You had it Sony. You had your live service game that would make money.
And you just shot it in the knee.
The game is bleeding out and it has no stims.
You really think that will effect the game? Literally delusional people who have 2000 Online Accounts but cry about a PSN account, legit how stupid are they?
Sony doesn't like making money. Just look at any movie they make, guaranteed box office bomb (Morbius, anyone?). They saw this game was making them money so they "fixed" it.
They weren't making enough money of it. They see the loyalty the fan base was and how much people really enjoyed playing it. So they did what big corporations do, they get greedy and they fuck it up.
This will not affect their bottom line in any way. No one cares. Remember how bad Cyberpunk was? How Sony and others offered refunds with no questions asked? Yeah their financial reports showed a near-imperceptible effect on their financials. This is people screaming about nothing on the internet because they can. Furthermore, ANY game published by a company like this requires you to make an account with them. Welcome to 2008.

@@UltimaKeyMaster I haven't. I haven't bought any game affiliated with Sony ever since they required Rocket League players to make their own PlayStation accounts just to play with friends and actively blocked anyone from cross-playing on other platforms when platforms like Xbox and Steam could freely play with each other.

They better get that ban hammer out that first time everyone gets wacked while holding an eagle and it drops on the whole team.
@@alaa341g I never had to do this for spider man or horizon, what are you talking about? This is something new with their new bs overlay coming soon and they want to get the players in on their "games for windows live" like bullshit psn overlay for pc. You buy games to play them not to do homework on it. If it is on steam, you buy it and expect to play it. If the account linking was there day 1 and enforced, nobody would care, enforcing this change after 3 months is stupid, especially with the players outside of PSN region who CAN'T EVEN WRITE A REVIEW ANYMORE as they are from a banned country. So being outraged about this is perfectly fine as it could have happened to anyone. Imagine wiping all the saves as the linked PSN account save will take priority and you don't even own a PS or any other stupid excuse to get fucked by. While I don't believe this issue in particular is intended to be covered by Ross Scott's Stop Killing Games campaign, since he is only concerned about what happens to games when publisher support ends. It may inadvertently end up making this kind of practice illegal if the campaign is successful and we get strong consumer laws for games / software in countries like France, Australia or if I am allowed to dream, EU. Please consider supporting the the campaign in any way you can. Unfortunately, for a lot of people the only thing they can do is spread the word. putting your game on steam, whose main thing is the fact that it's the single platform with the biggest game catalog, while asking the users to log on another platform while using steam, is no different if some netflix shows asked you to log on HBO or Disney
I play World of Tanks and you have to be logged in to their launcher from Steam, it's not a big deal. But sounds like PSN is a lot shittier than these other platforms.
A lot of games on steam require you to login to another thing to play a game (even if you are playing single player offline). It's sucks, but it's not new or unique.
@@cbjewelz The real problem with PSN is that they get data breached all of the time, even worse people are expecting a monthly subscription in a few years because of how greedy they are.
Even more worse, even if they said they'd do this in a few months on release they still sold a game to people that eventually wouldn't be able to play it once they implemented this, and to be honest I really doubt they'd have gone through with needing an account if Hell Divers didn't do so well.

Edits: Holy shit, so many likes. Thank you all! I hope to keep the conversation relatively civil, so let's be chill, we all want to play the game.
Alright, from reading, I think a good update on steam could be 2 things; Games cannot implement a forced account after a game releases on the platform. Secondly, when purchasing it should specify if there is a mandatory "third-party" login.
If they did that, they'd have to ban all third party DRM too (E.G. Denuvo). Otherwise companies would just claim that it's it an "antipiracy measure"
And honestly, good riddance if they ban 3rd party DRM. It'd significantly improve the experience for their customers, that's for sure. That being said, I don't think there's any chance of it actually happening
And Steam wouldnt care because they are the Walmart of digital game distribution. Those companies need Steam, Steam doesnt need them. Steam can dictate all the terms.
So what GOG does, basically. Steam probably won't do that as it would endanger most AAA games coming to their platform. Though with their current dominance of the market, they could almost try it and succeed, but I'm not sure the players would accept losing so many major titles either.

Sony literally had a top tier game in their hands. A genuine hit for their Sony Exclusive game with Devs that loved their players and players that loved the game.
