Seattle was one of the safest cities in the states especially U-district back in the 2010's. Everyone used to walk around everywhere at night and have fun. No one really got hurt seems like now everything is changing
@@kristjonpedersen9342 Yup and what's worse is how Seattle natives and Americans in general either pretend the problem isn't "that bad" (like bro, what even is their standard, Gotham City?) or excuse it, saying it's normal for every big city when that's complete nonsense. Kuala Lumpur, Dubai, Abu-Dhabi, Seoul, Tokyo, Osaka, Hong Kong, Singapore, I can go on and on, are these not big cities? Shameless mindset.
Went to UW for 2 years before transferring out and graduating somewhere else. I was happy with my experience and what I learned there (I went there about 15 years ago), however, in hindsight, I would have just started at a community college and then transferred in once I was assured that I got the major that I wanted. I would much rather do CS at a lesser-known (and probably cheaper) school than have to accept a major that I didn't really want to do at UW. In terms of career, you will be far, far better off doing the major you want rather than have to settle for a major that you're not really passionate about. So starting as a pre-engineer at UW is far too stressful to be worth it. Only go there if you got the major you want. I'll also add that for undergrad engineering, the school is not as important as some might think. If you want to go to industry, great companies aren't even requiring college degrees in CS anymore. If you want to do research, then get good grades, do research and try to get something published.
My sister said many people outside of Washington know about UW for rowing, CS, and connections to the tech industry! Looking forward to the next video!!
Oh yeah for sure, I know professors that teach at the Seattle campus and they have some of the most well-known bio/med programs in the country. I regularly hire MDs and Bench scientists who have UW educations both undergrad and graduate. UW is actually internationally known mainly for CS/Engineering and Bio/Med usually with a pharmaceutical focus for bio and either for Med/pre-med.
This stuff is all true, but like they say, it's just a few of the downsides of an otherwise great school. Great insight for people trying to make a well-informed decision. Way to keep it neutral :)
@@purpleguac So being graded on a curve means that if you are the bottom of the class no matter how well you do on an exam you will still fail the test and vice versa?
Its in seattle, they at least heard from far away states especially part of the PAC12, since you’re in West Coast, the large job markets from Portland to all of Cali knows UW is a great school
the weather difference between seattle and cali will be huge. especially if you’re from southern california. most of the time its wet and cold. winter time is sometimes unbearably cold. but if you like dressing in layers, it’s honestly not too horrible. in terms of safety, there is a lot of crime in the surrounding areas of uw. at night time, id definitely suggest walking around with a friend.
Does anyone have any insight into the Environmental studies majors? I would like to pursue that at UW, but what if it is difficult? I can't decideeee :(
Everyone wants to know where you went to school, but they might not know how tough each school is. So, you might not get credit for your achievements outside the area where you attended.
you guys sound soft - every city University has "issues" toughen up a bit and you will be fine. UW ranks #7 in 2022 Best Global Universities Rankings (US news world report) and #21 in Engineering Programs (doctorate), Ranks #36 2022 Best Electrical Engineering Schools (college factual)
We feel its important to inform incoming students about the realities of UW. We only talk about real problems many students often face and are not shy to voice their opinions about. We also preface the video by saying that we love UW and that views should check out our video on why UW is the best.

The armed robberies are basically daily now and some are pretty bizarre (hatchet robberies, attacks, bank robberies with odd weapons).
@@kristjonpedersen9342 omg! Is this in the UW community/ campus or just on the opposing street? Thks
@@crembruley2694 campus and nearby areas. Seattle itself is pretty much a wreck.

This was so informative! You guys are amazing! I wish I was friends with you guys.
thanks for the support

Yeah don't go here because you can't get into the major and they know this, they just admit you for tuition money
Thanks so much for making this video! Super helpful as I’m thinking about where to consider for grad school
Watching this video scares me. I was thinking about going to this school but after watching this video I changed my mind
Thank you for this. So right to the point.
Very honest review, thank you

Thank you for this information. You guys are amazing for putting this together to allow people to make the best decision. Liked and subbed.
How about never being able to find an open seat or couch at Odegaard library? That might have changed since 1991.
Thanks for the insight!
Do you think a california student would like it up there (the cold weather), and also is it really not that safe

the unreported sexual assaults and bodly assaults are terrible, the school has its own damage control lawyers in place at all times.
I’m conflicted: UW or Cal Poly SLO for mech e????!!!!!!!
How difficult it is to get into mechanical engineering from engineering undeclared.

UW is no longer a regional school. It is as good as UCLA especially in CS and some engineering disciplines.
What about large class sizes and the inability to get classes so you graduate on time?
What microphone is being used in this video?
Amazing, informative video
Do transfers need to take those weedout classes?

huh huh he said "weed out classes" hahahaha that's hilarious
:D
I may take computer science there.
This sounds so depressing
Ah yes... UW weedouts... (from a fellow boundless child)
my sister was planning on bio engineering she got chemical engineering though
go for it
prestigious uni only for smart ppl
smart ppl dont listen to anyone untill they get the real taste
i'll still just go to this uni
good video
Lol....you guys are too funny! Anything to minimize your competition. Your cheeks are so full of your tongues! Lol
