    1. put sticky pads on the wheels for traction. 2. put pistons on the magnet top plate to raise and lower it for different strengths of attraction. 3. test to see if the attachment point of the piston rods work best on the left or right points of the helicopter engines (further from center on the pull motion will give more torque and closer to center will give more speed but might not have enough touque cousing instability or glitching). also you already basically gave a 2 stroke because there are 2 sets of 2 moving up and down together. offset them for smother action. oh and can you program them with logic gayes to pull up on up stroke and then push down in down stroke? Idk I don't play the game just love the engineering.

Now I wanna see more of Kosmo making engines in games. The sleds were brilliant!

if you set a logic block to minus Value the magnets start pushing. So you could make it a push/pull engine by connecting/activating the magnets with 4 XOR-Gate on negative Values activated by the AND-Gates and 1 permanent ON Distance Sensor. So that the Magnets are on push when the AND-Gates are OFF. If you want to have ON/OFF Control for the pushing add a AND-Gate between the each of the XOR-Gates and the Magnets. But then you have to set those AND-Gates to negativ Numbers instead of the XOR's.
And the value you set in the Logic blocks only determines with how much power the activated Part ist working. iE. a Jet would give only 25% speed if you activate it with a logic set to 0.25.
which can be used to set your speed for dogfights xD.
With just 4 logic gates you can set anything from 10%-100% Power!
Just with the logic blocks set to the values 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 and 0.4 and 1-4+toggle set to activate. The Values add, so all 4 add up to 100%, 2+3 or 1+4 to 50% and so on.
works on Balloons, Buoyancy Blocks, Engines, Pistons and Magnets, well anything that you want to have a increase/decrease in Power by a discrete Value

I look forward to you and Kan getting a better handle on these engines and possibly doing another challenge. I'm really enjoying the technical aspect of these engines

I had the idea to do this but gave up trying to make the pistons move with a realistic combustion like motion, great job man love the content keep it up

The distance sensors needed a longer input. I built several simple motors and used tdc and -10° off that represemted by a small piece following the circumference of the flywheel

You could put a rotating servo (set to a low speed) on the angle sensors to advance or reverse the timing of the Magnets.

Say the same thing I told kAN yesterday, even though I doubt you need it; I imagine you know, given your background. With the repelling magnets, you need the pushing force to occur AFTER TDC. Something around 8-15 degrees. This is the same as IRL Otto cycle reciprocating piston engines. At TDC you have no leverage on the crank, you are applying force on the "bearings" only.

use helicopter engines as bearings where the crank shaft goes through the block. lay the engine down to make it more compact and lower center of mass with windows to see the operation from the top.

referring to my other comment about using pistons to raise and lower the top plate for different strengths of attraction. you will just need to put it on the hinges with the locking pins like you already have on the sides

Couldve really done 90 degree timing, so theres a piston constantly firing. Not sure if it wouldve made any differences. But either way this is super cool.

  • @Fantaman900
    @Fantaman900 Год назад

crossplane crank engines are pretty rare compared to the standard inline 4 crank where both outer and both inner pistons move together 180 degrees apart. Because the 4 stroke process takes 2 rotations you get an even ignition every 180 degrees. crossplane crank with the pistons every 90 degrees actually fires every 90 and 270 degrees. Now that sounds like a twin twin.
The game pistons and magnets act like the 2 stroke where it ignites every time a piston reaches the top instead of every other time. A crossplane can fire every 90 degrees but the standard crank just fires 2 cylinders every 180 degrees. More bang for your buck but not really a twin twin.

You can use stackable helicopter engines as bearings to get the driveshaft through the wall, could be more stable than your collision based solution!

I like this engine, I feel it has more character like an old stright 4 that has some knock or bad plugs 😆 😊
It looks more like the real thing!
    ❤ it!
Is it possible to change the timing in a group with a control block or another timer block, or cockpit?
