    Sawatdi khrap, Jack. Thank you for clarifying the difference between "bpen" and "kher". I gather that if the two phrases can be swopped, "kher" can be used, for example, "ni kher rohd khong phohm" or "This is my car". I can also say "rohd ni kher khong pom" or "This car is mine", in which 'car' and 'my' are switched. However, "my mum is a teacher" cannot be switched to "the teacher is my mum" which generally isn't true, and so we use "bpen", as in "mae khong phohm bpen khru". Khop khun mak khrap!

    • @IgetThais

      To say keu keu many times to indicate that the speaker is thinking or trying to find the right words to say. It is similar to "um" or "uh". and this is the link about "and" (gab/lae) ruclips.net/video/zvBAohEfJ0g/видео.html

    Hello Jack, this lesson was really good
    I have a question please in football ⚽️ in English use the word goalkeeper ( spoken language goalie ) is those 2 terms, used in Thai language do they use the English word goalkeeper / goalie or is there a Thai translation…?

    • @IgetThais
      @IgetThais  Год назад +4

      There are 3 terms used to refer to a goalkeeper⚽. The first is "goal" (โกล), which is a shortened form of "goalkeeper"🥅. The second is "prà-dtoo" (ประตู)🚪, which means "door". For example, "pŏm bpen goal" (ผมเป็นโกล) or "pŏm bpen prà-dtoo" (ผมเป็นประตู) both mean "I am a goalkeeper". The third term is more formal and is often used by football commentators. It is "pôo rák săa prà-dtoo" (ผู้รักษาประตู), which means "a person who saves the door".

    Is "Sod - single " pronounced the same as fresh as in fresh fish? Thanks

    • @IgetThais
      @IgetThais  Год назад +1

      The words โสด (I should romanize it as sòed) and สด (sòd) have the same low tone, but they are pronounced differently because they have different vowel sounds, which affect their pronunciation. โสด, meaning "single," has a long vowel sound represented by the vowel โอ (oe), while สด, meaning "fresh," has a short vowel sound represented by the vowel โอะ (o). This is why โสด is pronounced with a longer sound than สด, despite having the same tone. This is the main difference between the two words. I hope this can help you.

    When I saw a man talking to my friend in the hospital, and I asked her after he left " Who is he?" She replied that he is a doctor , in Thai : Can she reply as :kao bpen mor or Kao keu mor ? Thank you

    • @IgetThais
      @IgetThais  Год назад +2

      She can reply with either kao bpen mor(เขาเป็นหมอ) or kao keu more(เขาคือหมอ), as both are appropriate ways to say that he is a doctor in Thai. However, using kao bpen mor(เขาเป็นหมอ) is more commonly used as it refers to his occupation as a doctor and uses the verb 'เป็น' (to be).
