It's a rarity to find information that is so relevant to my issue, explained by someone so extremely knowledgable like this instructional. Thank you for sharing your knowledge Robot! Now I just need to find a video explaining how to keep from buying things that need work!
Thanks for this video, Robot. 👍 I knew about the "remove ignition switch wire from CDI" trick so had bodged that for a while. After your troubleshooting tips I found a short in the wiring in the headset and now all sorted! 👌👌👌
What's funny is I don't own a Vespa right now but I was raised on a 1973 olive green Vespa 150 super, plenty of family photos of me riding I'm 60 now I was thirteen when they bought our first scooter
Glad you guys continue to make videos with vintage bikes. So much content on RUclips with vintage scooters but they aren’t in English. Anyone know any channels or forums online where I can find more info on working on my vintage small frame?
David Collins 64 Vespa 50 V5A1T with a V9A1M in it when I bought it. I’m slowly trying to restore. Scooters and 2 strokes are a whole different monster for me. I get the basics but a lot of different terminology with parts and products are all new to me compared to cars
"Slowly," is the keyword I think. Restoring a Vintage is costly on parts. There is a thread on Modern Vespa, forum. Since it is a 50 49ccscoot might be an option. We'd love to hear ur story. Scooter West, and Robot r great people. Get a chance to know them. Wow! what a coot?
Buenas, pickup de encendido nuevo BGM hp arroja 94ohms la moto funciona correcta, es muy bajo ese valor? Saludos

