In all four of our tractors (case, john deere, valtra and fendt) we have at the farm we got that speed/rpm controls but maybe that is a swedish/euro thing
I love digital stuff, but I have yet to see things hold up in a heavy duty environment. I don't think I am mistaken but the bold tractors had this same feature for the most part mechanically. Put it in a gear and set rpm via throttle stick. Pretty cool feature if it will last!!
strange, this video pops up today. Posted 4 days ago?! Weird
same
artcold1 yes, but after this upload date
I was wondering if it had something do to with the hacking of the account.
Anyone know why?
Same.
Yanmar has always made a good small diesel. You have a compact utility tractor. It is designed to do nothing particularly well but rather a lot of things adequately for a short period of time. A skidsteer/mini excavator/backhoe with a similar attachment will always outperform with more reliability and resale value vs a sub compact. Your Yanmar is a Honda Civic with some trim. Calling it special really means cheap enough to get the job done, but inadequate for a big job.
Not sure if your tractor has an adjustable draft control for the 3pt. If it does it's set wrong. Your implement should not walk up and down in the video as it is. Any tractor over 40 hp is supposed to have a category 2 hitch, but yours has a light category 1 according to Yanmar's brochure. Probably something they should fix either in the brochure or on the tractor.
My 55HP New Holland Utility tractor has a Cat 1 hitch. At least it has cat one size holes in the lift arms anyway. I prefer it this way as I don't really need to use any cat 2 implements. It does have a lift capacity of 3300 lbs though.
I would love to see a full review of your tractor. I think you would have a good perspective on its features, pros and cons. Thanks!
I do have yanmar tractor, but one thats over 30 years old, F20d to be exact. Really good design, simple and robust (with an option to engage 4WD) yet with added functionality like cruise control (mechanical). The only downside of this one is that i barely fit my legs under the steering wheel (sized for Japanese people) :)
Sure wish i had seen this vid before we bought ours. Thanks Cody!
That is unique, but I do question it "being the only one" that has it.
I ran a John Deere 700 that took that same concept, but went well beyond that simple control. Not only could you dial in the forward speed, you could dial in the reverse speed as well. In other words, you set your forward speed, but then when you increased your reverse speed, it would be 10, 20, 30, 40, 50% higher then what your forward speed was. OR it could be reversed depending on what you were doing.
You still had your forward speed and engine throttle wherever you wanted it, but this allowed you to make a custom travel situation, forward and backwards, for whatever job you were doing. It was really sweet, but granted it was not a compact tractor either. Still a little small for what I need, but a really sweet tractor.
I'd like to have a complete tour and rundown of all the features of your tractor please. I just bought a YT359C like you have, but the manual is doing my head in, and you explain things so I can understand them. Thank you.
We have a Cub/Yanmar dealer just a few blocks away and the 221 scut is a really nice looking unit that would fit my needs. I personally only need a belly mower initially and could add an fel later but my major concern is the dealer network. Our local dealer has health issues and if he shuts down there is only one other Yanmar dealer listed over 50 miles away and that's one way, which is why I have not already driven the 221 home. I also wish Yanmar offered more belly mower sizes, Kubota even offers mowers decks down to 48" which would be the ideal size for some of our narrower gates, etc. There is a Kubota BX dealer 20 miles west and an MF 1705 dealer 20 miles east, both one way also. Decisions decisions.....
Toplink on the ripper is not running directly behind the tractor, Maybe the side arm chains are not loose to allow the ripper to follow the tractor. When the ripper hits a stone it came straight up. If the side arm links were loose it would allow the ripper to move up and side ways of the stone
ock.
Poor me I only have a Massey Furguson 1260 with a Woods 5' loader, no cab but it does have a fiberglass top; my air conditioner. No heat but I have Carhart insulated bibs, gloves and a nice Balacava when it's real cold, I live in Maine. No hydrostatic trans just 16x16. Doesn't have digital anything just analog gauges. There is no place to plug in some kind of analyser I serve that purpose, has never had to "go to town" or have a technician come service it. Again I am the technician. It does have a heated seat but I have to sit on it a few minutes for it to get warm, odd thing is the seat seems to get cold when I get off..hmm. I can set throttle speed at the column with a mechanical lever or just use the pedal, you know like on my f350. It does have a pretty quick detach for equipment; still darn spry. Bought it in 2000 has about 2400 hrs now; replaced the radiator(easy) and keep up with PM you know fluids and filters etc. Oh yeah replaced two hydraulic hoses I snagged. Does have a woods 9 1/2 ft backhoe with 12" bucket and the 24" bucket mounted full time. One cool thing is it is mine has been mine from the beginning no bank and I am not beholden to anybody. You can like it or hate it( I love the thing best tool I ever bought) but it is mine and I never had to blew smoke up anyone's pipe about it. I am pretty sure my Massey is the "finest " tractor so does my wife "she thinks my tractor's sexy" as the song goes. That fact however has added significantly to my Honey do list, my draft mare likes it too................go figure.
