Kaysler did you read the title
David Bob apparently not well...
If this is such a """"hot"""" category, where is the """"hot"""" pockets?
you forgot when poo GrandPOOBear crashes MitchFlowerPower console for the first time and then the second time
Aww Poo's voice was trembling when he said "he's gonna do the wrongwarp" at 1:01:04 he felt so bad. Poor guy must have felt so embarrassed. Unreal sportsmanship from both of them though like this is probably the best outcome you could have had. Mad respect for both the runners
I came here only to see Poo manipulate RNG by kicking the console
LMAO
Jernej Fric
I just love how it’s become a joke now, “poo uses super kick!”
19:33 The Stomp
56:55 The Second Crash
1:02:50 "I am so close"
I love how Poo just went “Nooo!” And immediately after Mitch goes “Nooooooooo!”
Didn't poo unplug the other console
Wtf is going on on 1:02:50?
56:58
Noo
Aww
NOO
OHH
@@MarcosVAlves87 wrong warp
it is mario 3. you have to play 3 times. it is the new rule
Props to GDQ for giving poo holographic legs that have collision physics
Poo used earthquake!
It's super effective!
NES fainted.
(I guess the NES is electric type~)
umbaupause
Lol
Don't read the comments before watching. Make sure you go in blind!
devmas I've heard something happened but I don't remember what...
lmao luckily you're the first comment I saw when I scrolled down
devmas so I shouldn't have read this comment either?
smoothSnake23
*Especially* not this comment.
That was the only comment i read. Thenk you for the heads up.
It’s so unfortunate that the run got messed up, but as a result the sportsmanship they both demonstrated made this my favorite run of the whole SGDQ.
I was going to reply, but this says it all!
That ending was simultaneously hilarious and heartbreaking! Here's to a rematch next year.
Or half year, next is AGDQ 2019
Unfortunately, I heard Grandpoobear's not going to be at AGDQ next year; he's expecting a child.
when are you supposed to make a baby? in your 40s?
he's speedrunning bebe making
This will go down as one of the best and most eventful races ever.
Exactly. Weird how a faulty console can be behind one of the most memorable GDQ races ever. And I'm sure poo generally felt bad but he shouldn't have. He made GDQ history.
@@honestinsincerity2270 man i felt so sorry for him . That habit to stomp or do smth like that . You can't surpress such behavior so easily . That was such an awkward moment . He felt so bad about it but it was still entertaining . Kinda hard to watch but rly enjoyable on the other hand . So weird 😄
2 years later I was honestly looking forward to Mitch beating Bowser with the hammer suit and forgot about the second stomp.
Some of my favorite races from GDQ are the goofy ones. Like the Sonic 1 run where the runner keeps resetting the console and the mirrors edge "glitchless" run lol. And of course this run now. I think part of what makes GDQ so enjoyable (at least to me) is that speed running is usually really competitive and the runners are always going for a PB if not a WR. Whereas at GDQ they're there just to have fun with the community and show off some cool strats.
I love how good of sports these guys were about the technical issues. I wonder if GDQ would consider using some kind of custom hardware to make it more stable next time. Maybe some kind of fan re-built system that's more stable. Or even a toploader NES, I've heard those are much better about not glitching out when moved.
Mah-Dry-Bread - Gameplay & Streams! They just need to keep the NES away from Poo's legs haha.
@Matt Snyder What legs?
You're right, Poo Bear has metal stumps like Star Fox that's what caused the shock wave that froze Mitch's console.
I want to see SMB3 All Forts Legless at AGDQ. Don't worry poo, it was all fun.
Respect to both of the players. I'm very sorry for mitch, but I'm happy that he took it with humor. Hope I will see them next time again.
This run is just too wholesome.
That was a rollercoaster from start to finish. Great sportsmanship from both players, they were obviously having a lot of fun :)
What's the plural way to say "what a guy"? Because the sportsmanship from both players was unreal.
I'll go with "what two guys" !
"what a bunch of troopers!"
Lemphek they sure STORMED through that game ! ... c- cause storm troopers, s- see what I did there ?... hahah
I need a shower now
"These guys!"
Runs like this are whi I think SGDQ '18 has been the best GDQ in a long time. Huge props for Poo and Mitch making the most of a bad situation, and I can't wait to see the rematch.
This is legit like the Pay-Per-View Grand Finale of GDQ. These guys are probably my 2 favorite runners, the conversation and jokes make the show fantastic!! I could feel Poo's heart break...ouch!! Mitch is always a great sport too, I'd never expect anything less. You guys deserve your own TV show!! Thanks for the awesome run!!
Somebody needs to clean those NESes and get them off the floor! The console's gotten so old and delicate that you need to take care of them so this kind of thing doesn't happen.
It's so amazing to see how distraught Poo is over the mishap, and how cool Mitch stays under the pressure of the situation. Both are awesome guys with remarkable gamesmanship & attitudes!
It's weird how a technical issue can make the most memorable moment of the entire event. I know it musta been bad when it was happening, but if anything Poo should not have felt bad for GDQ or the crowd. The way they handled it made this the thing everyone will try to live up to for the next 10 GDQs. And I'm sure it cranked the donation flow up to full blast. If I were GDQ I'd not only be praising these guys but hoping to God that at least one console an event is that fragile.
