Changing Buckets On The Excavator

  • Taking off the 16" bucket and installing the 24" bucket. With the excavator running better wanted to put on the bigger bucket to hopefully speed up the digging and move more material. The battery died while installing the new pin and shims part way through and I didn't realize it until later. Which is for the best! That was a chore! Also big thank you to Rogue Excavating for the awesome shout out! If you like what you see, be sure to comment, like and subscribe! #EliteEarthworks

    Thank you. A "bucket change area" warning sign cropped up in a fb photo and we were trying to work out what "bucket change" means so this is a good demo.

      You’re welcome! My 260 has a hydraulic coupler so it’s even easier lol

    We use a 36” bucket on out TB40 also on our TB60 Ripping out Concrete everyday. We have every size buckets for each machine but the 36” works best you can load more faster. Both of ours is a Quick Coupler thank God because changing Bucket as much as we do would be a Pain in the Butt.

    Just finished watching all your videos from the first one, and subscribed of course. Very good content, most enjoyable and informative. I look forward to seeing more, especially the seasonal impact on your way of working when its not hot and dry!
    Here in England I've noticed a new sign appearing whenever the roads/footpath have been dug up, and the holes are being filled, mainly by the utility companies - "Materials Curing". I reckon its the PR Departments trying to deflect complaints that no one is working. First the city will make you fill road holes with cold fill asphalt (as in the Sewer Riser video), next they'll insist on pointless signs! ;-),

      Andrew Burton thank you for checking out the channel and subbing! That is true on them coming up with the signs lol! Yes the weather can have a huge impact here. Being basically in the middle of the country, we can get the best parts of the season or the worst it seems. This year we went straight from winter to summer! And this past week it has rained 4 out of 5 days. Keeps it exciting I guess. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    The weakness is due to a grease hole through the centre of the shaft then a cross hole to the area that needs to be lubed, when you go through to the middle of the shaft you decrease the strength of the shaft by 50% so there is the problem solid shaft grease ports where needed.

    • @eliteearthworksllc
      @eliteearthworksllc  6 лет назад

      barry hansen yeah I figured that hole didn’t help things strength wise. They have redesigned it on the new machines so obviously enough people complained about it. Thanks for watching

    Which excavator is this one? One thing I’d like to see someone cover in a video is what kind of insurance you need to have to protect you from people or mishaps while working on a job. Oh yeah, my TB 2440 is due in January 2024. I was hoping December. I was originally going for a canopy. But after seeing someone hitting an underground hornets nest and have a limb come around and slap the side window without the cab would have been bad in either situation. But couldn’t the canopy version till Nov. 2024 so I went with with the cab and gained a/c, heat, radio and rain protection with wipers.

      That’s my old 153fr I had before the 260. In most cases $1 million in liability insurance is all you need and work comp if you have employees. I have $5 million in liability, work comp and my vehicles so I can be a contractor for the water company. Congrats on the new machine! I would definitely recommend the cab vs the open canopy. You are a little more protected plus you can work in the heat or cold or even rain that way.

    Do oversize buckets not cause booms to crack? It might be a blessing your pin broke first.

    I want to say on a recent video Chris (letsdig18) mentioned that the bucket on his new EC250 is in the 48" range or something along those lines. Dunno if it'd help you much, but one local contractor down where I'm at welded himself a little bracket that sits in the V of the trailer up front that he keeps what looks like an 18 inch and a 12 inch bucket in.

    • @eliteearthworksllc
      @eliteearthworksllc  6 лет назад

      Sandy I think I remember watching the video. That’s a good idea to place a where you can keep additional buckets. I’m hoping to keep the big on for awhile! Thanks for watching

    You gotta get a QC on that thing bro. I run a 12 inch 24 inch and 36 inch on my Kubota constantly changing them quick changes only way to go

      I was just thinking the same, I’m in same boat as him. Saw a manual quick connect on Dirt perfects 304. He says it’s from USA attachments. I’m going to have our welding school build me one as a project. I run a 12,16,36 and add a grading blade to the 16. I can’t wait because I always hate changing buckets!

    I have broken a few of those main pins. They generally break at the grease hole. $400 good lord my KX 121 pins i think are about $180

    Oh My good ness when will some one put on a video on how to change these buckets WITHOUT Quik-Hitch. There is a good video of a guy in England but he needs to wear gloves! (I must get my own video done)

    • @eliteearthworksllc
      @eliteearthworksllc  4 года назад +1

      Did you watch the video? That’s not a quick attach I had to take the pins out of the stick to change the bucket . My new excavator has a hydraulic coupler but not this one

    • @itsbobforfun62
      @itsbobforfun62 4 года назад +1

      @@eliteearthworksllc That is my point! You have wasted your money buying a Quick coupler when if you knew how to do it properly, you wouldn't need a Quik-Hitch.

    • @eliteearthworksllc
      @eliteearthworksllc  4 года назад +1

      Bob Laird when you have 6 buckets you bring with you on jobs the quick coupler is a must. It’s about being efficient way spend 20 mins when you can spend 2 mins
