Thanks for visiting my channel! This Guardian Farm will output around 15,000 Prismarine Shards and Crystals and Raw Cod per hour. But at the end of the video I show you how to use pack-spawning mechanics to increase the output to over 31,000! What do you think of my Guardian Farm design? Is it easier to build than some others? Will you build this in your world?
Hallo! I‘ve only found you a short time ago with your staircase, walls and towers. They helped me a lot, so thank you for that! You said in that last video that the next one would be about building a castle. I am looking forward to that. Just wanted to give a quick thank you and thumbs up. Love your work!
I drained an ocean monument without an idea for what the farm would be. I was hunting for guardian farm tutorials and came across this one. pleasant to watch and easy to follow. the drops are insane.... and it's nice to look at! thank you thank you thank you for this tutorial. I now have an unlimited source of blocks in my world and it feels amazing. my new temp block is Prismarine 😄
Despite the great guidance from dudieboy, this is still a grueling project. I have a few quality of life tips that I found made my life a little easier while doing this. 1) if you have access to a beacon, its definitely useful to set it up for this project. With a haste 2 beacon, an efficiency 5 pickaxe, and an aqua affinity helmet, you can actually instant-mine prismarine while underwater as long as you are standing or swimming against a surface below you. I find that this speeds up the initial demolition more than having depth strider on my boots. Since I had access to all those puzzle pieces, my 1 piece of armor I used while invisible was my helmet. After mining out all the blocks of the monument with aqua affinity I switched to the boots to get the faster swim speed. 2) An efficiency 5 hoe can instant mine sponges. This will drastically reduce your time punching sponges during the draining process. 3) even though manually drying sponges in the nether has no fuel cost and is technically faster than using furnaces, I actually found that the best use of my time was to keep 2 furnaces on site with a couple stacks of charcoal. I would drain a slice, then throw the 2 stacks of wet sponges into the 2 furnaces, then I would build the next wall of sand while the sponges dried. This meant that the time drying sponges was completely negligible, because the time it took me to build the wall always took longer than the time the furnaces took to dry the sponge. If you're hurting for fuel obviously this isn't necessary. But I found that even with being able to instant mine the sponge with my hoe, placing and breaking 2 stacks of sponge in the nether was way less convenient than just throwing the wet sponges into the furnaces to dry while I placed sand and prepped for the next slice. 4) 9:41 this isn't new because he literally explains this right here, but I was a fool and ignored this advice. I just started trying to drain the 4 wide gap of water because I thought it would be fine. It's not. It's a huge pain to drain a 4 wide slice of water and definitely worth following his advice and just building the extra wall.
lol when I drained a ocean monument I made the walls 6 blocks apart instead of 3, because the wiki said that a sponge has a 6 wide draining radius. DONT be stupid like me it's a pain to drain and you need more sponges
fastest way to place sand is an observer, piston, and 3 redston, place the sand in front of the piston and just hold down right click. once the sand stops being pushed just relocated farther up.
That was amazing. Ive taken over one of these monuments but i kept the outside structure and turned it into my house lol. I used dirt blocks to clear out all the water out of the monument and i went in from underneath the monument. Theres another monument about 1000 blocks away and i might do this farm. Thank you for this.
If you figure for the correct drop chute distance, you dont need the campfires, because guardians will die on impact. If you use water buckets in dispensers, you can catch the guardians, for use as an xp farm as well. Cubfans design for a dropchute for xp is one of the better designs ive used. Even though the guardian thorns will prick you, youll have plenty of cod for food to offset the damage, and the xp is worth it. Also, your armor will always be mending as you use it, so just make sure your gear has mending.
You can also make this farm hidden, if you keep all your blocks just below the water, build a glass or slab roof, and then cover that with water to simulate ocean. If another player gets close, they may see the farm, but if theyre travelling at a distance, itll be hard to see. Just avoid using sea lanterns toward the top ofthe build, or, dont use glass for the walls, so light cant escape at night, and give the farm away. Underwater bases are harder to find, and if done properly, you can conceal this build beneath the waves. Connect a tunnel with a hiddden enterance under the ocean, or connected to a close landmass. Just go out a little ways, so if any guardians spawn outside the walls, they wont be a nuisance.
This was a great farm and easy to build, draining the ocean notwithstanding. :) Your tutorial is excellent. Might be nice to pause occasionally so we can see a larger view of what was just completed, but ultimately your explanations are clear and fairly easy to follow. I made everything exactly as you have and used your modified sorting system (where you recomment using 4 jack-o-lanterns instead of 3 on the top layer w/ the comparator). I get great ddrop rates when I afk from the platform, but have found that it may be moving too fast for the sorting system to keep up. I've found my renamed stackables in chests along w/ non-stackables. Once that happens, everything just drops everywhere and all sorting goes out the windows. If I stand relatively close, it still works, but the output is much slower. My question is: Have you seen anything like this and do you any suggestions on how to keep it from happening? I was consisering removing the water flow from after the ice block and just using hoppers, but I think that might slow it down even more. It's a minor inconvenience and nothing more. As far as this farm goes, it works as designed. Just gets messy when I use the platform and sorting breaks. Thanks for the great tutorial!
@@dudieboy Thanks for the reply! The sorting hoppers (the ones that go into the comparators) are on the same level as the ice block. The jack-o-lanterns, another row of hoppers and the first level of chests on on the next level down. I think I've matched what you did here based on what I'm seeing around 14:40 in the video. it is working, just somehow gets out of whack when I'm on the platform.
You could build a simple redstone contraption to help drop the sand, there are several tutorials from other youtubers that show how. It saves a lot of time dropping the gravity blocks.
I just made this on the SMP I play on. They have Redstone limits per chunk and guardians don't drop anything unless killed by the player, so no camp fires for me and had to make the collection area 2x2. It still works though because water is pushing them from one corner to the collection corner. Thanks for this design.
This is a great vid for showing how to drain the monument, its efficient, and ive probably built aalmost a dozen guardian farms over the last few years, and it works great. But this "tank" design, isnt exactly original, ive been using it for a longer time than this video. Also, use a hoe with efficiancy V to break sponges, its instant. Guardian farms have A LOT of space, so dont be afraid to build a base here too, and then you dont need to afk, especially because the loot dropped comes so fast, that youll run out of storage before you know it. hey, great video. does the efficiency of the farm drop if you try afking below ground? just wondered about making an iteration which could work for xp, but don't know if the rates will be consistent if i make a bigger drop etc
@@Jupedd If you position your afk spot below ground it will retain efficiency if you find and light up all spawn points in all caves in a 128 block radius around the AFK spot. It’s just a lot of extra work and that’s why I didn’t recommend it in the video.
@@Jupedd Sure! There's a video by ianxofour where he uses bubble columns to push the Guardies up to the AFK spot, that might be the best way to make a Guardian XP Farm. ruclips.net/video/dfwsIpmOwd4/видео.html

