An Update On My Low Boost 172 Cup

A hugely belated update on where my low boost 172 Cup is now. The car is currently SORN and off the road until April - partly due to the weather and not being able to go anywhere because of COVID, but also due to an issue with a suspect oil leak from the cambelt area. Hopefully, more regular updates to follow from now!

Great to see a part of a restoration on the 172 cup, makes me want to go buy a 172 cup or a 182 trophy and make it look brand new and leave it until the future without any modifications but it’s me I need to do modifications to all my cars I own😂 I’ll possibly buy an 172 cup and an 182 trophy, great content mate! Haha I am guilty of this too. I think that's why I have gone for a higher mileage Cup. I can do what I want to it without worrying about future prices! worth getting a Cup soon if you do, prices seem to be heading to Trophy levels!

@@ChristopherGower Haha that’s alright though, really that’s interesting tbh mate. Ohh yeah definitely I agree, personally I think if it was low mileage it’ll still be best as the factory bushes will be ruined. I have seen 2 mint 172 cup’s for sale but 7k+ I’ll rather go buy a clio 182 trophy for the same price which will hold more value due to being 500 made, ohh yeah definitely!

Loving the Cup progress! That rear beam looks stunning. A lot of man hours have gone into that rear beam and the underside. 4:55 I'd also like to know if you should use blue threadlocker for the caliper bolts?

Great job mate, I’d have sandblasted the underside and put fresh underseal and paint i t get it looking really show ready

Thanks mate! I think in the future I’d like to do a full restoration on the car. If I ever get the chance I’ll 100% be sandblasting it all and finishing the underside in Mondial Blue to match the shell
