Thank you for watching this video! I was nervous about tackling such a controversial topic. Let me know what your thoughts are on this topic!

I totally agree. I feel like there is a direct correlation between the amount of RUclips that I consume, and the amount of purchase that I make and the dissatisfaction I feel with my current stuff. RUclips used to be fun. Now, it just fuels my spending and ungratefulness. There are so few people to really trust. I can only think of around 10 in this space of sssooooo many content creators. Thanks for your thoughtfulness on this. This encourages me to go through my subscriptions and remove those people I just don't trust anymore.

I'm glad you found the video motivational! I need to do the same thing. I usually just swipe away their notification.

Influencers have complete changed the way I feel about social media as a whole. It used to be my safe space and a place I went to help my anxiety and depression. Now it’s become a place that either makes me very angry or roll my eyes into outer space. I am sick to the back teeth of “hacks, trends, viral, obsessed, you need to run not walk”. I just can’t be bothered with it all. Instagram and RUclips is ads more than interesting and informative content. The influencers themselves have become so out of touch with reality and their audience that I cannot take them seriously. The Tarte brand trips, the Sephora sales, the excessive PR. It used to be something I envied but now I just see it as kind of gross.

Totally agree! I think it would be fun to get PR but I would have so much guilt if I got such massive amount that I couldn't actually enjoy the products.

I agree with all this. I don't use any links to shop, but I will use a discount code on items, I was already interested in and/or replacing products I already use.

You addressed this topic very tactfully and truthfully. I’ve also come to a lot of these same conclusions. I only watch a handful (maybe 5) beauty channels at this point. Thank you for this video!

Thank you! I mostly watch smaller creators with a sprinkle of larger ones that I've grown to trust over the past 7 years.

I stopped watching bigger RUclipsrs. It’s literally just commercials for certain brands at this point. Like good for you but I’m over it. Panners. I trust panners. They’ve used the product a ton to give you a solid review.

So true! I'm starting to discover more smaller channels.
