Lamb's look strong enough Davie, I like that machine with the roll over and that push up gate is spot on, once you went to just using the squeeze to catch your sheep you were flying then, good job enjoyed the show thanks for sharing, good luck
Great video David. I’ve had a Shepherdsmate now for 2/3 years. Great job. Brilliant for weighing lambs too. There’s a board that goes on and holds the wand. First time or 2 is slow for the sheep going through but once they get used to it they sail through it. Great job and obviously isn’t as fancy as Te Pari but for the price it won’t be beaten fact! And George at Shepherdsmate is good to deal with! Only thing I would add to mine (and I don’t know if it even exists) would be an extendable hurdle so that I can keep the forcing pen set up and just reverse the actual handling unit back to it and an extendable hurdle would mean I don’t have to be reversed perfectly to the forcing pen.
David for your safety you are best served wearing gloves when you are handling both the Bolus and especially Clik We have a shepardsmate handling unit since 2015 and it is amazing how much stuff they have upgraded on the unit Overall a fine unit and well worth having and also made by fellow Cavan people
Clik needs about 3 to 4 weeks wool regrowth after shearing to be fully efficient. Nice handling unit..may be suitable for a small to medium flock, but better systems out there.
Hi David i bought a shepherd's mate back 9 years ago from George. I find it a good value for money setup. It's a dream for weighing lambs and drafting them into different lots with ease. For handling baby lambs i would flip them back in the roll over crate and there laying back comfortably and at a good working height for what ever needs to be done with them. Thats my experience with it.
Interesting handling system. I'm sure it is more affordable than the more automated systems however I would be concerned about the canvas sling, the padding on the squeeze and the ropes and bungees tearing or breaking over time especially with the number of sheep you have. Also there is a lot of physical effort on your part to squeeze the sheep as well as flipping them over and returning them back from the sling. Again, with the number of sheep you have to work that will take it's toll on your body (back). Great demonstration.
As I was told by the Click rep, you need to start the spray on the neck wool in order to guarantee shoulder cover as the product run down vertically. Lambs looking great. I like the hammock, it must be more comfortable for the sheep than a metal construction. Just a thought, the oesophageal groove is on the left side of the tongue. The rams are very handsome.
Good video nice lambs what product do you use in the footbath some great sheep equipment out there seen a rappa on Cowley hills you tube it seems a good piece of kit te pari seem good too i can only dream 😂
As with any new equipment it takes times to get used to it. I would worry about the green pad that you push on to control the squeeze that without some type lubricant when not in use and weather that it will maybe start to tear and break down not look very good. Besides that it looks like it works great
Yeeeesss...The Ta Pari!!! Think that's how you spell it!! Lol 😊😊 I have NEVER seen any other machine but the Ta Pari one! Pretty much everyone ive seen here on YT have the Ta Pari one so i thought that was the only company that made these contraptions untill now! Lol
Thanks John, Clik bottles have a long tube that runs down to the bottom of the container. Designed to work in upright position probably because it's so expensive and any spillages would be painful 😉
Nifty equipment for sure - one day though, you gotta make a video (please.) on sheep vocalisations and their meaning. Those guys are so loud in the video that I'm starting to ask myself "What does "MAEH!" actually mean?" ;-)
I recently sold my Shepheardsmate, I had it for 3/4 years. It’s OK at lots of things but doesn’t do anything really well. It might suit some people but I think there are better systems out there.
@@sheepschool365 I actually bought a Te Pari, not directly comparable to the Shepherds mate due to the price difference. I was looking at other options and was close to getting a RAPPA. I think a race based system is, for most jobs, quicker than a Shepherds mate or Te Pari and you can add on a better designed weigh / turnover crate to the end of the race.
@@sheepschool365 What I did really like were the lamb mounted teat holders from your shop!! They worked really well at lambing, I usually go through loads of teats as the get damaged with lambs rubbing against them. I didn’t need to replace any teats this year. 👍🏽
I saw your video on how you batch rams and ewes together but is it just your word that determines who the father is on lambplus or on pedigree papers? Or do you have to get a DNA test on each lamb to prove who the dam and sire is if you want to get pedigree papers?? I'm not accusing you of fudging numbers or anything I'm just curious 😂😂 keep up the good work 😊😊
Very valid question and I'm sure there are plenty of genuine mistakes in the sheep world. I am pretty cautious marking ewes on the shoulder & recording on the reader which ram they ran with. Plus breeding rams must be genotyped for Sheep Ireland which all improves parentage reliability through DNA testing.
Thanks for that David. And how would someone go about buying a couple of pedigree ewes? How would you know if they were truly pedigree or not? I might have to give you a call in the near future 😜 or maybe you wouldn't part with any 😂
Thanks David. There are 2 different evaluations/ impressions for the same Shepherd's Mate System. Should we believe the early or late one?. It looks like the Shepherd's Mate people were not happy with your 1st fair evaluation and commissioned you to revise and improve the review.
This is a totally honest and unpaid video. Both two very different days work and after the first day I suggested it is not ideal for lighter lambs under 20kg but great for larger sheep, pretty much identical description after completing jobs on with rams on the second day.
Great video David we are thinking of buying one of those handlers , would you try ovitrace it's very high in cobalt we moved from bolas to ovitrace and haven't looked back you can get it from Darragh Quinn crossmolina co mayo he is very helpful
Well done lad with your sheep 🐑 that was a great job 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
great machine for the sheep. well done Daivid.