@@Jupedd Yes, that row of droppers that spit out the items have to be within 128 blocks of the AFK spot or they won’t work properly. If you move it down, then adjust your AFK platform and move it down by as many y blocks

@@dudieboy hi, thank you very much for your feedback, I already figured out what the problem was, it turns out it slows down critically when you are nearby, and I thought that it does not work at all because I did not saw the guards

Good video, but there is one problem with uour auto dropper design. If items lsnd on the last row of hoppers (the ones over the redstone torches), the items wont go through until the front two gst items due to the torches locking the hoppers.
True, and it can be fixed by adding another row of hoppers on top of the droppers (so 2 rows of hoppers). But it's an expensive fix, and during an AFK session the items just pour through the system, anyway. If you've been AFK for a while, it's not like you experience any shortage of materials. :)
Hey I built the farm like you showed and it worked great, however i tried to make it look better by expanding the white glass roof you made till the walls, it stopped working and just so i know would that have any effect on the guardian spawns? This issue is my fault not yours, as i said the farm works amazingly as you showed it.
Just built a modified version of this farm in 1.20.4 and used your glass roof mechanic. It is absolutely RAINING guardians through the primary chute. I'm sending items through an item stream and 2x item filters can keep up since there's no looting effect. Do you know how to run a mod to count the mobs dying/spawning or item drops per hour?
Nice! To my knowledge there is the Carpet Mod by gnembon or the Item Averages datapack at Vanilla Tweaks under the Utilities category: vanillatweaks.net/picker/datapacks/
Hey! I just did the farm and I have the following problems: 1. The farm produces less than 1/100 of the guardian products promised (less than 300/hr). 2. The guardians die of fall damage and not fire, so it does not bring anything to have the soulfire
So does the redstone torch turning off the hopper cause it to back up and cause lag, or is the items coming through enough to allow everything to flow freely enough?
I have upgraded the crap out of my PC over the years and even with 128Gb of RAM and running Minecraft at 8Gb to match my GPU, I still cannot increase Java's render distance beyond 16 chunks, especially when flying. If I enable shaders it's even worse, so I'd stick close to the default of 12-16.
Does it have to be with the same block shown in the video? I did the same thing but with another type of block and almost nothing is born, 2 are born every minute
@@dudieboy Never mind I meant the F3+G Chunks. There was no middle chunk because the middle point was a chunk border and not such a chunk. I just build it on the border, still works well 10k drops an hour
Bedrock player (who is now playing Java for the first time) and the issue with BR is that the guardians have complicated dedicated spawn points. Once you know said spawn block, you have the basics of a farm. But getting those spawns are HORRID. I made Prowls guardian farm back in 1.19 I believe
is there a way to make this an xp farm? ive made it my my own world and m hoping to use for xp. mabye afk underground but how low could i go and will the gardians still spawn??? plz need a hand ive been stuck tryin to make it work
Guardians are the worst source of XP because they inflict Thorns type damage. But instead of dropping them, you could use soul sand in the 4x4 gap and raise a center column full of water to flush them up to the AFK spot and trap them under iron trapdoors to kill them.
Trident killers kill them with looting they drop more mats too. Or tp them to a group and use instant damage potions. Guardians are the highest source of xp but require a lot of prep. get xp and just gonna have to find a way to get the items and xp to the afk part and have your storage there instead
@@thejellyfishlord8016 I’m sorry! I wish Guardians spawned the same in both Java and Bedrock, these videos get so many comments from Bedrock players. But if you spent the time draining the monument already then hopefully the Bedrock version is easy to build.
@@WesMyBeloved There’s no point raising them up or down, so I assume you mean in width and length? Sure but you’ll need more materials and if you spread them out you need Packed Ice and signs to extend the water flows. I designed and presented it this way to make it easier for more people to replicate.
Looks like an insane farm. However, I don't think it's worth the time building your farm. I don't see a reason why you would ever want that many prismarine shards etc. in such a short time. Might be worth it once we got more decoration options for prismarine shards. I'm not saying your farm is bad, but probably not worth the time. I guess you spent around 10 hours building this, no?