Thank you for your videos. I already have problem with ignition. I changed sparkplug, wire, CDI, ohms are accordning to your video, stator give enough volts, green wire to ignition are ok...but stil nothing :-(
Great video Robot, certainly food for thought. I am trying to figure a problem out with my 1987 T5 Mk1, when I rev it out and change gear, on occasion I get a backfire, not all the time but happens at least once every time I'm out on it. I have a 152 Polini kit, SIP 2 exhaust, SIP filter if that makes any difference.
Very helpful video. Thank you. I have a problem with my p200e. Had no spark so checked as you said. Tried with the multymeter the wires. I get 480 from the white/green but nothing from the red one. I thought it was the picup. Changed it but still nothing. What comes next?
Ah, yes, old crumbling ignition related wiring and a non-injected 2 smokes. The perfect shit storm. 💩👌🏻🤣 All hail EFI and modern materials. BTW, love these kinda vids, even tho I don't have a Vespa but I find it very entertaining and educational. Keep up the good work, Mr. Robot !👍🏻
Ireland question, at 7.50pm Saturday evening, What cud be wrong iv no curtains coming to the spar blug on my 1982 100cc vesba, what cud be the problem? Thank u.
Hi, Love the video's, so informative. I followed this one to the letter as I have a Motovespa TX200 which is just refusing to start, I have good compression 120psi - I have checked the white/green 510 and white/red 110 so the stator is good, I have fuel as I can see/smell it. I just have a weak spark, tried different plugs, still weak. the coil is new. So the last thing is the flywheel magnets - do you think that is the last thing to replace?
Could very well be, and definitely worth a try. We offer a service to re-magnetize flywheels if you don't want to purchase a new one. www.scooterwest.com/flywheel-re-magnetizing-labor-remag.html
I have TX200 I am having problem with my idicators after checking everything I have found wires from the indicator relay going to ignition unit at the back of the engine are damaged I am living in hope when I replace them I'll have my turn signals back
Afternoon sir. I recently purchased a 1964 Vespa Allstate and the kill switch isn’t working properly. I replaced it and still have The same issue. The switch won’t shut off the engine. Only way the switch works is if I’m contacting the back of the contacts against the handlebar . Is there anything I can check ? Thanks
Hey Mate this is a very nice video, thanks for that! I have a P150X from 1984 and the engine is dying high speed, usually when I`m in 4th speed. could you give some hints?
Hi. Great video. Good job Robot! Question: I have 1980 pe200x. My CDI is black and has one connection for the spark plug and one for the Green wire. No other plugs. Is that ok? How can I replace that with the blue CDI in this video? My stater wires go directly into the junction box. Any help would be appreciated.
Hey robot. I have a 2008 stella 2t and i hasn’t been started since 2016. I have no spark. I installed a new coil, oem cdi, spark plug. Tested all the wires with multimeter and everything looks fine. Wats my next step cause I’m at a roadblock
Currently working on a Piaggio with the issue of holding spark plug against ground it shows weak spark.....Removing the spark plug and cap, then holding cable against ground I have superb spark...... So replaced Spark plug and tried again, but weak spark remains??? Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks
excellent video, this comes realy handy for us vespa noobs, thank you! do you have some similiar video on vintage 6v models, like sprints etc (specially about coil ohm and voltage figures and so on)?
Quick question for you robot, is that back light on that scoot a replacement fitted by the owner or is it a North American issue? It looks like a light from a older model and not the og one.
Hi robot i need some advice on my 2004 Vespa LML 2t polini 177. the pick up on the stator plate is fine but the lighting coils keep burning out or something like that the scooter is currently on it's 3rd stator plate. its a non battery scooter. i would appreicate any feedback you could give cheers.
Hello there! I am sending this message from Greece. I see that you are a vespa expert. I own a Piaggio X9 500 SL, 2002 model. I turned to every Piaggio dealer I know but no one could fix my problem, so I am asking for your opinion, please. The problem I have is that when I turn the key on the digital instruments I have on my steering wheel will not check at start up except the warning bulbs on the upper raw, (high and low beam, reserve, rear brake, alarm, injection, etc.) Do you know what to do? HELP PLEASE!!! Thank you in advance
Hi Can you do a step by step video on how to change a Stator /Charger on a Piaggio mp3. There is nothing out there. Great video on electric problems i.e. volt levels and continuities on connector/battery
I have p150x. Since I got it. Eats plugs at idle. If the points and condenser slightly off it will eat plug 2kms if it's setup perfect. Eat plug after 200 to 500km. Depends how long it idles. The problem not enough spark at idle... if I lean it out where it shouldn't be it will still eat plugs. Not fuel related. Coil? Stator? Flywheel? My plug usually killed by carbon. I have px and veloce. Don't have this problem. Eish
Hi Robot I watch one your video about spark plug & wires I took out champion rg4php to check out & wear down for Piaggio mp3 was 13 years old & miles 003708! I order new spark plug & Prime plug wire!
Actually mine is a question when ever the engine is running and that sideboard is mounted, automatically the engine stops normally the side where the engine is hanging.
I wonder if you could clarify something for me. The only purpose of the green wire that runs from the CDI to the kill switch and key switch is to allow you to kill the engine. With the green wire disconnected at the CDI, the scooter will run, but you have no easy way to turn it off. Is that correct?
I have a 1984 Yamaha scooter 125Z my flywheel old doesn't have any magnetic you said that I can send it to you to get it magnetic do you have an address and how much would it cost
WITH SO MANY GREAT VIDS TO YOUR NAME YOU NEED A BETTER CAM THE AUDIO IS TERRIBLE ON THIS CAM IT SOUNDS i DUNNO MECHANICAL LIKE YOU HAVE A SMALLVOICE BOX..ONE OF YOUR SPONSORS NEEDS TO SPRING FOR YOU

A piece of rope down the spark plug hole would bind up the cylinder for you to torque that but
Good tip, thanks!
my Vespa PX 125 runs amazingly when cold… but cutting out when it is hot as its getting air when I throttle!!!!
Great video as always. If you get chance I would love to see your diagnosis of a clutch the makes a noise from the engine when you pull the lever
damaged key way on crank
Great video Robot!

Hello thanks for all your great videos. My question is this sort of the same for 1967 VLB1 ? Thanks
Actually mine is a question when ever the engine is running and that sideboard is mounted, automatically the engine stops normally the side where the engine is hanging.
At 7.00 you ground the spark plug on the painted flywheel cover ? ??
Do you have an email address? No body will work on vintage scooters here in Louisiana. Have p200e
Proper spark but my Vespa after 10km not even get start. What would be the problem.
I wonder if you could clarify something for me. The only purpose of the green wire that runs from the CDI to the kill switch and key switch is to allow you to kill the engine. With the green wire disconnected at the CDI, the scooter will run, but you have no easy way to turn it off. Is that correct?
Yes. You can either just stall it out with the clutch, or pull the plug cap, or turn off the fuel and let it run out.
👍👍👍