Nowadays the maintenance, repair and fault diagnosis are, to me, the Key factors. John Deere has gone the wrong way in Europe, don't know if in the rest of the world. The technical assistance is way too expensive and never on time.
same in the USA my brother hurry up till you wait for a service tech to find the sensor that is bad or breaker that went out
Apparently John Deere wants a monopoly on it's own product? Even with the owner of the John Deere.
I was really surprised when you mentioned that feature to me in your top 5! I had never heard of that before!
Found your channel only recently. Enjoying all your videos so far. Thank you Cody.
That transmission is just an easier to use version of how every tractor is. It’s all about knowing your gears. If you know what gear to use for your job than any tractor will be just as good. Side note. When doing ripping and other non pto work like that you should be in lower throttle. You don’t need full throttle for ripping and keeping the throttle lower prevents premature wear on the tractor
The only a few ways you can do that. CVTs. one way is a belt which is not very durable. the other way is a hybrid system with a planetary gear set. the engine one drives one set of the gear set and 2 electric motors on the other 2 sets. Personal opinion based on past experience is the planetary gear set is the strongest and most reliable.
Allen Crow the prius uses a planetary gear cvt and that's the only type I'd buy. It's not as fun as a manual (or even an automatic) but it gets the job done and I've never overheated it like a lot of the belt cvt's do.
Ya the Ford Fusion and Prius use the same system
Don't forget hydrostatic pump version, both with planetary ranges and without.
This "feature" has been available on hydrostatic tractors since the early 70s. Look up the International Hydro 70 and 186.
I always feel when dealing with Tractors the KISS rule is paramount.
That is just a hydrostatic transmission my ridingmower does the same thing. Love your videos btw.
My 14 year old CaseIH CVX150 has the same motor-/speed-control-dial. Nothing new. But indeed very helpful!
Ok, I think my tractor plays in another league ;)
I can do the same thing with my 1969 MF 165, low box and hand throttle.
Actually every later model mid size tractor has that, some you have to pay extra for or get an specific transmission.
It's gotta be nearly two decades since I last drove a tractor, they sure have come a long ways.
It's a version of the Vario /Cvt / Ivt, depends on the brand, developed by Fendt 40 years ago but not made possible till the early 90's due to hydro pump angle.
This is synchro shuttle which is offered in many other brands
As usual, point well made. I recall you saying you had talked with Yanmar reps at Mother Earth.
I wish you would make a follow-up on this.
What are your thoughts now?
Would you buy it again?
What is good or bad about it, and which one would eventually better?
God bless you and your family.
The ym359 diesel is by far my favorite I want one in a truck
we own a Kubota it's a really good tractor but we use it to lift umber piles with green wood some times being 2000 lbs it doesn't lift at all
Thank You Cody it's a very nice Tractor!👍👍🙏🏡
Fyi (afaik) this is a standard feature on all Valtra tractors. It's also on jcb and volvo skids.
Actually other brands do have the speed and rpms option. For example on a case it is their cvt transmission. It's pretty much the same thing
If you're planning on buying a YT235 Yanmar be sure you have a good butt and back because the tractor seat is the same cheap seat you'd get on a Lowes or Home Depot lawn tractor, not what you'd expect on a tractor in this price range.
too much to go wrong there for me, give me a good ole standard transmission with shuttle shift, they have served me well for years!
Hi, why are those green lights flashing like that? thanks
I have been doing allot of research on buying a tractor. It’s seem for the money yanmar is the best option. Love to see you do a review on your tractor.
I kind of have a love/hate relationship with my old 1952 Ford tractor. It's a little temperamental. At least it's easy to fix........sort of. I've been thinking about a Kubota tractor but just can't take the leap.
yes
nah ill stick to to my MF35 built in 1956
hippy9835 Your MF 35 will still be going years after the yanmar has been scrapped.
hippy9835 a lot less electronics on the oldies!
Could always upgrade to a 135 lol.
lol You may be right on the Yanmar equivalent. We have a 1971 MF135 built in Coventry, has power steering, Perkins diesel.... Had it since it was new. Great little tractor, still gets a lot of use on our farm even all these years later.
I'm still using a 165 and a Dexta.
Great tractors.
More electronics than I want. What do you think breaks first in a wet, cold, vibrating environment?
That's a nice feature,
Certainly not unique to Yanmar. Kubota, Massey and several others have this transmission feature.
genius. thanks for doing my leg work...i really like your tractor and think i will buy this.
Tes there is massey ferguson Tractor have it on the 1735m Tractor's and up
I see this has happened with many: however, I will also say this video has been elusive for me... It just shows up and disappears, though it says it has been up for days... oh well... really like the tractor!
That's called an IVT transmission. It's pretty common for new tractors.
Almost shorted out my keyboard by drooling.
I'm not coveting, though. I don't want YOUR tractor. I just want one just like it.
@wranglerstar
Hello. I know this video is from many years ago but I would like to ask you something about the tractor that I don't understand on mine. I recently bought a Yanmar YT359 Cab just like yours and I don't quite understand how to general rpm and go forward while I'm cutting grass without having to accelerate with the foot accelerator. To go forward or across the river at the selected speed, do you always have to accelerate with the foot accelerator?
