Thank you for sharing! It's always so interesting getting a glimpse of someone's life. From important life documents like birth certificates or divorce papers to the things they treasured, like the rings and the chenille bedspread. My grandma raised me, and as a kid I loved looking through her hope chest (which her father had made for her). She'd sit with me and tell me about the pieces; who they had previously belonged to, what family member had made them, or for what occasion. She even stored my baby blankets and the more sentimental pieces of my baby clothes in her chest for me, along with things she made for me that she intended to give to me when I moved out into my own place.
I love that hope chests are little time capsules of a person's life. I'm having my wife make one for us to fill with little things and treasures from our life, to eventually pass onto either our future children (if we have any) or our nieces or nephews.

I had a Lane hope chest, but i never had any children so i passed it down to one of my nieces!!!

Those life insurance policies MAY still pay out!!! Check with the policy companies AND look at the state where your aunt lived, at their lost/found money website as these policies often show up there and your having the policy will help you claim. Good Luck! (we were able to claim a few in our family as those policies showed up!!!)

Thank you so much for sharing your family with us. Both sides of my family saved so much. It is nice to share the memories. Often at estate sales I come across boxes filled with pictures, letters and newspaper clippings. I do buy them and do research to see if I can find family members who would like the artifacts. I've been successful a couple of times, but also found a family member who doesn't want anything to do with old memories.
