I have one too and also will never part with it. Purchased 2 years ago and have done over 90 jobs to it, they are very special little hot hatches and incredible fun.
bought one new in 2002, sold it couple of years later. hankered after another one for years as a weekend toy and found one 5 years ago listed for a grand which needed mot/brakes and belts were due. still got it and done a lot to it since then and its such a great fun car to drive.
Great little review. And you're a man after my own heart! I'm also on my third Clio 2 RS (a 182 cup F1). I've driven a Porsche GT3 on the autobahn and on country roads, owned a Euro spec 3.2 litre E36 M3, an R53 Cooper S, an integra type S, a built track MX5, and a built Nissan 180sx (among other things) and I feel the love you have for these cars. Such an awesome little car that's so fun to drive at legal speeds. People compare them to a go kart but I disagree. Go karts are too rigid and unforgiving. These are nice and compliant and squirm and move and keep you involved in the driving experience in so many subtle ways. Just love them. Enjoy yours! p.s. I'm also lucky enough to own an R26 Megane and have to say I'm pretty impressed with that too. Different to the Clio yet similar in most of the good points. Brilliant cars the RS's!!
Have a 172 with 431 cams, Zorst, remap 195BHP Whiteline ARB and 15" wheels and -20Kg air con delete. Love the better seats ABS and Zenons. But my old Cup the same colour as yours has the looks. I know its just the spoiler, wheels and colour but Renault just got it right on the Cup. Lovely car and a sure fire future classic.
@@DreamDrivingTours thanks. I was lucky enough to be the first owner. The car was such fun to drive. It's funny you mention the exhaust, as that fell off the hanger in the first few months - otherwise, it was faultless
Ha, just commented on your Caterham video. Got one of these myself, sounds like your PAS pump is whining away at @2:17 would could explain your heavy steering!
Great vid. Looking a RS200 myself, just hard to find a 172,182, 197 that hasn't been ragged, modded to hell and back or already converted to a track car.
Yes, it definitely whines. It has done that for the whole 3 years I've owned the car. Like most of these, the gearbox 'sweats' oil. It has never been changed so is probably due a refresh. Glad you are enjoying the videos!
😍😍😍 used to have a 172 cup in the late noughties. Sadly for me I didn’t quite catch some lift-off oversteer when going around a roundabout :( 💥 💥 💥 💀 Best £3k I’ve ever spent tho. What a car.

That behind the scenes camera man has a magnificent beard. Car is nice too.

Coming up to 10 years ownership with mine and still love it

Wow, nice to see my old car going strong. As someone mentioned, watch out for the lift-off oversteer on roundabouts
When did you own the car? It's a lovely example. Credit to you and the other previous owners.

Briliant drivers car 👍👍
Have my black 172 ph2 for ten years and counting😁😉
Last clip In Newport? Great video👌
I have my JellyBelly hanging in the same spot in my Clio mk4
I bought a new one back in 2004. 10 miles on the clock and pre-registered by the dealer and cost £10. A bargain. Upgraded to a 182 Cup.
wow, £10 that really is a bargain. 🤣
@@jamielearmonth1039 Haha Should have been £10.5k
Great video but am I hearing quite a loud gearbox whine ??

New gearbox oil has made a big difference - good spot!
Nice one!

Best £3k I’ve ever spent tho. What a car.
Mpg please 😉
Best I've seen is 44mpg on a run but usually get 32-34mpg.
Does the horn work? 🤣
I've got an engine and gearbox for you.
Genuine cup 1 owner. 25000 barely run in.
Let's talk - can you message me on IG to discuss please?
