus pedal with the gain turned most of the way up, into a clean amp. Might not be the official sound, but sounded great to me.
3 Girl Rhumba is almost a 'classy blues' lick! Speaking of which, you should do a Rory Gallagher lesson! Check out Henry Rollins cover of 'ex lion tamer' its fantastic.
Thanks for making good on the Wire promise. Any chance for some Replacements? Always interested in the Bob Stinson style. I think it would fit you ur channel really well.
Love Wire - I had this album when it came out as I grew up at that time - Pink Flag definitely one of the best albums of all time - short sharp tunes - thanks for posting - what effects are you using to get that sound at the beginning?
I've always considered it tricky to refer to Wire as 'post-punk' given that they were there from the very start; probably better to refer to them as creators of post-punk (with others, obviously...)
I read that the guitar tone on Pink Flag (one of my all time favorites) was partly due to their use of an MXR Distortion. Any knowledge if that’s true?
Que feo sonido
Sounds ugly? I hope so!
lol
Klla kgada
Vales verga Milton, dos años despues y sigues valiendo verga

Wire is an influence for a lot of band, for sure. What strikes me withe this song, is the direct influence for "just like heaven" from The Cure !
Might be, or might just be that it's a really simple chord progression. I actually figured this one out just by messing with some open chords, D-A-E-G, and realized "Hey, that's Wire!"
I thought the same. Smith loved Wire, so...
Love Wire. Love you Adrian. Perfect combination. Great start to the weekend 😀
Can't wait to see the rest of this little series, I love Wire so much!
Thanks for keeping the post-punk kids happy!

Adrian, you've made my weekend mate!!
I AM THE FLY IN THE OINTMENT! I CAN SPREAD MORE DISEASE THAN THE FLEAS WHICH NIBBLE AWAY AT YOUR WINDOW DISPLAY!
I think the only time that my endlessly patient wife asked me to please shut something off was "From the Nursery" for some reason. It was kind of loud I guess.

I love Wire. I’d like more Gang of 4, but do what you do. I appreciate it all
Both my favorites
You have the tone spot on.
When I saw them in , maybe 1987, they weren't playing any of their old stuff, so somebody, probably the concert promoter had a Wire tribute band play an opening set of songs from Pink Flag, Chairs Missing and 154. They were called The Ex Lion Tamers.
One of the best bands ever! Wire's first three albums are incredible, and Pink Flag stands as one of the best albums of all of rock.
Yes. Love, love this band. I'm so glad I found your RUclips videos man! You play all my favourite stuff. Well, not all of it, but you do, all importantly play the stuff which I love, that most other people don't. So, thanks.
Wire has SOOOO much music and they keep putting out more and more excellent music.
"Outdoor Miner" would be amazing!

Many people find 80s Wire to be their least appealing. Adrian mentioned "Red Barked Tree," which is relatively recent and is a masterpiece.
Another great consideration from PF is 106 beats that. The chords are based on the names of train stations when Colin Newman was travelling. You end up with a chord progression that is totally random. It’s fantastic
That tone is spot-on!
Why doesn’t Adrian have 1 million subs yet? Spread the word! Great channel.
Read somewhere that Ex Lioner Tamer is so named because it was a tune they had called Lion Tamer. Being unhappy with the lyrics they rewrote them. Amusing if true.
Excellent. More Wire please. Especially, I Am The Fly :)
This is a lot of fun, thank you!!
damn I was just listening to this, nice one adrian

The above may be a fib.
That is quite a piece of news for sure... thank you Mark !
I've never heard of this in reference to the genre
@@kelechi_77 I may be fibbing 😉
Thanks, Adrian! You read my mind -- I've been meaning to dig into some Wire songs and this was at the top of my list. Can't wait to see the next installment.
Great channel man. Thanks for sharing.
Such a great song. Thanks for doing this.

