I bought an 06 a few weeks ago. Currently cleaning it up and replacing worn out components. I’m not really doing it for profit. Just for a bit of a project, and if I don’t use it enough I’ll sell it in the future. It’s been fun going over it, and even finding out what I have - because the old owner didn’t even know very much about it.
You win and lose some. I just took my 2008 yfz 450 for a top and bottom rebuild... I had all the parts oem Yamaha...get a call a few days later that i need a clutch basket and counter balance shaft to..fml $1400.00 in parts without the 2 new ones..
This seems cool, I just bought a 2021 n my hands have been all over it already, in a good way😂 it’s been pretty good so far, but it’s only been ridden for around 15 hours. I’d definitely rebuilt a older bike in the future, hopefully a banshee 😂
Thanks! Nice joob on the 2021. I got a 2021 SE recently. Its a blast but the older 450s are fun too. A Banshee would be wicked. Enjoy your 450. Great quads.
I picked up an 04 last year with cracked case For 800. Been out of the atv thing for a while didn’t realize how expensive this type of project can get.
There are so many good deals on quads in your part of the country! One question though, what was wrong with the carb that a simple rebuild wouldn't have been able to fix? Was it cracked or something?
Thanks for watching. I'm trying to remember since its been a bit. Seemed like something was stripped where the previous owner tried to rig something. It wasn't on a main jet, but somewhere else. Sorry I can't remember exactly.
@@FunGoingFast that would explain the need for a new one. And yes, those carbs are expensive new but there are plenty of them on the used market since Honda, Polaris, ktm and other years yfz's use the same carb. Keep pumping out the ATV content!
@@FunGoingFast 05, plan to rebuild, cases look good, cylinder is destroyed, head might be able to be saved. Might just do a big bore stroker while I'm at it.
@@danjim7056 Sounds like a good plan. I had an 04 with a hot cam in it and that thing would haul. It felt like a turbo when it hit the higher revs. Good luck.
@@Dansyoung It ran perfect for them 5 mins. Don't know how the previous owner could have known. If you search namura pistons there are lots of people who have them explode within the first couple hours.

Haha. Yep definitely sounds like one of my stories! Sorry to hear that. This is not the hobby for the thrifty. Enjoy it once you get it back.

Man it can add up fast! Good luck with it. They are fun once they are running.
how much did you spend total
@@LonelyEg I spent $3,168 total.
@@FunGoingFast damn how much did you spend on the bike? and do you have instagram,?
@@LonelyEg It was $800 for the quad, $2,168 for parts, and $1,000 for labor. I don't have Instagram but I have a Facebook page for this channel.

Bought one yesterday for 4g and the piston exploded the first ride today.
Ahh. That sucks! Sorry to hear that. What year? Going to rebuild it?.

Did it just fail out of no where? The old owner must have known…
