From 0 to 80 is better AC and above 80km the profitability curve start to rise in DC. The more km, more efficiency in DC. Nowadays at China is a mega proyect of 3200km in uhvdc. Ok. Thanks
Answer is, as usual "it depends". The biggest dependency is whether its overhead cable or cable. Its typically over 500km for fully overhead, but at the other extreme salt water is an excellent dielectric so it is more like 30 km for undersea. But the breakeven point also depends upon other things like the amount of power being transmitted and even the price of copper.
You didn't say anything about converter transformers. Why are considerably bigger/havier in comparison with usual power transformer given same power rating. But very good video in general 👍
