I would say we have so many amazing entertainers like this today - Jim Howick, John Finnemore, Kerry Godliman, Milton Jones, Katie Wix, Miles Jupp, Margaret Caborn-Smith, Miranda Hart, Stuart Francis, Kathy Burke, Ben Willbond, Daliso Chaponda, Jo Caulfield, Rowan Atkinson, Lolly Adefope, Bob Mortimer, Sue Perkins, Carrie Quinlan, Steve Pemberton, Reese Shearsmith, Martha Howe-Douglas, Matt Lucas, Matt Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Roisin Conaty, Bill Bailey, Greg Davies, Rob Brydon, Sara Pascoe, Michael Sheen, Sophie Duker, Alex Horne, Ellie Taylor, Lee Mack, Tim Vine, Chris Barrie, Peter Kay, Lucy Porter. There are many many more I'm sure, but these are just a few who talk, and banter, and play roles, and do silly routines. Don't get me wrong, I love Monkhouse, Dawson and their era - but I think we have comedians and light entertainers of equal quality and talent writing and performing today. And often corralled and herded by Graham Norton.
TWO OF THE GREATS Playing off each other as straight as you would wish...... Nothing like them today....... I saw Bob in Panto years ago....... Outstanding..... James Hennighan Yorkshire, England
I thought it was really funny about the meal that les mention about the fartridge and dont think bob found it funny. Les is the greatest comedian there is. Bob is a lovely man.
Yes, that really is Jim Carrey sharing a stage with Les Dawson and Bob Monkhouse back in 1986. genome.ch.bbc.co.uk/schedules/service_bbc_two_england/1986-01-27#at-21.30 Who would have thought?
when you mention 'legends' of comedy Laurel and Hardy are first then bob and Les are next, with Morecambe and Wise, the Marx brothers etc. the 1970's comedy was fantastic and will not be beaten.
Me too, but then that's what forty years of ruinous Thatcherite social and fiscal policy gets you. Run down communities, no jobs other than gig economy garbage, no investment in infrastructure, the tearing up of the social contract, public services - including the BBC and the NHS - crumbling. Very sad state of affairs. Oh... You probably meant "woke", didn't you? Yeah, never mind.
How we need entertainment like this today. Thank goodness for RUclips and videotape.

So wonderful to see 2 comedy greats, both sadly missed❤
Yes ditto indeed, two great masters! When comedians were funny, I'm 67 now we didn't know how good we had it in those great years.
Oooh Heavens. I could swear it was Roy Baraclough saying all that. I never knew Bob Monkhouse was such a mimic. Its brilliant

Please take me back to those days. I hate what our country has become.
