Rose Byrne and Chris O’Dowd Teach Australian and Irish Slang | Vanity Fair Развлечения
People go on about Chris Pine, Chris Pratt, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth. I tell you O'Dowd is the pinnacle of Chrises.
AisuruMirai agreed!
Also an MCU Chris
AisuruMirai Yes! With Chris Rock
Aye, but his big Marvel appearance was in Thor 2: The Worst MCU movie
Amen
Chris O’Dowd is underrated
have you tried turning him off and on again.....?
He's part of the League of Chrises
Him and Richard Ayoade. I miss that show.
He's rated in the UK
Rose Byrne is underrated
"I'll have a pint of heroin please" settle down there, Rose.
That’s a ton of heroin
What is black stuff?
"Oh, is it like a bad time?"
"No, but it can lead to that"
"Heroin!"
She seemed SO confident with that answer too
We do also like heroin in ireland though
I thought she guessed heroin cuz of black tar heroin. But yeah, unless going through withdrawals, not quite a good 2nd guess. Haha.
Migrants?
I thought the exact same. Needa stop doing drugs
The infinite darkness inside Rose Byrne's head just makes her delightfulness more delightful.
Australians are very dark its all grit and sunflowers
Professor X did that to her brain
she's so... impossibly lovely.
Meh. She looked better in "Troy", though......
wilb6657 always the bums with no profile picture who have something to say about a woman’s appearance lmfao
wilb6657 don’t comment on someone’s looks who is better looking than you or you’ll look like an idiot
1000% true she's so lovely!!!😊❤❤❤🙌🏻🙌🏻
These are two of the most beautiful voices in Hollywood and they're just talking nonsense. I love it.
Rose: Drinking alcohol? Driving fast? Getting high?
Chris: No but you’ve well mapped out your usual weekend.
yeah i lost it at that part lmao
That little hint of frustration that escapes Chris O'Dowd while giving clues for 'rugger bugger' is fantastic.
for once, the irish slang is actually slang we use
Faye O Reilly banjaxed is the only fuckin one I use
Faye O Reilly Not really
@@thearbiter8890 ye, these aren't that great. I live in Dublin and have only heard of one of them
Never heard of “rugger bugger”
Must only be in dublin cause I haven’t heard half of these..
God, Rose is so adorable. Her laugh is so charming. And They’ve got great chemistry together.
I feel like Chris is very smart
I 1000% agree they're so good together!!!🙌🏻🙌🏻
It's a testament to how well trained Rose Byrne is because this is the first time I'm hearing her with an Australian accent.
She is really really well trained, and such an incredible actress; Rose is drop dead gorgeous.
She was so good in Physical I didn't think the show would be good but she was great
I still miss the IT Crowd. What a perfect show.
As an Irishman who lived in Australia for 6 years I really enjoyed this video and understood them all. I would love to see a video of Chris and former co-star Jess Mauboy doing one with Irish and Aboriginal-Australian slang terms, there is actually some crossover between the two.
theres nothing similar between aboriginals and irish slang
Actually a lot of the reason Australians talk the way we do is the amalgamation of Irish, Scottish and Aboriginal pronunciation.
Yeah, dat one be good der, bloke!
i love both of them this is perfection
"Ohhhhh heroin" HAHAHAHA
"Oh, heroin!" Lol that was so random.
I like how in Australia it's the dog's breakfast but in the UK it's the dog's dinner.
It’s dog breakfast in England as well and notice aussie slang was basically what cockney people would say
Tbf they’re in a different time zone
@@flacoflaco1199 that's what I noticed too
Chris O'Dowd is on 3/5 of my favorite tv shows, i greatly appreciate him
I love Rose Bryne. We need to see more of both Chris and Rose
Irish plus Scots plus Aussies plus Kiwis. Need to form our own global superpower.
Agreed.
Nah us Irish are happy to ourselves. The scots need to sort out exiting the United kingdom first them we’ll consider. But at the moment it look like the majority is british unionists so...
A rugby superpower

Brian Sexton where do ye say sucking diesel or dirtbird
it's amazing, isn't it?! it's as if they did research beforehand.
So am I and I've only heard of like three of them.. :/
Brian Sexton I think it’s different in every province or county
She looks like the sweetest person💓
She really really does!!!
Well Chris did spend time in Australia filming The Sapphires in 2012.
its helen & officer rhodes!!
Yess!!
Love hearing all those slangs,I want to use them here in the states now😄
I love Rose Byrne. I just adore her. She's a wonderful, beautiful, lovely, adorable woman.
Not a full shilling
They have so much chemistry
LOL! Loved the ' head like a dropped pie' one....will have to incorporate that into my repertoire
Hey Vanity Fair. I can't get enough of these slang videos. Incredibly good! Ever thought of asking former and current members of various military branches to teach their slang? You may be surprised on how different nations use "hump" and "hooch".
IT CROWD!!!!!!!!! Yeah!
richard ayoade 🖤
Her voice was sooo soothing in I Am Mother ! ❤️
Her voice is so soothing to me in general
rose byrne... 💗❤💗
Rose is SO adorable!! Chris cracks me up.
They have such sweet chemistry
I love her
Goon is the most legit Aussie slang I've seen in these kinds of videos
"I don't even feel that's an Irish one just good clothing manners." 😆
HAHAHAH 1:11 omg laughed so hard rose has a great practical mind
Lotta fun !
