Day One is excellent - thank you for alerting me to its existence. I write a Stand Up entry each morning that allows me to focus on the key tasks I’d like to / need to accomplish. I then write a Journal entry at the end of the day with prompts I’ve devised. One of these is How do I feel today? This enables me to reflect on what’s gone well and what didn’t turnout quite as I expected. Also love how easy it is to add camera shots and pictures in my photo library. Another journal I use is for Dreams. By that, I mean I typically add a voice recording to describe what I can recall of any dreams I had last night. I find it instructive to identify themes in my dreams that may point to concerns I should address or remind me of missed opportunities in life I’d like to rectify.
Do you use the journal as a kind of central hub for your daily work? I could imagine using it as a guide for my day, so "collecting" tasks from the task manager or projects when I check in the morning. Capturing ideas, adding notes and things like that.
Ooh, no. It's just a place for me to empty my head in the morning of thoughts, ideas and issues I may have collected overnight. If an idea is worth exploring, I will copy and paste that paragraph into my notes and develop it from there.
Hey Carl, for the "what do I want out of today" section, is there any cross over here with the 2+8 in the time sector system or is this a more general thing?
I like to see my string of streaks for things like exercise and meditation (similar to Jerry Sinefeld's 'don't break the chain' method) does Day One or other app allow you to see your progress overview over a month or more?
You have a number of different views. One of my favourites is the calendar view because it shows on the calendar when I did my exercise and when I didn't (like the Seinfeld calendar)
Ooh, that depends on the project. Each project will be different. A marketing campaign would be very different from a home improvement project. I'll see if I can come up with a tutorial for it.
I'm curious to know what you or others gain by journaling. I did keep a similar journal off and on for a year and I found it eventually become redundant a chore, etc. I didn't find a need to go back and look at previous entries..maybe if anything it told me I needed to get out of my rut...!
Hi Will, it centres my day and gets me focused on what's important. I also use it to track my exercise and for thoughts on where I am with my goals and where I want to be.
Yes - Carl starts the video by saying you can use a number of tools out there. I use both Evernote and Day One, but for different reasons. Day One is written specifically with journaling in mind and offers end to end encryption. To me, Evernote is more of a kitchen drawer - where you can throw all kinds of things in there. Evernote could certainly be used as a journal. Day One is more of a 'delight' to use, especially for journaling.

That's a great way to use a journal.
I was just setting up a personal journal today and its like you read my mind. Thank you for your great and helpful work. Much much appreciated.
You're very welcome, Rahul.

You're very welcome, Adrian.

Carl, could you show how to improve projects? For example a move or a trip ...
I mean how you create it and what elements it consists of 😌

I really like your videos , so insightful
Thank you.
@@Carl_Pullein hey Carl, I have sent email to you
Thank you so very much Carl.. I urge everyone to join the courses of Carl..He made concepts easy to understand and grasp
Really Good Idea!
Very happy to hear you like it. 🙂
If you were starting today would you use Day One or Apple Notes?
Definitely Day One for my journal and Apple Notes for my notes.
Thanks Carl how do you get the template for a new day
In Day One's setting there's a tab for templates. You can create your own from there.
Is Day One an app?
It is, yes.
Day one has changed my life, I use it daily
It does that :-)
Carl, couldn't you just use evernote for your journalling? Day one looks very similar in format..

I want my journal to be something kept well away from my work tools. It's a special place.
I tried the free version of Day One for a while. Althoug useful and user friendly, I still think the post poverful way is hand writing!
