As a chronically ill/disabled person, the same lessons apply. Take whatever the task or movement is, and break it down to smaller steps. Do what you can, and be proud of that. Thank you for sharing this wisdom.

I've been cycling for about 8 years, road and gravel. My wife and I started doing CrossFit about a year and a half ago. Our box does a free community WOD on Saturday mornings, so we gave it a shot, went back the following Monday morning and started going regularly. Now I go almost every day(take a rest day now and then) at 5am. I love the community and working out with others. I was doing a lot of solo cycling, which I enjoy, but it is nice to have others push you and encourage others as well. I started going back to school(at 45) so my evening time is limited for workouts, so the hour in the morning before starting my day is great for the mind and body. I get out on the bike when time allows now.

I love Crossfit! In addition to meeting my husband there, it has made me so much stronger physically AND mentally. I would say that increased mental strength is the biggest benefit I have received from crossfit. When I look at the WOD, there are days I think it is IMPOSSIBLE! But I am always able to finish it (being in community helps tremendously too!). I love back squats, box jumps, and snatches. I just got some great coaching on wall walks so I'm excited to work on them. I have read that box jumps are supposed to improve your running but I'm not a runner so I haven't tested that theory out. I think that actually running would help my running. Lol. I've tried and my body thinks I'm trying to be funny. Hmmmm.

I've been doing Crossfit for about 7 years now and love it. I had a pregnancy, weight (hello covid), knee & foot issues within those 7 years that have made it difficult but I can squat to parallel if I stretch and my form on my lifts are getting better. I love Deadlifts!!! I think your analysis is spot on. Now I'm trying to figure out how to add endurance stuff in my day. Another thing I would consider if someone is interested in Crossfit is to see how competitive the gym is. Some gyms train folks who do crossfit competitions whereas others, like mine, just want to see you get strong and healthy.

Love your channel Christine! I would be interested in videos about “if you had to start over with loosing weight after a baby or multiple children…what would be some tips?” Are there certain habits from your years of counting calories that you still implement with eating food? Do you still have some mind “talks” to yourself about when to stop eating etc. or even I feel like I’ve been working at losing weight but it’s not coming off, maybe some ideas on what steps you would take to find out why? (Obviously not a doctor but friend to friend ;) …hormones?
And lastly, maybe a video on what you could make with what your state gives to those on WIC? Be a fun budget video.

I tried Crossfit once and I gotta admit, I got a weird, pretentious vibe. Also, I felt incredibly inadequate because my fitness level was NOWHERE near the others. The coach didn't really do much to help.
Of course, much of my negative experience could have been due to my own insecurities. But the atmosphere was definitely not my cup of tea. I never went back.
I do Les Mills Bodypump now, and I LOVE it. But there's always something calling me to those heavy clean and jerks! I want to feel that powerful!

    • @erinsmakes2933

Have been in at the same CrossFit Gym since 2008. I love the deadlift/ bench press and something called sandbag loading workout, also love the gymnastics stuff (skin the cat, handstands) and the team workouts like tire flips, pushing cars. Hate burpees and wall balls. I do the home gym version right now since our Covid numbers are high. I go through phases of love and boredom at CrossFit and do a variety of other activities for interest sake (walking, hiking, did a Spartan Race one spring with another gym in town, biking, gardening). CrossFit is a good place for people to feel fitness successes alongside insanely fit people and feel like you belong to something wonderfully uplifting. I wish I had had CrossFit in my 20's.

I did the open workout this morning (soooo scaled, tho- oh my gah, I can’t do 3 wall walks consecutively!) I knew some people who were CrossFit coaches back when I was in college, so I’ve always been sort of aware of the lingo and what not. The only think I don’t like about it is how short the workouts are. I have done CF in the past. I loved the movement of it all but the price was the issue. My favorite was the warm up because it was all encompassing. I liked lifting weights and so I continued on my own at home with hand weights and body weight, I did not like the community because it was ego based where I trained and the biggest push wasn't the gear but the diet. As a diabetic it did not work for me so I took what they said and then modified it for me. Overall, I would do it again but on the price point of 1-2x week. The rest, I would get from the Washington landscape.

I did a 6 week trial at a CrossFit gym and loved it! (But man it's so expensive I couldn't stay!!! ) So I just do Murphys and other little things at home without equipment when I can.

Loving your fitness videos. Haven’t tried cross fit but I do some similar stuff at a boxing gym. Would love to give it a go. Not sure if you e made a video on cycling for beginners yet?

Hi Christine. I only do the bike and treadmill at the gym. I try to do the 30 minutes machines. The first machine I hurt my back.

I've done crossfit on and off a few year ago, then quarantine happened. I go back to the office in May so I'm going back then (free crossfire class on base) but I'm teleworking and not authorized PT until then. So just using my bowflex and bike right now

Did it for years but no longer do. Just too expensive and it just didn’t like them weight lifting. Loved the variety each day.

Oh and I Love Crossfit! My favorite was the annoying burpees, I thought I was going to die, I did yack a few times. They became my favorite though and kettle bell, and the other was we would push out toss the medicine ball.

I’ve done CrossFit and it was ok (I HATE running). Some of the movements aren’t good on your back or joints so I keep to a safer workout. A friend of mine owns a gym and is also a massage therapist and is about to go for another world record in lifting. She’s almost 70! She massages people all the time who tear their bodies up doing CrossFit.

I was mildly interested in CrossFit, but having watched this video, I've decided this is not my cup of tea. I am not a first responder, and would rather not punish myself thus. I'm glad you had lots of fun though 🙂

I tried crossfit and was hoping to like it. Tried it for a month but didn't enjoy it at all. I don't know if it was the people or the coaches. I think I will stick to what I am doing on my own.

You’ve said before that you manage your plantar fasciatis (sp). Could your please expand on what you do (without giving medical advice of course.). I had it so badly a couple of years ago I could barely walk. Much better now but I’m afraid to start exercising thinking it will start up again. Thank you.

I wish I could do this kind of exercise but it's just too hard and intense for me. In my mid-50's so I just stick to zumba and walking. 😅

I have a weak lower back due to an injury and I have nerve damage as well as a drop foot on my left leg, are there exercises in CrossFit that could help me get stronger and loose weight without hurting myself more
