When you bring the tail pipes closer your mate could make a alloy heat plate for the rear bumper and close those gaps off either side where the bumpers far away from it. You can always paint it matt black so it won’t stick out and catch your eyes too much. If you’ve not got a boost controller yet get an apexi one as they are easy to set up, can do the fighting pressure to that external waste gate and you could program different boost settings for slow, medium and fast etc.

I would definitely recommend getting a sim racing setup. Gives you pretty good practice without the risk of killing yourself on the road or looking foolish and burning money in auto cross. (Although I can also highly recommend auto cross if you can)
