  • « LÉO MAJOR: The one-eyed ghost » is a documentary film about the heroic actions of the French Canadian soldier, Léo Major who, during the Second World War, single-handedly liberated the Dutch town of Zwolle and it's 50,000 inhabitants from the nazis. An avenue was dedicated to him, he is remembered and celebrated every year. Although he is venerated in the Netherlands, his accomplishments are still barely known in his homeland.

0:30 _[on the battlefield], when a guy is not afraid of anything, it's simple, you follow him. You're gonna be terrified but you follow._
So true! 😅 An example of this is the capture, and then defense of Hill 335 near Seoul, with 18 of his buddies he's selected for that mission (from the Lachaudière Regiment I think), holding 3 days against 14,000 Chinese who tried to retake it; and against the "suggestion" from his superior officer - who knew him well - to abandon his position because it was perceived as suicidal (without that "strong suggestion", his superior was risking court-martial or demotion, for uselessly sacrificing solders if they got killed)... No one got killed, one slight injury.

@@etdumas1 thats a hippy's version of events. Actually in Vietnam the US Army slaughtered the enemy, trouble was, you would waste 1000 gooks and by Tuesday more of them would come in from China. There were more gooks than the yanks had bullets and time. They should have realized this sooner and not wasted young men's lives.
At least they tried to help someone else from the tyranny of Communism, instead of staying at home eating wine and cheese and letting the world fall apart around them.
