Once upon a time, I had a voracious appetite for carbs and sugars. A couple of years ago, a random blood glucose test revealed that I was prediabetic. That was the wake up call. Thankfully, I've been on a low carb diet ever since and have lost 75kg and an astounding 28cm off my waist circumference. Never felt better.

Now that's amazing :) I bet your blood sugars are OK as well. To think diets and medical advice in the UK still insist that consuming saturated fats are the problem, not carbs and sugars. How many real world examples need to walk through the door before they accept it :)

@@AdeptEnglish Yes, my blood sugar levels are within the normal range. I also do intermittent fasting, with an eating window between 12 noon and 8pm. I agree, the common dietary advice on lowering blood sugar levels is horrendous, just cut out the sweet stuff, but keep eating all starches. Constant snacking (or grazing as I like to call it) is also very bad.

I'm afraid you've got it wrong this time. The scientific consensus is that it is not the sugar spikes that cause diabetes but obesity. And of course there is an indirect, scientifically proved link between eating sugary foods and diabetes but it only goes through being obese. Correlation is not causation. So please don't give up your beloved chocolate 🙂
