This is part of the reason why a lot of us are invested in this band. They have a few ways to suck you into their orbit, this here is one of them, the emotion that DPA has in their music. Just good people that happen to be rockstars.
MY GOD! i'm 63 and i swear... few artists i saw deliver this amount of emotions in a live performance! PAU is a very special girl, and I keep her in my heart because she is precious....
It was a whole complement of strings on Black Holes. I think it was violins, violas and cellos. Beautifully arranged. They also play on the next song after Breathe, Enter Sandman. I think doing Breathe was a surprise, even for Pau.
These two back to back is too much for me 😭 BH makes me emotional and Breathe turned me into a messy puddle of tears. What fabulous moment when 8000 people finish her song out of love for her it doesn't get any better than that so beautiful. All the best to you two get well soon thanks for combining these songs it makes the experience so much better. 🔥⚡
Hope you guys feel better soon. Both of these performances bring tears to my eyes no matter how many times I see them. The arrangement for Black Holes was a masterpiece for the ages.
Such a fantastic interaction between artist and audience! And we still have a very different version of Dany doing "When I'm Alone" coming. They are so special!
Sorry I missed the live stream. Apologies if I've made this comment on your channel before, but Pau literally taught me that it's OK for guys to cry. With these two songs, the tears always flow.
sorry i missed the livestream. Every song is a highlight but these two are simply special. Pau did try her best not to break but how could she not? seems appropiate to mention that i pretty much came out from the pepsi center with covid myself, besides being half deaf for the next 24 hours :p it was pretty miserable for the next week or so. feel better Glenn! feel better Adrian! take it easy guys.
Pau is an Entertainer. There are very few in this world but she is one. Some people pretend to be an entertainer but fail. Anytime I run across a song by Paulina, I have to watch.
that string arrangement in Black Holes was amazing, and making the Breathe video in black and white was just perfect. I'm 57 and I've seen that performance like 20 times already and still... noo... tteaaarrrss😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 it's just a little dust on my eyes, and someone chooping onions next to me, and.... 😭😭😭😭 I say, you don't shed at least one tear on watching Breathe, you are not human
Excellent, just excellent! My first show is Monday here in Pittsburgh. Smallest venue of the tour (380). The atmosphere should be incredible. Hope you and Adrian feel better soon!
I had a huge collection of ticket stubs going all the way back to Deep Purple in 1972 and dozens and dozens of shows going up to 1984 when i started working crew in Tampa/Orlando. So i had back stage passes for a few dozen more till i graduated from college in 1989. Moved to DC in 90 with a real interesting scene. Then i worked part time for a satellite broadcaster located in DC. Hint hint. But eventually that dried up. Then i moved back home to Austin TX. Tired of snow and high taxes. But i told you all of that to say this. 90 days after moving into a dream house in the woods, the fuckjng woods catch on fire. Burn everything to ashes. Only steel escaped. 2000 albums and CDs gone. Terabytes of board mixes from amazing acts that i cant mention. All gone. Plus all my stubs and back stage passes. But while insurance paid off, it couldnt replace those. But i have the memories. Seeing the Band on their last tour. Seeing Zep in 77. New years with ZZ Top.. a 4 hour show. Back stage with the Dead and U2 for the Joshua Tree album. I could go on and on. So for the 62 yo guy, those memories sustain me. My days of seeing live rock are pretty much over. I cant do crowds anymore. But God do i have great memories of seeing the best of music since the mid 70s. Cant beat that.
Somewhere someone commented that the friend dying story is just a story. Breathe and revenant are two songs the band has very little to say about that i've seen.
Yes, it is a rather new bit of lore, that is quite new to me. As far as I can tell, the only thing Pau has ever said on this subject, is that it's "a panic attack set to music". What triggered this panic attack is anybody's guess, but that is all it is, a guess.
Sorry to hear you and Adrian aren’t feeling well, get some rest and take care. Pau’s performance should be a balm for the soul which may even have some medicinal effects. I’m glad you had a great time in Boston, It has definitely had big changes. The concert was epic and thanks to Martin and the pic showing Adrian, I was able to spot my daughter and myself. Rock On!
Think this song was spur of the moment and not planned but she felt comfortable whit the fans so decided to do it. So not sure the string players knew or practiced that song. And since she never planned to play it live we might not see it again. I wonder if they werent asked for another song on error this song probably would have stayed private
My impression too. I actually think Pau with just the piano is the best way to take Breathe in. The B&W video is a nice touch to help with that feeling of isolation.
I'm not so sure how "spur of the moment" this was. If by that you mean a late addition to the set list, absolutely. But there is footage of Pau backstage before the show belting out "It's the same all the TIMEEEEEEEE!" to see if she could hit the note. She turns to the camera and states "Ok, I'm good" as if to reassure herself that he voice could handle the strain. So she and the crew knew going out there that she was going to sing Breathe.
@@mt4design2 I saw it on a RUclips short. I didn't see where it was from, sorry. I've also heard a rumor that Rudy had an ongoing bet with Pau that if they sold out the Pepsi Center, she would sing the song. Not sure if there's anything to that story or not.
In case you didn't know: Some of what Pau said before performing Breathe for the first and only time Live at a concert (paraphrasing): "Well this next song. I had said I was never going to play it live because it's a very personal song. But seeing you all gathered here... It's incredible to think there are 8000 people here right now, who love us. And honestly my voice is half sick and it's not great, but I want to sing this What she said when the audience started singing...."I need to sing this!" Pau wrote Breathe (year unknown). The Warning's record label Lava wanted 1 more song to add to their album 'Error" and asked Pau for her song; she agreed but only if she was never force to sing it live. Breathe was added to the album as a bonus track. IMO, performing in Mexico before their adoring fans of 8000, she felt compelled to show her appreciation by singing Breathe live for the 1st time and maybe only time. There have been several speculations as to why this song was so personal for Pau, but only Pau knows the reason.
I flew to Boston to see my daughters and my granddaughter a little over a month ago. While there, I rode on the subway, so I was exposedto several people. My youngest daughter came down with something just before I flew home. After getting back here I had whatever she had for a few days. Might have been Covid. It wasn't a standard-fare cold.
It's true, it's a highly contagious virus and we could have gotten it somewhere else. The concert seems the most likely place given how jam packed 1400 people were, but that's not conclusive. Covid is still very active in Mass.

It's really a personal decision, but worth noting it really isn't all that expensive compared to other major acts I would go see. M&G-wise, it's a bargain. It did mean we had to show up a few hours earlier - thinking we saw them about 4:30, then the opener started at 7. There was a line, but when they're headlining, I don't think it matters where you are in line, you'll get to see them. The show itself only cost 30-40 bucks and it was another 100 or so to get the M&G. I think the memory will last forever, not sure if we'll do it again or not, but I'm glad we did it this time. Just be ready to say thanks, get a signature and get a photo and all is good.
Hope your better but I should say that if you got a "booster" Covid shot a week before the concert then that is what gave you the sickness. Please let natural immunity do it's job. It has existed for thousands of years for a reason. Anyway, Pau really shines in ballads not only because she is very talented but because her voice is more pop sounding. I prefer Dany's fuller Rock voice overall but this teally fits Pau.
Black Holes was amazing, but Breathe.... What a special moment in time. Such a tiny person with an enormous heart.
