காஞ்சிபுரத்தில் சுகாதார சீர்கேட்டை கண்டித்து, மறியலில் ஈடுபட்ட பொதுமக்கள் கைது செய்யப்பட்டனர். காஞ்சிபுரம் மாநகராட்சியில் 20-வது வார்டுக்குட்பட்ட தும்பவனம் அருணாசலம் தெருவில் சாக்கடை கழிவு நீர் ஆறாக ஓடுவதால், அப்பகுதி சேறும் சகதியுமாக காட்சி தருகிறது. மேலும் குப்பைகளும் முறையாக அகற்றப்படாததால், துர்நாற்றம் வீசுவதுடன் தொற்றுநோய் அபாயமும் ஏற்பட்டுள்ளது. இதுகுறித்து மாநகராட்சி அதிகாரிகளிடம் பலமுறை மனு அளித்தும் நடவடிக்கை இல்லாததால் ஆத்திரமடைந்த தெருவாசிகள் 50-க்கும் மேற்பட்டார், ரயில்வே சாலையில் மறியலில் ஈடுபட்டனர். அதிகாரிகள் பேச்சுவார்த்தை நடத்தியும் போராட்டத்தை கைவிட மறுத்ததால், அவர்கள் கைது செய்யப்பட்டனர்.