Lyrics... "Not exactly sure what they're on about..." LOL!!!
I love the massive crunchy distortion!
Thank you Adrian.... live Wire and your lessons. Appreciated!
Love, love, love Wire - thanks so much!!!
Yes!!!!! Thank you.
I hope you got to check out Object 47 LP because I LOVE that later Wire LP.
Nice one. If you can find an album called"live at the Roxy" a 1977 live complilation lp with a lot of bands inc Wire, johnny moped, Adverts and many many more!!
Hi Adrian, I will check out Wire. Big Thanks again for you helping me with Making plans for Nigel!
A criminally underrated teacher and channel.
Yess! I've been meaning to learn some of the early Wire stuff.
Thank you 😊
Wahey, my favourite Wire track, cheers Adrian!
Holy Shi...Yes! I am going to pick up my dusty guitar and learn this one. Excited about the forthcoming Wire videos.
LOVE WIRE!! Thanks so much!!
Perhaps you could offer a tutorial of some early Monochrome Set? The song Espresso has some fun, right hand rhythm work.
LOVE
Oh, thank you, thank you thank you!! Really looking forward to plugging in the guitar and waking up the kids, and to a series no less! :-D
Could you please do a lesson on When You Sleep by my Bloody Valentine?
YES! Any MBV covers.
Drive It All Over Me!
Love it! Thank you!

Hi! I just found your channel today and your tone here is amazing! What amps and pedals did you use for this video?

ACG Upload, play, like, thank you! Cheers from Louisiana👍🎸
Please can you do Colin Newman's, "Not Me."
The 15th!
Saw them years ago in 87 supporting Siouxsie
Great song...great band
Thanks for the great demo 🙏As some have asked, can you please share how to replicate the guitar sound for this song. Thanks. (Ps I saw Wire supported by a very fledgling The Cure back in 1978 at Kent University, Canterbury UK - Fab!)
Thanjs for the lesson. Is this your amp drive or a pedal? It sounds great!
I wondered that too. I got a good sound out of a Tele with a Wampler Tumnus pedal with the gain turned most of the way up, into a clean amp. Might not be the official sound, but sounded great to me.
Now time for Strange, Fragile, Outdoor Miner, Kidney Bingos,
Love wire man!!!
Most excellent! Really want to learn how to play Reuters, can't find the chords anywhere!
Very good, very pivitol record for it's time, pink flag very good LP...keep.up the nice work, dig your musical tastes, thanks for vids...
Superb cover. keep it ;)
I could watch lessons on the whole pink flag album. Never stop the post-punk
You can smash it out with all power chords and it sounds fine.
3 Girl Rhumba is almost a 'classy blues' lick! Speaking of which, you should do a Rory Gallagher lesson! Check out Henry Rollins cover of 'ex lion tamer' its fantastic.
Nice
Good stuff, I like the idea of a series on one particular artist. I'm sure you'll get a few suggestions! .. How about The Pixies or Sonic Youth ?
Would love to see some 154 or Chairs Missing songs.
Thanks for making good on the Wire promise. Any chance for some Replacements? Always interested in the Bob Stinson style. I think it would fit you ur channel really well.

Art-punk. I wouldn't even call this song or any songs on Pink Flag post-punk, it's only until they get to chairs missing that they get that label.
Hello, Adrian! Please do Mannequin next
Hello loving the channel. Please could you show us some Killing Joke riffs. Thanks from Fagin:)
Nice lesson, how bout a lesson on Pulp "Like A Friend"?
Adrian, fantastic choice as always the very influential art pop of WIRE. Could you consider 12XU or Lowdown? Very impressive
Adrian had once mentioned maybe doing some Wire, and ever since then I've had Lowdown stuck in my head
cskueny that guitar lick turnaround to Lowdown just sticks in your head. It’s a simple F to Dm but it’s great
Very cool series, any chance of Outdoor Miner?
Could you please teach down by the river Neil young electric guitar style? Please!
I must have too many channels on notifications because I didn't see this for a week :(
Could you do a lesson on Otis by the durutti column
outdoor miner next please
I read that the guitar tone on Pink Flag (one of my all time favorites) was partly due to their use of an MXR Distortion. Any knowledge if that’s true?
Stay glued to your T.V. set...
Holy crap!
It almost sounds like Cures just like heaven
The other way round.
WIRE!!
Fishhhhhhhh fingers all in a lline!!!!!!
Love that song and dang that was about the easiest song ever. Wire. XTC. Gang of Four. Great lessons.

6 people don't get it.
Blues you lose
I dont want punk please do more blues and jazz
