- SKYDRAMA.NET | Colin Davis @donkeysanddownbursts and I observed a long-lived tornadic supercell near the towns of Salem, New London to Mediapolis in southeast Iowa on Tuesday, April 16th, 2024. After losing this storm to fast storm motions and an inopportune Mississippi River zipped down to a trailing storm approaching Aledo, Illinois observing a nice mothership storm base and later hail and high winds. My GoPro corrupted half of my wide time lapses 😭 should still have plenty for a little vlog but the wide shots were KILLER yesterday

The risks you take when chasing! Still, I'm sorry for the hail damage. That's why we always say, "Oh, hail!" I was wondering if you were chasing yesterday & if there'd be some video!
Lots more video where this came from! It'll be a fun story to tell. Indeed, we chasers usually wear the hail dents as a badge of honor but this was his first time taking the car out!
Great capture of a good tornado! Was hoping we’d all get an Illinois tornado too out of it. Still made not choosing the cold core play sting way less.
Seriously! I absolutely thought we were all about to make the pilgrimage into Illinois and be rewarded with a tornado at dusk. Ah well! Yesterday was what a great April chase in the Midwest is all about.
that RFD was indeed cranking lol, some of the strongest I've ever witnessed.

what was your location when you viewed the tornado?
We observed the tornado generally east of New London up toward Mediapolis. We were on Danville Road running north out of Danville for quite a while before cutting east.
@@AndrewPritchard Nice! I still have to upload the video, but i was able to observe the tornado from the Illinois side of the Mississippi looking into Iowa from new Boston, IL.