She has the most adorable and charming laugh
She does!! ❤
He's got the best giggle.
No Aussie slang video ever has the slang word “root” it’s my favourite word
I love her.
My British grandmother used to say "carry on like a 2 bob watch" ..still cracks me up
Famous relative check
I’m Irish and can vouch that I say all of these on the daily 😂 finally words that we actually say and not a load of ‘top of the morning to you’ ones
Banjaxed is a fab word! I'm adopting it 😄
@0:50 Now I know the Irish don't get a lot of sun, but THE SHADE!!!! The savage SHADE! 🤣😂
@1:26 she slagged him back a bit. 😆
I'm watching IT crowd !! The best sitcom ever👍
Maybe not The Best but definitely one of the best ever made
I'm surprised have a squiz wasn't on there
two of my favorite human beings in the world.
take me, vanity fair, I'm yours.
Rose Byrne is an absolute stunner!
She’s so fantastic 🥰
She really is!!
Oooh HEROIN!!! She was so happy when she said it😂😂😂😂
Rose Byrne ❤
I was born in Ireland but moved to Australia when I was 3
Why do I have a thing for Chris O'Dowd?
Everyone does. He's gorgeous.
Because he loves puffins and sounds great talking about them.
I do too. Maybe cuz hes adorable and youd like to cuddle-wuddle with him?
Coz he's amazing
The accent, the smile, everything
CHRIS!!!!!
I can see them as two long term friends.
Azcension Seven such a cute comment
No way!! They want each other. Totally. But Rose doesn't want to admit it.
Me too
@@SuperAvonova She's currently with Bobby Cannavale
They cut out Yoke, it has a few meanings in Ireland. either as another word for "thing" to refer to some object you forgot the name of.
It also refers to an ecstasy pill though.
Didn‘t know Chris O‘Dowd was such a charmer. Dude‘s killing it...
Crash Banjaxed is my favourite video game character
When I seen suckin diesel
Me (btw I'm irish) : suckin diesel cutting chucking
If ur irish u know the song it hit the diff
Lol 😆 🤣 😂 😹
@@randomvidios09 lol
I never realise how much slang we Irish, and particularly Dubliners, have until we share it with other nationalities. :D
Yeah right fam
Dublin er fam
Up the flats
Bandjaxed is my new favorite word!
They’re both adorable.
"Hello Helen, I've heard *wonderful* things."
Why does Rose go to the most explicit place just immediately.
Because she was thinking outside of the box
"Oh, heroine!"
Alejandro Mujica just thought I’d let you know that heroin and heroine are not the same thing
"OhHhhHhHh Heroine!"
Just like an Australian- staying humble!
Some of this is mainly Dublin Slang but still good to see its slang actually used lol
NOW WE'RE SCHUCKIN DIESEL LADS
rose byrne is the cutest
Everything I see of Chris O’Dowd makes me crush on him harder 😩
I wish this was a regular, 30 minute, weekly show.
Chris O'Dowd: Simple Simon Swafford in Radio Pirate!
I'm finding it HILARIOUS that Ms. Byrne seemed to throw Mr. Dowd off his game with some of her responses lol.
‘south dublin oh my god he’s such a rugger bugger’ help
Rugger Bugger is more of an Engiish thing but if I understand the social geography of Dublin correctly I think I understand the shade being thrown there.
Rose is the best 😂😂😂
No negative comments and no dislikes. Rightfully so and hope the party keeps on keepin’ on.
Rose Byrne feels like a younger Gillian Anderson
Hot under the collar is a common American phrase.
I only knew a few of the Australian slang.. they don’t say them much on my side of town
I don’t know if you read comments or not, but love the series, I’ve committed to learning all this slang. This video in particular is not in the playlist with all the others on your channel, which worries me that the playlist is unreliable. Hope you can fix it. Thanks!
Oh at around 2:00, Aussies will say we have the 'shits' if someone is making us angry or pissed off which is often misinterpreted to say the least :P
Should have asked him what a "damp squib" was. Haha!
How could Chris not have words like shift, slapper, and yoke?
Chris O'Dowd is a great actor and a really funny guy when the directing is good. The only show his true acting skills showed was on my all time fave comedy series IT Crowd. I've watched that show so many times and I laugh the same amount everytime. He really needs to do more shows like that. The hollywood stuff doesnt do his acting justice.
Rose Byrne is a super Irish sounding name
Rose is half Irish and Scottish, but she was born and raised in Australia
A fire! At seaparks!
I love being Irish🇮🇪✌🏻
an English accent in Annie, American one in Instant Family and now an Australian one... 😂 love you Rose
Tilly Elizabeth Well, she’s Australian
I'm Aussie, been here my whole life and i've never heard any of this slang. At all lol
You need to get out more than mate ;) lol
Gone walkabouts doesn’t mean to go for a walk, it means “he’s disappeared or you can’t find him” “ johns gone walkabouts again”
yeah he said awol
“They’re quite simple people”
Man, we use so few of these. What about shifting, beour, gee, gowl, langer, culchie, yokes, etc?
This is my first time hearing her Australian accent
Banjaxed! Proper Irish slang 👍🏻
