    Great tutorial! Loved how you used pins to punch thru and create the curve. Is elastic bias tape the same as fold over elastic? What size did you use and and where would you suggest purchasing? Is this your preferred binding for panties?

    • @JAMSewingAcademy
      @JAMSewingAcademy  3 года назад +4

      Thank you Pam! Yes, I think it is just another name for fold over elastic. Mine is 1/2 inch wide (or about 1sm). I bought it in a local sewing supply store, but you can find it online or in your local sewing stores. Just make sure it’s soft and not rigid, so it will be comfortable to wear for hours. I will try to find even softer elastic for my next panties project! Good luck and Happy Holidays!

    Thank you for demonstrating copying the panties. It was difficult to see difference in right and wrong side of fabric. Everything easily understood until actual sewing of elastic. Did you fold the elastic over the edge of waist and legs? Or was it only applied to the right side of waist and legs, leaving wrong side uncovered?

    • @JAMSewingAcademy
      @JAMSewingAcademy  3 года назад +1

      Hello JoJo! This fabric doesn’t have a big difference between right and wrong sides.
      In general this type of knit fabrics have very slightly different wrong and right sides so you just need to make sure that you are putting fabrics with correct sides together before stitching.
      And yes, I fold this “fold over” elastic over the edges of waist and legs!
      Hope it helped! ✨🌸🤗

      Hello Louise! You need to put right sides of the front and back parts together, and then put the right side of the gusset to the wrong side of the back. Then, when you stitch all three layers and flip the gusset towards the front- the seam will be hidden inside.

    • @JAMSewingAcademy

    Thank you for this video! You gave me so much inspiration! Just curious do you ever use stretchy tread as well or only regular one?

    • @JAMSewingAcademy
      @JAMSewingAcademy  3 года назад +3

      O thank you very much for your feedback! I am very happy it inspires your creativity!
      🧵Of course you can use stretchy thread. It will work perfect for overlock stitching.
      But for straight stitching on domestic machines this thread will not work, since it requires “chain” type of stitching. So the best way to make the seam stretchy on a regular domestic sewing machine is to use zigzag stitching. Even a small size of zigzag will make the seam stretchy. And for this purpose you can use regular threads, just make sure you use a proper thread size (40 or thinner), depending on the weight of the fabric you use. And ball point/stretchy needle type, size 90/14 or thinner( 80/12).