@@Jupedd If you position your afk spot below ground it will retain efficiency if you find and light up all spawn points in all caves in a 128 block radius around the AFK spot. It’s just a lot of extra work and that’s why I didn’t recommend it in the video.
@@dudieboy alright, thanks!
@@Jupedd Sure! There's a video by ianxofour where he uses bubble columns to push the Guardies up to the AFK spot, that might be the best way to make a Guardian XP Farm. ruclips.net/video/dfwsIpmOwd4/видео.html
@@dudieboy sorry if im bothering, I'm also just wondering if it's bad to have the item collection systems a couple blocks lower. I made a bit of a different mechanism for the droppers at the bottom, which puts it a few blocks lower. im pretty sure it loads and still works, but can there be problems? also, if so, can i either move the afk platform lower or the campfires higher to fix the issue? thanks in advance!
@@Jupedd Yes, that row of droppers that spit out the items have to be within 128 blocks of the AFK spot or they won’t work properly. If you move it down, then adjust your AFK platform and move it down by as many y blocks
Im going to build this one I think, more work but it looks so cool
Hi, built it exactly the same, but it doesn’t work at all, seems like they do not spawn in columns of bubbles, or other reason, maybe it just a java problem or I don’t get some thing
@@АндрейБредихин-ы1ч Hello. I can’t provide support for this comment, not enough info. Is there some way you can make your world save available, like maybe a Dropbox link? Otherwise you can seek assistance in my Discord.
@@dudieboy hi, thank you very much for your feedback, I already figured out what the problem was, it turns out it slows down critically when you are nearby, and I thought that it does not work at all because I did not saw the guards
I realized at the end I built it some what off center, assuming it won’t be as efficient but wud it still work for the purpose of just getting a decent amount of prismarine
Should be alright!
use a auto block pusher for tthe sand
I am going to build this in my Minecraft survival little server and ceedit you :3
Awesome,have fun!
I would not have expected that result either! Yes, try removing the white glass and see if it resumes production, lol
@@dudieboy I did and it went back to normal, tried researching a bit on guardian spawning but couldn't find anything that would explain it 🤷🏻
Just built a modified version of this farm in 1.20.4 and used your glass roof mechanic.
Hey! I just did the farm and I have the following problems:
1. The farm produces less than 1/100 of the guardian products promised (less than 300/hr).
2. The guardians die of fall damage and not fire, so it does not bring anything to have the soulfire
This farm is for Java only. Did you build it on the Bedrock version?
still working in 1.21.1?
Why would you put 1.11 in the title? Bubble Columns weren't introduced till 1.13?
Good point, thanks
So does the redstone torch turning off the hopper cause it to back up and cause lag, or is the items coming through enough to allow everything to flow freely enough?
i built the outer tanks an extra block apart and only realized once i connected them to the center one.... this is going to take a while
how many blocks above the campfires is your AFK platform as I altered the layout of the farm slightly
For some reason i needed to remove the redstone torches for the dropper system to work
Weird!
Does this still work in 1.20? It's gorgeous
Yes it does!
Hey i got a guestion! Why are they spawning so slowly? I built the way you did. Can you help or give some advice?
They’re not supposed to spawn slowly at all. To figure out what went wrong I’d need a link to a world download
Just made it but no guardians are spawning I did everything exactly as instructed
nice!
Thanks!
I don't get why i should make that white stained glass roof? Don't mobs will just spawn below it?
Pack spawning exploit, doubles the farm output as explained. Mobs won’t spawn under it, only Guardians spawn within the monument. 🙂
why guardians don't spawn on the soul sand?
When is the next castle tutorial video coming!
Soon
what render distance and simulation distance do you recommmend?
I have upgraded the crap out of my PC over the years and even with 128Gb of RAM and running Minecraft at 8Gb to match my GPU, I still cannot increase Java's render distance beyond 16 chunks, especially when flying. If I enable shaders it's even worse, so I'd stick close to the default of 12-16.
@@dudieboy thanks man! I appreciate it a lot!
so the glass platform is at y 61?
Will the soul campfires kill the guardians faster?
Technically yes but Guardians are weak against fire which means the difference in kill time is negligible. Especially after the 30 block drop
do u need to use these pacific block or can u use just any blocks?
@@35zxcd56 No, use any blocks
Question do I keep the conduit in the farm after completing the farm
If for some reason you want to swim under it maybe? But no, you can tear it down after demolishing the rest of the monument.
Does it have to be with the same block shown in the video? I did the same thing but with another type of block and almost nothing is born, 2 are born every minute
The block doesn’t actually matter. Must be in Java edition, must be within the bounding box of the monument (where Guardies spawn).
I have a gaurdian farm where the middle is exactly all chunk borders. What should I do?
Not sure what you mean, the chunk borders do not intersect in the middle?
@@dudieboy Never mind I meant the F3+G Chunks. There was no middle chunk because the middle point was a chunk border and not such a chunk. I just build it on the border, still works well 10k drops an hour
can build anything like this in bedrock all the farms don’t look pleasant and I want to both drain and build a farm wich I can’t do with most farms
I agree, Bedrock Guardian Farms look bad and seem like they operate worse. But no, this only works on Java 😔
Bedrock player (who is now playing Java for the first time) and the issue with BR is that the guardians have complicated dedicated spawn points. Once you know said spawn block, you have the basics of a farm. But getting those spawns are HORRID. I made Prowls guardian farm back in 1.19 I believe
How large is the base of this? The dimensions. I cant tell if its the same size as the monument or bigger
The outer walls are built right on the edge of the monument base.
is there a way to make this an xp farm? ive made it my my own world and m hoping to use for xp. mabye afk underground but how low could i go and will the gardians still spawn??? plz need a hand ive been stuck tryin to make it work
Guardians are the worst source of XP because they inflict Thorns type damage.
Work on 1.20 or 1.20+ ?
The guardians aren't spawning for me, any tips? On bedrock
This farm is for Java
@@dudieboy yeah just noticed haha sorry thanks anyway
@@thejellyfishlord8016 I’m sorry! I wish Guardians spawned the same in both Java and Bedrock, these videos get so many comments from Bedrock players. But if you spent the time draining the monument already then hopefully the Bedrock version is easy to build.
@@dudieboy hopefully, I managed to get rid of it all and built this, I'll probably just make a different temple and live in it

