- Today’s menu is Mozzarella Hotdog, which is the hottest Korean street food at the moment.
In Korea, We call corndogs “Hotdogs”, not the original sandwich hotdogs.
Usually, they are sausages wrapped in batter, fried, and sprinkled with sugar, ketchup and/or mustard.
In Korea, There are many types of hotdog. When I can, I will make a potato hotdog.
Ingredients (6ea)
1 package Hotteok mix (preferably with glutinous rice flour), 180ml lukewarm water
4g instant yeast, bread crumbs, 6 cubed mozzarella, 6 vienna sausage, oil for fry
topping: sugar, ketchup, mustard, etc.
Recipe
1. In a bowl, mix the hotteok mix, water and yeast and knead until a ball forms.
2. Put a skewer or wooden chopstick through the sausage and mozzarella.
3. Cover it with batter and coat with bread crumbs.
Brush surface with water if breadcrumbs don't stick to the batter
4. Fry until golden brown and done!
5. Sprinkle with sugar and other sauces as you like.

그냥 핫도그는 이거보다 좀 더 묽은반죽이예요~ 팬케이크 믹스 조금 되직하게 반죽해서 소세지에 묻혀서 튀기시면 비슷할거예요!

You can always re use the oil as long as you store it properly, and don't leave it for too long.

Peace for Food the only unsafe thing about reusing oil is if it becomes rancid and as long as you pay attention to the color and store it properly that won’t happen

Rolling it in sugar kinda put me off, but minus that addition, it looks absolutely amazing.
GirlSproket just like when they make that Issac Toast as well they put on sprinkling of sugar in the sandwich toast. It looks like they love their sugar a bit too much.

just curious, why is it a common preference to put sugar on savory foods in Korea? is the taste popular? I've noticed it a few times in many of the street food videos you've made. ive never tried it before!
yeah we like it a lot haha. why just have one flavor when you can have both? sweet and savory.
Be careful if you travelto corea and crave garlic bread or cheese things...most likely it will be sweet, I get so much disappointed all the time...

What is the hotteok mix? If don't live in Korea or the USA... what's the closest substitute?
Karina Castañeda hotteok is Korean pancakes. So maybe pancake mix will work?
I have the same question :( . But maybe you can search some hottoek video, they will teach you how to make, so you can know what is the hottoek mix is.
People make these kind of corn dogs with pancake mix too, but the pancake mix needs to be really fluffy

저렇게 많은 기름을 쓰고나신뒤에는 다 버리는건가요? 튀김을 하고난뒤에는 기름을 어떻게 처리해야할지 모르겠어요ㅠ
셉틴방탄 그 반대예요. 많으니까 다시 쓸 수 있는겁니다. 적은 양의 기름으로 튀기면 전체적으로 더러워지기 쉬워서 버리는게 좋지만 기름 양이 많으면 금방 산화되지 않으니 빵가루 탄거 체에 걸러서 한두번 재사용해도 됩니다.
셉틴방탄 단지에 폐유처리통이 없으면 신문지같은걸로 흡수시켜서 쓰레기통에 버리세요.
