    You can be great without a championship. There's no way anyone can tell be Charles Barkley and Allen Iverson weren't great. If they aren't great due to lack of championships, should they be taken out of the Hall of Fame? I'm just saying. You can be great without a championship, but winning that ring definitely makes you elite.

    • @brandonmbemba
      @brandonmbemba 4 месяца назад +13

      100% agree. John Stockton, Karl Marlone, James Harden, Patrick Ewing etc these dudes are just basketball legends even without a ring in their resumes, they did it all

    • @collllllll

      I total agree with you can be great without a chip. I would even go further to say one can be elite without winning a chip because a chip is also dependent on timing.
      If AI doesn't run into the Shaq & Kobe he gets a chip.
      If Barkley doesn't run into MJ he has a chip.
      If Malone or Stockton don't run into MJ twice they have 2 chips.
      I would even go as far as to say Brown and Tatum just won a chip but as of now they have not had the career that Harden has had even with Harden's decline in the last couple of years

    Given how much playoffs are impacted by random things like injury and matchups, it’s too luck based for me to say it’s a meaningful part of an individuals accomplishments. Great players are still great without accolades.
    The only time awards make a difference is if you’re foolish enough to go deep into the GOAT debate (spoiler: all your candidates played different games w different rules and found different results. It’s not subjective, a truly decisive comparison is impossible)

    To be the 🐐you have to win a championship probably multiple championships but you don’t have to win a championship to become a great player. Rings can also become overrated depending on the context that you win them in. I understand what Aja is saying but it’s not that black and white.

    No you don’t thats narrative talk, anyone looking at the situation objectively will see that there are too many variables for this to be a realistic standard. I’ve seen people argue that the luck of being in fortunate enough situations is apart of greatness not sure how I feel about that but unless you agree with that I don’t see how you can say you need rings.

  • @Aram1vntmusic

    A championship is an organizational feat. There are teams who might never see a championship cause it’s not in the cards for that market. The Kings probably won’t win a chip for another 10-20 years cause the organization is eons behind. You can be a great player without a ring.

    I’ll just say it. The answer is yes for WNBA and no for NBA. Statistically, you have a much larger chance to win a title in the WNBA at the moment due to the amount of teams.

    • @Gymantis
      @Gymantis 4 месяца назад

      That's a fallacy. Less teams means the talent is much more condensed. If the WNBA added 18 more teams, do you think any of those additional teams would compete? No. If the NBA only had 12 teams then the talent pool would be compromised of the absolute elite players. There are so many non-factor teams in the NBA who don't have a chance at a championship.

    • @Username2521hh
      @Username2521hh 4 месяца назад

      @@Gymantismathematics isn’t a fallacy. You can play for every team during a career in the WNBA. Your odds of joining a dynasty are much higher.

    • @Gymantis
      @Gymantis 4 месяца назад

      @@Username2521hh Exactly. A dynasty team full of the world's best talent would be insurmountable which would actually make it MORE difficult to win unless you played for that one team. Was any team going to beat the 16-17 GSW? No, why not? Because of how condensed the latent was on one team. If every team had that level of talent then it becomes much more difficult to win because you essentially eliminate players and teams that aren't elite.