Thank you for the uploads, still trying to cope with the event being over ;-;
Crippling Anxiety Same here bud. But we'll all see each other in 6 months at agdq 2019.
Rewatching this made me realize Mitch's NES was going to crash no matter what. That kind of lag in a not very graphic intense screen tells me it was not happy being played.
This was such a good race to watch live and is still good years later as a VOD. Props to both of them for their efforts and sportsmanship.
Rematch at GDQE in October?
Poo must wear Hammer Bros suit entire run
Just the best and most fun runs I've ever witnessed on GDQ. I never laughed so hard on a run such as this one lmao. Congratulations guys, and don't worry Poo, we know it wasn't on purpose, and it was too funny!
Who's ultimately at fault here? I realize that GPB was the one who stomped and jiggled the NES which caused the initial crash, but that shouldn't normally happen so easily. Did the carts not get checked well enough prior to the actual race? Can this be prevented in the future?
In any case, watching this live was quite a trip, special props to Mitch in particular for being so able to mentally recover and remembering that "the show must go on", as they say
Ollie Zoop yes by placing them on a table
The first one was Poo, it really doesn't take a lot to screw with these old cart based systems. Even back in the late 90s this would happen to my snes and n64 when me and my siblings got hyped up. The 2nd and 3rd ones were probably a symptom of a cart that was just loose enough to cause an issue or just an old console, which to be fair the nes is 30+ years old. Unfortunate that it happened but a good race none the less.
Ultimately it's probably the nature of live events with tight schedules and running on 30 year old hardware. I believe it was briefly mentioned in the post run interview that mitch's nes was having issues before the run, but I guess they either decided it was good enough to use or couldn't swap it out due to lack of time or spares. GDQ has a habit of not being the most well managed event when it comes to proper setup though, which I'm sure helps contribute to issues like this.
The game crashed when poo stood up, not when he stomped, I want to say it was a random crash at an inopportune time
I couldn't figure out why poo was so upset. I didn't realize that it was his stomping/standing that causes the crash, now it all makes sense. Props to Mitch for being such a good sport, and keeping it lighthearted
I think this is the gold standard of games done quick. Good commentary, good donation reader, good runs, sportsmanship, and just everyone having fun.
If you are looking for the moments they are at 19:35 and 56:55
it was so sweet of poo to stop and wait up for mitch when his game froze. true sportsmanship man
Makes millions of dollars for charity each year, can't afford a table to put consoles on.
It was funny how after the second crash someone says “We’ve got a problem” - what an understatement!
I feel so bad for Poo, poor guy felt so bad.
Very nice to see that sportsmanship!
Sadly you couldn't make it, but watching was awesome though.
The craziness with the run make it one of the best I've watched.
Why do you still put the consoles there? This already happened once before during the Link to the Past run about 1 year ago
canebro1 I think the comment is referring to the physical location of the consoles, not a question of why they use them.
exactly, their placement. This is not the first time that someone by accident causes a crash during a race of all things
They should start using NES classic instead of the old NES.
2 reasons:
1) Controller cords only stretch so far, and I don't know if extenders introduce lag.
2) GDQ isn't the greatest with setups.
Buy a coffee table from Ikea.... Problem solved, no more resets from people stamping feet.
Enjoyed so much both the run and sportmanship from this guys, can't wait to catch the next GDQ and support
I swear, every time I start watching this, I'm like "I don't remember this at all... Have I seen this?" Then we get to The Stomp, and I go "Ohhhhh, THIS ONE. This is gonna be good!" and strap in for the ride. 😂
Yo poo, that was a tough day man. Let me say this though, kicking Mitch’s box off twice did not in any way reduce the entertainment value of this race. You guys are super funny together and really impressive runners.
Best speedrun event ever.
Poo should have just let Mitch finish the game on his side, that would have been awesome and would have made for the best ending to a run.
AMAZING RUN! so fun and the sportsmanship, great showing of mitch and poo!
This was a great example of sportsmanship. Would love to see more people like that. Bravo.
Im a casual GDQ watcher, but these two guys are the only runnera I actually look up every event, they are so chill and such nice guys, its just so nice to see them.
huge props to mitch for coping with all the diverse problems and making that a truly entertaining run!!!! easily one of the best moments of sgdq18.
not poo's fault, he is still getting used to his new false legs :-))
Amazing fun - great runners - awesome time even long after the fact. Thanks all for the great time.
This was one of the best runs ever!!! I love it!!!
This event was great! Even games I never even heard of I found myself watching and being amazed at what I was seeing. Can’t wait till next year.
This GDQ game will be always in our hearts.
What a lovely run by these two man. Definitely best run of SGDQ18 at least for me
This run is "in-the-nutshell" what GDQ is all about. ^_^
Sportmanship, caring, rooting and GAMING!!!
I'm really happy I decided to watch this. Easily my favorite race ever
The most wholesome of runs. Mitch and Poo and like the real life Mario Bros.
Props to Mitch and POOBear for their great sportsmanship here! I wish more gamers were like this!
