This video has nothing to do with ecosystems. Human interference of natural processes, at best, but without an adequate ecosystem for the animals to thrive in.
The way turtles are killed is brutal. The conditions, including the people working there, are quite unhealthy. I felt sorry for these people who constantly had to swim in the bacteria-filled pool with their bare hands and feet. It's really painful for them to work in such a brutal, unhealthy environment just to earn a few dollars a day.

If memory serves me correctly, this species is the Chinese softshell turtle (Pelodiscus sinensis), which is considered endangered in the wild. At least commercial breeding ensures that the species as a whole does not disappear from the face of the earth and allows the reintroduction of individuals into the wild. I am an animal advocate and find the way the slaughtering was done in this video completely absurd, but instead of pointing fingers and denigrating the producers, we should educate them about the need for animal welfare and respect for nature and living beings.

Really, they couldn't slice off the head of the turtle before butchering it? The Chinese have a reputation of putting every part of the butchered animal into the prepared dish (example Chicken soup, you get everything including the head), but I didn't see them use the head for anything. Plus all that effort to gut it and you barely get any meat out of it, doesn't seem worth the effort.
