I just want you guys to know I'm sitting in Iraq listening to this. This song has always evoked a strong meaning for me as a soldier and you have done it and its deceased original composer great justice. It makes me wish I could play the trumpet so I could stand with you folks and participate in the awesome piece of music. Thank you for this respectful rendition of a song played with reverence by military bands and not making it a 'show off blastfest song' like the Blue Devils. -SGT Mac
every time i listen to this i am awed. this is a beautiful piece, beautifully arranged. This is my inspiration to play trumpet. I wanted to quit band and a friend told me to watch this, and now I don't wanna quit, because I want to amount to performers like these people.
hey i am 14 and would really like this music, this one of the most beautiful peices of music i have ever heard, my band director Chris Wilkes went to JMU as 1st trumpet and has encouraged me to find this music and eventually work towards going to JMU
Way to go guys, I play the trumpet myself and have yet to hear a more coordinated and superb set of trumpet players, they make me realize what it actually takes to be great, I can only pray that one day I will be blessed enough to join there ranks. You guys are absolutely amazing...you bring about a certain grace to the sound of the trumpet that is imitatable by no one else. Keep up the amazing work and if it isn't too much trouble can I get the sheet music to this song. I really like it.
He isn't teaching this semester. I'm a student in the JMU Trumpet Studio. He may be back in the fall when more freshman come in. I was a section leader for the MRD's last year it was a lot of fun, great guys and girls.
SGT Mac, we wish you all the best and thank you for your service! You are welcome anytime to stand in the center, as the tradition started the day this video was recorded. Or better yet...get yourself a trumpet and join in!! :) Thanks for the kind words. -Alex Bender
I absolutely adore this selection and am trying to find it for my section (Battlefield High) do you know what arrangement it is? You guys did a great job and I enjoyed your whole kickass season great job dukes!
Yes, and very very untypically in 3/4, I wonder that it works sooo good so far. Nice done, folks. I´m looking for several years for a good video from a Marching Band or a Drum & Bugle Corps from: ADADIO FOR STRINGS Has anybody an idea?
mrdtrumpets2006, this was a great trumpet ensemble! With due respect, who the heck was that guy in 0:49 who just went into the middle of the circle of trumpets like he owned the university? Very Distracting, Man. Very Distracting
hey this is really good! a few things first can you send me the music for the parts? second i think you'll enjoy this, search "blue devils band of brothers" these guys are amazing!
high G? no. only a high C. the guy in the middle who is directing arranged it. and sent me a copy. Only goes up to a written high C, but you can add higher notes

As a Marching Royal Duke, I have to say that this made me just so damn proud when I saw it. Man, I love this band.

Does anyone have the sheet music for trumpet ensemble? Please let me me know!
What ever happened to Chris McGee? JMU's "The Trumpet Messiah" from the early '80s.
where can i find sheet music?
michael kamen or this arrangement?
So do MRD trumpets all have to use the same mouthpiece like DCI?
