I have a gas model like this, they all run hot. I added 2 12v 7" fans (1 intake 1 exhaust) to mine and relocated the exhaust. Huge improvement to airflow and cooling on the cheap. Helps keep the hydraulics cooler too. you've convinced me on getting the rake. 👍👍 great video.

@@jakebell1947 I think Maint. is the key here. It's not an ind. machine, it's for the home owner. If you use it within it's capabilities it should last and if and when the air cooled engine dies go to Harbor Freight and get another for a few Hundo dollars and keep going. Recently I had to replace the elect. motor i bought from Harbor Freight on my 5hp compressor, Damn thing only lasted 22 years of daily use. 😄
Get some quick couplers for hooking that tilt bucket, and for any other hydraulic driven hammers or buckets. The constant rethreading on hoses takes a toll on thread integrity, as well as the O-rings if any. It's $$ well spent.
Don't some of the quick connects reduce flow rates? So if you are connecting something that runs a motor, like an auger, it may not run as well. I've seen other posts about quick connects making some tools not run as well. I'm not sure, so just trying to learn more, as I'm getting close to buying myself one of these mini-ex's.
Jake, first time watcher. You live in a beautiful area. We lived in Columbia Falls for a few years in the mid 1990's. Job took us away, but it's memories! Keep up the good work.
On the quick attachment. Don't over tighten will strip out. And if using on the concrete breaker if you put to much pressure will breaker it. Parts hard to find to fit. That being sed. Makes it nice and quick to change out. I been using 7/8 bolts to all buckets
I have a John Deere 120 and have a rock rake on it and use it more than the regular bucket or cleanup bucket. It can pull out rocks, pull out trees, stumps and anything from the ground. Love your video.
Never grease the coupler pins. Grease attracts sand , sand does grind iron and it’s the best way to have them loose quickly. But you can use Teflon or lubricant powders.
You might want to look into some quick disconnect couplers, in stead of having to remove the hoses with a wrench, I'm not sure if the exhaust of the motor might need to be rerouted to face out from the back, that might help with it not getting too hot, but I'm not sure
Yes Sir, you already mentioned having an exhaust fan to help keep engine and compartment cool. I've seen some operators putting two fans in to cool.👍 Praying for your safety, health, strength and success in Jesus's mighty name. ☝🙏🙌💪
just got one and the right joy stick is super touchy. reaching out with the arm almost wants to tip the machine its so forceful. any ideas to fix that?
Wealthy people ragging on products poor homesteaders can barely afford, is tasteless. Go buy a $40K mini excavator if you want something to complain about.
Is the greasing necessary at 7:33, the pins are fixed! Anyway, thanks for sharing, I was interesred in using the coupler, and I profited from the content.
What’s everybody think, grease the pins that just sit in the coupler even though they don’t rotate? Probably silly since the pins will probably outlast the bucket 😊 even without grease
If you had left it idling instead of putting the leaf blower in there, would not have cooled itself. What does the manual say for temperatures. Or does it say anything about that. It should be designed to cool its self and maintain proper temperatures from the factory. If nothing is plugged up, you would think. Just my thoughts.
Is there engine cooler? Hydraulic oil cooler? On this model? Kubota engine or yamar? Is it 3 cylinders? Thx im trying to get as much info. I need one for my homestead, plus side work.
On Rippa R320 Engine cooler, hydraulic cooler, Kubota 3 cylinder with engine driven fan. Body vent panels don’t line up with cooling system very well, gonna need some modifications to help it run cooler but guts look good! will post a more detailed video, probably beginning of July
@Jake Bell thank you very much , Jake. Very much appreciated. I bought a stealth bomber, saved over half to 2/3 less money. But they delivered right to door. So I don't want to 4-7k, and have to come up with another 2k. I have truck and trailer and boston seaport is 5 miles away. So was hoping to cut down on cost. And have no clue how to get a agent.
I'm impressed, Jake. It's also obvious you know how to operate an excavator. It's not going to compete with a KX057-4 that I operate, but for what it is... it doesn't look bad. Question: are the 'pedals' also crawler controls, or just foot rests? I subscribed to your channel... let's see what'ya got.........
No foot drive on either machine. It’s fun (Maybe sad) but when I first got the Rippa machine I was frustrated I could find the blade are thumb controls. Turns out what looks just like drive peddles are not attached to the drive sticks but the blade of thumb control by foot.
New sub! Can you please do a video on what you ordered for the thumb to get it going! Like what hydraulic cylinder you ordered and what hoses :). Edit. Wait is this the diesel digger? This doesn't look like the gasser.
Nice little excavator. I bet the running costs are as cheap as the excavator was itself. The thing is with Chinese products is that the build quality is usually not very good. Cheap materials that wear out fast, this keeps the cost of the item down though. So pro-rata, good or bad? Your choice! PS: Please dont call any items a "Bad-Boy" or a "Puppy"
How is this machine doing as of today. I been looking into some used Name Brand machines but they are expensive and high hours. I've seen these listed within 150 miles from me and not sure on there durability.
Mine was also low on hydraulic fluid at delivery. It also was low on Coolant. Have you had any problems with the oil pressure sensor? Mine just went off as I was parking it in the shop but haven’t had a chance to look it the problem yet….
oil coolers are cheap. as are sheets of aluminium bent and cut here and there with grommets on mounts... main issue is they design to get them together... rather than where the heat goes. assume engine will have pressure fed oil that can be tapped in some way. the hydraulics get hot. exhaust. more heat you can dump outside the cowling rather than inside, the better. use the venturi /air accelerator idea, a decent cowl and the exhaust gas will suck the cooling air through without a fan... silly. :)
Are you just a real good operator,or have you tweaked the hydraulics on the excavator? The reason I ask is I have a Chinese 1 ton mini digger, and the controls are really jerky if you are not familiar with them.
I understand where he's coming from but with my father's Ford 400 Industrial we leveled trees and acres in 😊an hour or so... so if you want something and make a Towpath I guess that machine is good or someone say great
I did my major clearing work with a 135 Hitachi, the baby excavator is more for low impact work now that the bulk of my excavation and clearing is done.
Thanks for demonstrating the digger, but man, why does almost everyone think their choice of music is entertaining or appreciated in an instructional video??? Lose the annoying music and just inform on the item in question!!! 🙄🙄🙄
I think part of the problem is it was designed for a different (Chinese) engine and then they just stuff a Kubota in for US export but don’t modify the panels so the vent line up with the radiators. For the price, I kinda expect I will have to do modifications and repairs out the gate.

Agree, good idea
Quick couplers have o rings inside too, and they will leak sooner or later!

Never grease the coupler pins. Grease attracts sand , sand does grind iron and it’s the best way to have them loose quickly.