Nice tractor but no dealers near me in Maine
Very nice feature!
For me personally - way too many electronics, circuit boards, and computer chips - I recall you saying the same thing when you brought in the new washing machine a while back? Far too many machines have become overly complicated to service - and when you do service them - if out of warranty - bingo bongo - oh that module is gonna set you such and such thousands - yet you know there is nothing, absolutely nothing wrong with the mechanics - a sensor has gone bad, or a chip has unseated - pass - I'll take my old school Kubota and see you on the other side.
Bingo!
Kubota all the way.
Exactly. When the warranty runs out, and the electronics go bad, it's an expensive boat anchor. Another technology trap.
thats why kubotas has 6 year warranty with 3 speed trans mission A and b and c with low, medium and high speeds
I have a farmall cub that I use as my compact tractor and Ive never had any problems with it
And old John Deere 1520 or 1020 diesel is good enough for me simple, easy to fix, and is fun to drive
they all have that feature. they all the same just change layout and paint. some sell engine power over hydronic power or reverse. find one that fits your needs and wallet and call it good.
Actually case ih has the exact same set up on thier new cvt transition tractors
I think this could be done easier on a manual tractor, especially one with a hi/lo transmission. With 1st low, you'd still be going very slow at higher rpms.
What a great feature!
Are yanmar tractor's made in Japan?
Shouldn't run those low rpms especially on an EGR/DEF Tier iv engine.
Hydrostatic transmission isn't good for heavy jobs... Good for front loader.
Nice tractor!! But still love my KUBOTA's!!
That seems really useful
Why the Hard Hat to Plow ?
My tractor 40 years old can do just the same. It is called accelerator pedal and gear. And a little common sense. :)
I just got the notification for this today on 4/17.
Im running a 1965 john deere 2010.
I prefer my TYM 603 tractor. It has the CAT/Perkins turbo engine. My rims are adjustable for row crop production in 5 different widths front and rear Yanmar zero adjustments. My 3 point hitch with square tubes with multiple holes to put the pin in are easier to adjust than the Yanmar system. My 3 point hitch is cat II not Cat I, so 4,270 lbs lift vs Yanmas 3,300lb lift. The Yanmar weighs 4,442 lbs with the tires LOADED, and the TYM weighs 5380 without the 1000lbs in the tires. Yanmar only has a 540 RPM PTO, the TYM has 540/1000. TYM has larger front and rear tires. Now consider the TYM or even LS tractors are about $20,000 less than the same Yanmar, and mine is a 2011 model with more features that you cannot get on the new Yanmar
Some Massey Ferguson tractors have that as an option
Massey/Iseki has something similar.
cool stuff. I thought you had another tractor some years ago????
is that the only tractor you ever been in?
How do you know that no other of the multitude of tractors has that?
No. I have real gears and a real clutch and a real splitter which does the same job and I prefer
What model tractor is this u have and what horse power
Valtra traktors have been doing that almost 10 years.
Very nice tractor
I think u called this compact? Lol. This is a sweet tractor, I'm about to buy a 424 with fel and later add a backhoe. I've noticed a few tractor companies build their compact tractors with or without backhoe, Massey ferguson u either buy a backhoe model upfront or you can never add one later. Yanmar is a little bit ahead of the game in more ways than one, plus the same tractor in green or orange is another $6-9,000 bucks.
Ive got a John Deere 3036e that has a Yanmar motor, JD and Yanmar must have an agreement that Yanmar wont sell into Australia, I would've got one but the JD is OK
Lol, my kubota also has a hand throttle.
How much was it
Is that all she can handle?what horsepower is that
Pretty cool.
I have a ls xg3140 no cab if I ever get a tractor with a cab its gonna be a yanmar
Yanmar, top notch quality, without paying for a name & color of paint.
In your opinion at the 00:11 mark you know you’re going up against Massey Ferguson Kabota John Deere new Holland Mahendra
em that's called a vario transmission john deeres and fendts have them
Crofter390 - Some similar results to larger tractor CVT transmissions such as the John Deere IVT and the Fendt Vario CVT but the Yanmar i-HMT (Integrated Hydro Mechanical Transmission) is a very different way of achieving those results. i-HMT is unique to Yanmar and therefore unique to compact tractors. www.yanmartractor.com/products/details/57612
Nice tractor
Very cool!
That's cool! 👍
whe have ah new holland whit ah 24x24 gear box its just cheaper an simpeler
Must have missed this one.
that is so sweet I cried twice.
Bet parts won't be available for that tractor in 20 years. Planned obsolescence. Throwaway tractors... I think I'll keep my 50 year old ford tractor. I can get parts for it everywhere.
cody the 1% percent of homesteaders
There's a missing reaction. Artcold1 says: they where hacked.
kubota all the way, it is WAY BETTER
john deere do the same thing
i think about all tractors brands have that.
+John Kennedy nope
is that what the dealer told you?
Sweet!
As I know every modern Traktor have somthink like this...
