I love how your work is not scripted, just a chat. It's refreshing. Thanks for the info. I was doing research for a vacation and found you. I was going to book a 'glamping' trip as a solo traveler. I'm grateful that I learned where NOT to go.
Hi Jeff, I loved your videos and this message it's just to say that they help me so much to plan and better understand the Hawaii and in particular Big Island. So now we're going tomorrow to there and certainly will be amazing. Thanks so much. Be strong and continue with the videos! See you.
I haven’t been to Maui yet. But when I do look at videos from Maui the Big islands beaches do look better. I have been to all the ones you mentioned on Big island and they are amazing 🤙
I'm in Phoenix too! Can't wait to move, the summers here are brutal. No mas. Haven't been to the Big Island yet but I loved Maui, my favorite beaches were along the north shore.
If you like hot summers with high humidity high prices on food and rent being called haule which is slang for white person then Maui No ka oi place for you Hawaii"the big island" cost of living is cheaper you still will be called a haule there by the locals but it is nice to live there
i lived on maui for over twenty years and now live in pahoa on the big island. i agree with much of what you said except for the beaches and the health care. to me the beaches kona side do not come close to those on maui. do some more exploring. and i find the health care system here very difficujlt. takes forever to get a referral. all in all i much preferred maui.
Most of the Vog tends to go to Kona, although Hilo does get it. Depending on the winds really. Most of the time the wind is going east to west, unless the Kona trade winds are happening.
Watching from Canada how you all complain about heat...I would exchange in a hearth beat. I have been to Maui in December and it was Paradise everywhere. Any green card ideas?
I don't know JJ..when comparing LV to Maui..Maui sun actually feels like my skin is burning..LV is just hot but not burning hot..I can't ever pronounce the name of Queen's mall..I just call it the Queen's mall.
I'm inclined to agree that the Big Island appears to offer the most upside potential since it is less developed unless it will never compare simply because it's natural assets are not as great. Do you feel that the climate, the natural beauty, and the beaches are as good or less than the other islands ? These are things that can't be changed and which would limit the upside potential. The volcano activity may also be a headwind if it makes life unbearable ( you mention your eyes hurting from the sulfur in the air ) . But if the volcano activity has little impact on quality of life then I could overlook a little vog which is likely to stop in time.
@@johnmazza9432 The volcano is def active lots of earthquakes- heck like over 30 earthqakes the other week- and the new crater lake is showing that lava underneath is pushing the water up.
What would you suggest for a "mainlander" with Polynesian children? My children are Polynesian and LOOK Polynesian 💯. No one is kind to me in Idaho. I would much rather deal with people being unkind to me than to my babies.
I live in wiakola village lower part housing is great price vs ca and Maui cost wise 3/2 $550 $475 prop taxes need a big store here though I love to hang out on the Kohala area up to end of the road by aunties shave ice true paradise
humidity is the deciding factor I'd say .. here in calif. I just walk into the shade and its becomes not so bad, humidity theres no escape on the natural effort, thats why we have AC
lived in miami beach for 20 years want a better life style i think the inconomy the same and hardly left the sandbar u think i could fit in hawii have ten grand saved is that enough

I find your rambling talks ;) very helpful. Much more so than most flashy you tubers who speak on Hawaii. thanks for telling it straight!
Im now on like my 22nd video of yours ... and i just wanted to say thank you! You have been super informational and helpful!
Thanks for the info. My husband and I have been trying to decide between Maui and the big island.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. Why did you move from the Big Island to Maui and were you able to transfer with your job?
Which Island do you reccomend for first timers?? (vacation)
Used to be Maui but I guess Oahu now but my personal favorite is big island
JJ do you live on Maui or on the big Island? I so love your photos behind the grand why Leah in the church. That's where I proposed to my wife.
Hey Z 2, I am here on Maui now. Its beautiful over there in Wailea. Nice place to propose I would say!
I'm looking at places and am leaning towards big island but maui seems pretty awesome too.. hard to pick!!!
Love your videos. Just wondering why you decided to leave Maui?

JJ, great video! Keep up the good work. Do you know how bad the vog is on the Hilo side?

Thanks for this comparison and discussion. I have been to Kauai, Oahu, and Maui, but not the BI.
Jeff, if you were thinking about buying real estate, which island offers the best opportunity ?
J M all of them I would say. But Maui and north big island are where I like. South big island has volcano soooo
