    So the Russian media has recently claimed that Azov fighters worship slavic pagan deities in an effort to dehumanize Ukrainians to Russians. It's the funniest thing I've heard in a while.

      The media said that Azov conducted pagan rituals in addition to neo-nationalist moments. And if you have taken up the Slavic theme, regardless of your political views, you will finally learn the real story - regardless of some differences - Ukrainians, Russians and Belarusians are one people.

    • @GalicianGranddaughter666
      @GalicianGranddaughter666  Год назад +17

      @@stallist9365 We are NOT the same people. I am from Galicia and my ancestors have nothing to do with the muscovites. Russia has nothing to do with our lands. It never did until the 40s.
      Are the Franks and Germans the same people? After all, they all were part of the Holy Roman Empire?
      The fact that Rus existed at one point does not mean that the Ukrainian lands and Russian lands stayed the same. Since the Mongols invaded Rus, the identities of Russians and Ukrainians began to separate. While Russians paid tribute to Mongols and had extreme authoritarianism in their Moscow swamp, Galicia-Volhynia as well as central and eastern Ukraine were ruled by Lithuanians and Poles who had an electoral monarchy and the concept of the rights of nobles. There lies the root of the difference. In Russia, the Mongol dog tsar chose his nobles, in Poland, the nobles elected the king. Russia never experienced a moment in its history without authoritarianism. It’s a doomed state with a medieval mindset that Ukrainians want nothing to do with.

    I just discovered your channel, & after watching 1 video I looked at the home page. What a wonderful idea - it appears that you are relaying the intrigue of history with clips of films that many of us may not have seen - so we can get a taste of, or encounter the visual culture of scenes from the past & behold the pageantry we were born too late (& often too poor) to witness.
    Again. a brilliant concept that I hope you enjoy - It looks dazzling to me !

    I think you did a wonderful job with this video. Great collection of clips taken from amazing films two of which are Russian made films based on ancient Rus.The band’s name is Ochelie Soroki from Moscow Russia. I am half Russian half Armenian, and I don’t get in the middle of the current conflict between Russia & Ukraine, because I was raised to consider Ukrainian people my cousins. And I still do. No matter the political games that are being played. My advice to you is try not to blindly follow the stories that the mainstream media is spreading. Western media has a very great talent at turning any country that they want into an enemy of the world. Don’t forget not long ago they have done the same thing with Iraq when the Bush administration was spewing propaganda on every news channel about Iraq having weapons of mass destruction. It ended up that the western media and Bush administration have tricked the American citizens to send the American military to Iraq and completely devastate that country, and there was no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. There are always hidden reasons for war that the public is not being told on both sides. The ruling power that runs the world has become a master at psychological manipulation of the masses. Those in power of the world have been directing the fate of humanity for centuries and orchestrating wars. It will continue to happen as long as the masses can be influenced, manipulated, led like trained animals who don’t think for themselves. It will continue to happen as long as we go to war with one another, because our governments made decisions on our behalf during secret meetings to which we are not allowed. And as far as worshiping ancient deities, I think you should know that although many Russians are Russian orthodox Christians just like most Ukrainians are also orthodox Christian, but there are groups growing in Russia and all over Europe who are now reconnecting with their ancient roots. I’m one of those people. You didn’t think that the revival of ancient pagan gods is only happening in Ukraine did you? The revival of ancient native gods and traditions is happening all over the world. I pray that the gods of our ancestors will put a stop to this conflict between Russia and Ukraine, and stop this needless waste of Slavic lives.

      As to this video, Rus was composed of different principalities and although there were common features between the people of Novgorod and those in Halych they were largely very different and their ties were very loose. Any connection was completely severed by the Mongol invasion. Two very different nations were formed. This video goes back to those times of Rus, but that does not mean Ukraine wants anything to do with Russia currently.

      @@valqzx1144 after the Mongols went back home to the Karakorum during the khanate succession crisis they left the Rus lands broken and vulnerable. They were already fractured with a bunch of disjointed principalities even before this invasion. But after the invasion the remaining links were broken. Now the western/central Rus lands (including Kyiv, Chernihiv, Kharkiv) fell to the Lithuanian invasion and were influenced by Lithuania and Poland for 400 years. Most western lands (Galicia-Volhynia) maintained independence for another 50 years or so but eventually were swallowed up by Poland as well. Northern Rus lands like Novhorod, Vladimir and Suzdal, etc. continued to be more directly influenced by the Mongols paying tribute to them until the 16th century.
