Lucifer!!! The one that inspired other boy groups to have more complexed and synchronized choreo.. the one that started the trend of dance practice videos from other groups/artists too. Thanks for this reaction. Other suggestions: Dance versions of Your Number, Married to the Music, Love Like Oxygen
The "Lucifer" in SHINee's song (represented by the light trail or smoke you see in the MV) is supposed to be a girl who has devilish powers like Lucifer, who is trying to possess them and take over their lives. As the English lyrics say, "Loveaholic, robotronic ... her whisper is the Lucifer." (If you notice, they are using auto tune because they are supposed to be "robotronic"-ly controlled by the girl who is "The Lucifer." So the auto tune is meant to make them sound robotic.) In other words, the woman or girl they are talking about is so desirable that she is like Lucifer and you have to use all your willpower just to resist her wiles. In the choreography you see them trying to fight against her powers and resist her attempts to make them bend to her will, etc., that's why you see all the robotic moves because they are showing how "Lucifer" is trying to control them like a robot -- for example, they put their wrists together like they are being handcuffed to show how she is trapping them. And they vibrate to show how they are being manipulated by "Lucifer" and they are trying to resist her powers, etc. The part where you see Jonghyun standing still was because that is who you hear singing that part of the song. Jonghyun is one of the BEST vocalists in the industry, as well as Onew. During those parts of the song, Onew and Jonghyun were just pausing or slowing down because, for example, at that moment Jonghyun is belting one of the most epic high notes you will ever hear. A lot of SHINee's choreography is designed to allow for moments where the members flex their vocals. SHINee are some of the best vocalists in the business and they are known for, not only being impressive dancers, but having amazing stamina and vocal range. That's why they are able to perform this live while dancing this intensely and still sound flawless. Fun fact: Taemin's shirt is an iconic part of their "Lucifer" dance practice. He even brought the look back in 2017 in his "Move" dance practice video. When SM released the "Move" dance practice video, one of the first things Shawols always mentioned was how it brought back memories of "Lucifer." The trippy feeling you get from Taemin's shirt, isn't because of the video quality, it's just something about black and white strips that the camera has a hard time deciding what to do with the pattern. I have seen that same thing happen with black and white striped clothing and objects often in videos. "Lucifer" is actually know as one of the most difficult songs and dances to cover, even still today, because of its tutting and popping and for the fact that it has a very fast paced beat with dance moves that are very sharp and precise which are designed to hit every beat of the song. And the song itself is very complicated with the songs wide range of notes and its flow. Many amateurs have thought "Lucifer" looks like one of SHINee's more simple songs and dances. But the minute they try to sing the song and/or dance the choreography, they soon discover that it is way more complicated than they thought. It only looks and sounds simple, because SHINee makes it look that way. Check out this clip of SHINee teaching a group of actors and comedians "Lucifer" as part of a challenge on the variety show "Invincible Baseball Team," ruclips.net/video/0V02cQwYLMQ/видео.html. It's funny because when they came to meet SHINee to start the practice, Jonghyun asked them why they chose this song of all songs, and they said because it looks manly and they thought it was fairly easy to cover. But the first thing Jonghyun said to them, while laughing, was "oh no, actually it's one of our more difficult choreography and it took us extra time to really perfect it." :D SHINee started the synchronized dance trend. And they made the industry realize that if anyone else wanted to compete they needed to up their game. Just think, when Taemin joined SM at 11 he didn't even have any dance training -- up until then, all his skills were self-taught by watching dancers on TV shows -- and by the time he debuted less than 3 years later in 2008, he was already showing everyone that his skill level was on par with, or even surpassed, many professional dancers who had been dancing for years. That's just SHINee's natural talent. SM really hit gold when they formed this group, and I don't think it can ever be duplicated in the same way again. SHINee's "Lucifer" dance practice video was the very first dance practice video ever in the Kpop industry to be released specifically for fans. They had never made a dance practice video that wasn't just for them to watch, so to SHINee in 2010 this was just a dance practice, it wasn't a performance video like what you see in "dance practice" videos today. SHINee is the group that started the dance practice video trend, and they are why dance practice videos are even a thing today. :D This video was the very first dance practice video to go viral. Back then, dance practice videos were usually only filmed for the group and artists to watch to help them remember the moves and to fix mistakes, etc. They weren't intended for a mass audience, and it most definitely wasn't meant to be an MV quality production. But SM realized that fans were starting to copy SHINee's choreography, so they decided to film a dance practice and release it to the public. SHINee's dance practice videos became so popular that other companies and groups started to follow suit and show off their choreography by releasing dance practices too. Just another way, SHINee influenced the industry and changed Kpop forever. :D However, to SHINee, even still today, dance practices are really just dance practices. They save their energy for where it counts, for MVs and live performances. What you saw in their dance practice is only a fraction of what this dance is really like. They are experts when it comes to maintaining stable vocals while dancing 110% for hours on end. People never really understand why "Lucifer's"choreography gets so much hype, until they see SHINee perform it live. That is why SHINee are live performance legends. If you want to see where SHINee truly shines you have to watch their iconic performance of "Lucifer" Live in concert. To see them go full out and really blow you away with their talent, you need to see a live performance. Check out their performance at their SHINee World Concert III (SWC3) in Seoul from 2014, ruclips.net/video/Fm5n8Q2XO34/видео.html. Fun fact No.2: As you can see, "Lucifer" was before SM had their new fancy giant gold door dance practice room that all of their dance practices are now filmed in. Before that room was built, you always knew when it was an SM artist because of that iconic cloud wallpaper. The cloud background in all of SM's most iconic dance practice videos is classic SM.
Ha, ha, you wouldn’t slip traveling to the back if you were Taemin! This boy’s coordination is different level :) He usually changes positions real quick and has the most distance to cover in SHINee choreographies - Idk, maybe it’s because he’s the youngest or simply because he’s a main dancer and it was always his responsibility… Thanks so much for reacting to Lucifer, I absolutely love this dance - one of my favorite SHINee choreographies!
SHINee is magical, That shirt of Taemin, that hair of Key, Voice of Jonghyun, MAX energy // love this -- This was when dance practices were not shone much, if at all. Love SHINee.
Yes! SHINee's tutting was always on another level. This dance practice is a piece of history lol. As icons, SHINee is obviously going to have chair choreo in their repertoire. "Love Like Oxygen" is their 2nd single right after their debut. It's a throwback with super clean footwork. There's no dance practice, but there's a dance video: ruclips.net/video/1dYmMoUt66Q/видео.html

I'm really enjoying all these Shinee reactions. Their dancing is just unbelievable and I love seeing your shock at some of their moves.
