Russia's problem is low population. It has the resources. It has fairly good technological and scientific base. All it needs is population. If Russia actively promotes population explosion within Russia it can grow economically within one generation. THAT will be a big headache for the world at large, for sure.

But the report given below shows the truth. During the 1962 border conflict, it was the US that came to India's rescue and there were plans to send the USS Kitty Hawk aircraft carrier to the Bay of Bengal to support India against a possible Chinese invasion. Then the US told India not to use fighter planes against the PLA. So what is the use of sending an Aircraft carrier to the Indian Ocean? The idea of using air power at that time on a limited scale made the PLA pull back to the foothills of the southern sides of the Himalayas. The reason was that their fighter planes had no range. So I do not trust the US Govt. They did not offer the military hardware required to fight against China. Fortunately for India, the Govt approached Russia for help. This has helped India to defeat Pakistan and China in future wars. There are people in India who still support the US and leftists support China. S

You are assuming China will send troops. Indications are they will fight with other means e.g. missiles & drones & electronic warfare.

It is premature to talk about whether India is a major power in the world. It is a long way to go and needs a lot of effort to be there. The USA doesn't consider India to be a Major power either and they want to use India as their puppet. I think India should concentrate on itself, work hard and try to avoid wars with any country.
