The fact that people can argue that "You Belong With Me" artistically has a better video than "Single Ladies"... The VMA award was clearly made in order to appeal to the vast majority of white america. Everything Kanye is saying would be valid if he just fucking acknowledged that "his truth" is not necessarily everybody else's. I thought Beyonce's video was way better than Swift's too, but it's not necessarily what EVERYONE WAS THINKING just because it's what he was thinking. And it's all subjective. It's not that hard to wait until the end of the awards ceremony and then go on Twitter and say, "hey, no disrespect to Taylor Swift, but Beyonce totally had the better video" Instead, he decided that because he was unhappy with the award, everyone should stop the ceremony and listen to him. If even a few more people did that, it'd be total chaos!
It's not about talent -- I'll concede that he's talented -- just basic decency and respect for other people. It bugs me a little that we're so eager to celebrate someone for acting arrogant and self-centered, whether it's Kanye West or Donald Trump.