What I notice is it looks simple no air composer no power needed. The non return worked on gravity no springs to get lost/broken. Impressed
An interesting piece of kit to make the job easier on you and Robbie. And it is something you did not have to make from scratch 😊

Excellent video. All your videos have nice contents. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and practice.
Glad you like them!

Not convinced with this fidly set up, i would go for the Blue one!
Shepherd's Mate is around 1/3 of the price of the Clipex system.

Another great video😎
Excellent work.
Excellent video again thanks for sharing that handling system certainly wouldn't be my first choice
Bonnie group of lambs, very uniform. And would love a pen set up like that, impressive.
Thank you 👍
I started with pallets and rusty gates 10 years ago ☺️
I do exactly the same, bolus first then the drench to wash the bolus down!
Hi David. The handling uinted glyn have in kerry is the best i have seen .

Great video david again just wondering why do you hang the bottles of click and dose up the way instead of the lid down?
Thanks John, Clik bottles have a long tube that runs down to the bottom of the container. Designed to work in upright position probably because it's so expensive and any spillages would be painful 😉
Great bit of equipment . Does the wheel not come in the way?
Whats the idea with the foam in the footbath? Does it help the flow of sheep?
Makes the job so much better when "Mr Blue Sky" is out!
Of all the demos that you have used which was your favourite
do a review of pallets, baling twine and dragging gates...😉
Myself and Robbie do laugh regularly at the early days of rusty gates, twine and pallets... we might just discuss it 😜
magic David.
Nice bit of kit.
David,
What gun are you using to apply the Click?
I find a lot of them aren't able to spray it well as its quite thick.
I heard some people say that. I use a Clik applicator gun with fan nozzle, works well 👌
Nifty equipment for sure - one day though, you gotta make a video (please.) on sheep vocalisations and their meaning. Those guys are so loud in the video that I'm starting to ask myself "What does "MAEH!" actually mean?" ;-)

Lambs are looking good.
I know it is more money buy I feel the
Tpari is easier to set up and works better . But I never use either .
How much roughly is that setup ?
Nice looking lambs ..how many ml of click do you use on the lambs?
Vast majority of lambs get 20ml
I set the gun for 5ml and usually apply 4 sprays. Bigger lambs will get an extra pump.
Where do you get Click for £40? Just checked and it's £150 for 2.2l at Gregg's :-(
@@PammyStevensonEquest Think he said it had gone up by 40 Euros a bottle??
@@pash47 ah that makes sense, need to listen more carefully:-)
I hope that set up is about a third of the price of a good one
Good see boss

🐑🐑🚜
still need a good dog
🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑,
Time to wean them or you like a couple soft farmers an want to wean when they’re over a 100lbs
Its a bit mad after watching the lad in kerry with his te pari.
I spose differnt price points eh.