can we extand the water tank ?
@@WesMyBeloved There’s no point raising them up or down, so I assume you mean in width and length? Sure but you’ll need more materials and if you spread them out you need Packed Ice and signs to extend the water flows. @@dudieboy do i need a high render distinct to stand at the afk spot ?
@@WesMyBeloved No, render distance is horizontal

Will it still work in 1.20?

Looks like an insane farm. However, I don't think it's worth the time building your farm. I don't see a reason why you would ever want that many prismarine shards etc. in such a short time. Might be worth it once we got more decoration options for prismarine shards. I'm not saying your farm is bad, but probably not worth the time. I guess you spent around 10 hours building this, no?
Or more, I’ve built it many times now in creative and survival. I love Dark Prismarine, and it looks great mixed with some of the new copper grates in 1.21. And a good supply of Sea Lanterns is always useful in any big builds.
Kinda sad that so much people kinda ignore this video :(
My last guardian farm video took several weeks to gain traction, I’m not worried

Bro 13:02 is the most confusing shit ever...
You cut the video and the little room looks entirely different, you never look up at all, like wth
Perhaps turn on the closed captions, that might help you understand the redstone
from 12:45 to 13:00
Your instructions DO NOT MATCH WHAT YOU DID in that time frame!
"Dig 3 highon the NORTH side" [check] easy
"Then dig 2 high corridor around the" ..... what? you dig two high and two forwards (deep)
:digs two high by 2 deep:
Then at (edited video) 13:00 shows 2 high but not the 2 deep you dug seconds prior.... wth
Then you cut the video so much it's like you don't want ppl to see the build layout.
Edit* I've worked it out.... not huge drops but its on a server so wish me luck
Try the world download in the description. Look around in spectator mode, I’m sure it’ll make sense.
@@dudieboy I've completed it. However not many spawn. I think it's due to the server settings. I'm about to build the white glass portion to see if it helps. Thanks