Found this massively entertaining! With all the ups and downs
I'm actually really glad the one dude waited after the crash. Classy move and it honestly kept the race fun.
Seems it was mostly Mitch's console and not only Poo's stomping, Mitch even mentions at 21:05 "funny how mine froze and yours didn't". In the 3 crashes (granted by the 3rd Poo was done) it was only Mitch's console that died.
Still, super cool race and their sportsmanship and kindness to each other made it even better!
The entire speedrunning community is great, BUT
Mitchflowerpower, GrandPooBear and Skybil for commentary is my favorite combination of personalities in the entire scene. Love this video and Mitch's run of Gand Poo World 2!
I really look forward to these SMB runs every GDQ! Great games but oh, so great runners!
I've watched this more times than any other run, so SO entertaining
Probably should have tested Mich's console before the run. Lol
It was poo stomping that caused it both times, hence all the apology
Poo barely moved for the second crash. If the console can't handle that then the console shouldn't be used at a big event like this. Obviously Poo's console didn't have the same issue.
Perhaps if the consoles were placed on a slightly bump resistant surface, although I can't think of anything more suitable than a simple solid table without getting excessively fancy (like shock absorbers).
the stomping caused the first one. The second one was the control throw thow im not sure how it caused it tho the game coulda still been loose from the crash 1.
the problem is the controller length is notoriously short so they cant put the consoles in a safer location
OriginalPiMan well said and completely true. Even though this made for a great event, it should not have happened.
Despite everything going tits up this is still one of my favourite runs ever. Just great banter great audience and great fun
I felt so bad for GrandPOOBear...He has come a long way...the way you played that was amazing bro...just another reason why I am such a big fan!
This whole thing was so dramatic from start to finish, this was the highlight of GDQ for me
19:33 I live tweeted it at the time, and I'll say it again here: That has to be the defining moment of #SGDQ2018. Bravo to both of you guys!
It's both heartbreaking and touching how absolutely gutted Poo is. It goes beyond sportsmanship, these guys really care about each other. One of the most memorable GDQ runs of all time, I'm so glad I got to watch it live.
Great race. Even greater sportsmanship. Damn shame about the crashes.
Best sportsmanship that I've seen for a GDQ event!
That is some cool sportsmanship by both guys. Remember, A race is no fun on your own!
Famous last words "The RNG is shining on me right now..."
P.S. Boom Boom gets the participation award.
wow, my two faviorte 2-d focused Mario runners (wow I had to make that really specific but I watch a lot of runs!) duking it out! should be an amazing race!
Poo stopping for mitch was so sweet. It's what makes me love this community
AGDQ is simply awesome 💜
WE THE PEOPLE DEMAND A REMATCH!
This was such a crazy run against each other and it was so awesome
Cant stop watching this run till today :)
Not every Boom Boom died - do we truly know if World 1F Boom Boom really died?!
Are we sure that Mitch's cart isn't cursed or something?
Softlocks and resets galore, and even when he finally got to the end of the game, Mario got lost in the code and Peach is left crying in a dark room.
Best race of the marathon though, by far, possibly the best run overall, MitchxPoo otp XD
For the rematch, make sure to have the consoles on pedestals 20 feet apart
oh man, the sportsmanship after that game freeze. so wonderful
It's not the greatest of runs, but it's the authentic NES experience... I can almost feel the blisters on my thumbs.
1:03:55 is the creepypasta ending. It should be its own category.
That sportsmanship
Can someone please explain what marbles marbles marbles means? I’ve heard it on several gaming videos now
I was really hoping for Poo and Mitch to hug at the end, FeelsBadMan
New category for SMB3: Stomp%
Excellent sportsmanship everywhere.
What an emotional rollercoaster.
I wonder how the GDQ think about this one, I feel like both people watching and the crowd had a blast, I hope the issues doesn't affect them coming back etc.
Guys, there's another all forts race that might happen at sgdq today, but we need to race 89k in an hour towards that incentive. Please consider helping out so we can witness the rematch of the century!
Such a hot category!
For those of you coming to see the console freezing, go to 56:58
I can't wait to see the rematch!
#PooDidNothingWrong
One of the better runs this year
Wait, why did they go into the pipe in 6-5? Can't you just fly over the ice to the end of the level with the P-Wing?
Whats going o , is Poo kicking his nes or what? :p
Nah, first time he stomped his foot and the second one he dropped his controller on the floor, but it was enough to make Mitch’s NES glitch out. Unfortunate but it can happen with old hardware.
I believe that you believe this... I don't want to ruin your day and call you out. It's just not possible that this happened, Poo doesn't even have legs.
Lol, next time they need to have the nes' suspended in bungy chords or some gyro thing keeping it steady :D
Don't saw the run in the marathon. But this one... Wow. Mitchflowerpower and Grandpoobear are both great and just press f for Poo nice Team-player!
I miss these moments... Man I hope summer GDQ can not be online only...
The hottest SMB3 category on RUclips!
Much respect to Poo. That's sportsmanship right there.
I was in the crowd on the left! Super fun, I can't wait to see you guys have a rematch!
one hell of a great run guys!
