  • Rasti, rasti , moj zeleni bore /Serbian traditional song, from the movie Savior 1998
The old folk song "Rasti, Rasti, moj zeleni bore" was first time written in the 19th century in the village of Nerodimlje, where the Nemanjići dynasty ruled in the Middle Ages. And it refers to two old munika pine trees, one the hand of King Milutin and the other of Emperor Dušan. Many games and songs were sung around these tall pine trees. Branislav Nušić recorded this song and many other songs of local population in his writings while staying in Nerodimlje as vice consul in Priština. Like many other ethnomusicologists who stayed and recorded old Serbian folk songs and dances in Kosovo and Metohija... The theme of the song is the longing of a young girl for her beloved, who has gone somewhere and will not return. Whether it refers to the war or the journey without return, resettlement or migration.
