      Every aspect of everyone's life is primarily a personal decision. This is the fundamental fact, that wokeness ignores or denies. It paints a picture that all Black people's problems as individuals and as a group, are primarily, if not totally the external forces of racism, in all its form, generally referred to as 'White supremacy" and systemic and structural racism. This is a losing strategy, for the attainment of positive change, and improvement in and of the lives of Black people.

    • @siriuslyspeaking9720
      @siriuslyspeaking9720 Месяц назад

      That being said, every person on the planet has problems, that exist to some degree, because of the actions of a person/people somewhere else on the plant, in fact everyone can have problems, because of the act of anything that exist on the planet, and in the universe. We are undoubtedly linked. We exist in a state of interconnectedness, and degrees of interdependence. Our immaturity as a specie, makes is act in disharmony, with the rest of the planet/universe, and more fundamentally with each other. As a group, Black-Americans are arguably the most dysfunctional people, who identify as a group. Only that can explain how so many of us (the woke) can expect other people to be more proactive (anti-racist) for our benefit, than we act for our own benefit.

  • @tickledpinkinmd
    @tickledpinkinmd Месяц назад +13

    Governor Moore, please know that you are absolutely the greatest blessing that Maryland could’ve asked for. We are DEFINITELY in need of change!! You definitely have the mindset needed to address the issues that plague our beautiful state and help us ALL thrive. The very first issue that comes to mind is that: Baltimore deserves better and it’s truly sad that anyone would allow it to get to this point economically, aesthetically, residentially, and domestically. How does one drive through this everyday and step outside of your office doorstep where heroin addicted and homeless families literally sleep and beg for money, yet you tease ineffective or implement no policy to influence change over decades? It’s clear that I feel very strong about the obvious, 😢neglectful, reactive vs. proactive approach by the both the city of Baltimore and prior state of Maryland administrations thus far, so I’ll just leave that issue where it is. Anyway, for context I was born and bred here from PG county in a mid to low (mixed) income neighborhood with a high crime rate. After moving away from MD during some of my adult years, I now reside in a county 30 min outside Baltimore, which is a change for us (I’m a DC girl through and through), but is much nicer in comparison to the neighborhood in PG county and given it’s current state (still higher than I prefer, despite a statistical decline in crime rates), we made the best choice for our needs. The trade off is a considerable higher cost of housing and higher taxes. We also chose our new location to make travel to Baltimore easier where I get medical care and one of my children now goes to college which is in or adjacent to some of the toughest neighborhoods. My child chose a HBCU intentionally and unfortunately most are notoriously located in or around low-income or poverty stricken neighborhoods with high crime rates. I will say that I have recently seen changes in Baltimore as it pertains to the highly visibility of the heroin, fentanyl, and “tent city” problem in Baltimore. The “squeegee kids” aggressively wanting to wash windows are few and far between now vs. the nuisance I used to encounter at almost every major intersection. While I admittedly don’t know the exact statistics on the current drug overdose rate, I can confidently assert that it is either comparatively or higher STILL at an alarming rate regarding Fentanyl use (usually unknowingly). Overdoses are affecting both adults and children in homes and schools at an alarming rate and still needs to be addressed. I am seeing more arrests associated with the major issue associated with carjackings most notably plaguing PG county, spilling over into Montgomery county, and Anne Arundel county. The marijuana legislation and pardons is historic and once the various intricacies associated with expungement and such are addressed will allow for those who choose to get into the workforce and be productive the opportunity to contribute to our growing economy and improve their (and perhaps their family’s) quality of life. The “Blueprint” for teachers is spectacular and is a needed incentive for teachers coming in and who are literally working to shape the lives and prepare our children for life beyond their primary years. Some risk their lives everyday teaching both teenage and young adult (18-19) students who are drug dealers, gang members, etc. who sometimes can be threatening in the classroom, yet teachers must turn a blind eye to things or do their best to descalte high tension situations without administration support at times. All of this is done while remaining composed and continuing to teach those who actually came to learn. My husband works in the education system and is widely-aware of the unfortunate increase in student overdoses in the schools. Teachers have had to undergo training to effectively address this issue should they encounter this situation. I personally never understood why so many fundamentals changed for students? The system worked just fine! I agree that IMPROVEMENTS were needed like any large program, but not a full overhaul. Here are a few concerns with the state of youth today (that will become adults) and I strongly believe one source of the issue is the structure of our academic system. 1) Why change the full day of 7-8 shorter periods (i.e., a variety or classes) that keep kids moving and interested vs. 4 long (sometimes boring and monotonous) was changed? Longer class times gives them time to engage in (non-productive) activities that they normally wouldn’t have the time to do, the content can, be store and boring, it may be a lot to consume at one time, and for children with learning disabilities it can in some cases be difficult to sit and focus for long periods of time. 2) After school programs have been almost eliminated unless they procure their own funding. When children have nothing to keep their interest; i.e. no community center activities or after school clubs or activities to participate in, many have ended up hanging out on the street and some have gotten mixed up with the wrong crowd as a result of a broken system. 3) The educational system teaches our children that sports is KING and those kids matter because it brings in funding for the school if they’re a winning team. They’ll even get passing grades in some instances when they aren’t deserving. Teachers are also forced to grade under ridiculous rules that give students points when they haven’t participated, etc. 4) Students no longer respect teacher authority because the grading and classroom policies have been modified in ways that give the child a sense of superiority. Thus, there is often a sense of entitlement that reinforces what I personally feel this new generation’s already asserts. You are absolutely on point about your POV regarding planning and policy Governor, your perception of how policy must address issues holistically to be effective is critical. One cannot realistically expect to produce effective results by using a piecemeal approach. If you’re a doctor and your patient has a systemic infection are you going to treat them with an antibiotic that is only effective for skin infections? Or do you give them an antibiotic and whatever else is necessary to ensure the infection is fully controlled and doesn’t come back so they can remain functional and infection free forever? The same applies for someone who is poverty stricken. I’ve had family members who are working class, but need help and only qualify for the bare minimum help or the guidelines say they make too much and they can barely keep food on the table because of inflation. In a nutshell, it is my sincerest hope that Governor Moore and Madam Vice President Harris can help improve the impoverished within our state, address the severe addiction and overdose epidemic that includes a plan that specifically addresses the special needs of our youth, and continue to address the logistics involved with the mass marijuana pardons so that all can be free and have their record successfully expunged to live productive lives. In addition, as a disabled woman who was forced to retire unexpectedly at 38, it is my hope that the criteria for Medicaid and its waivers are extended to include people with higher wages. In contrast, as a Medicare recipient, I have many medical expenses that make having the federal benefit Medicare vs the state benefit Medicaid unfeasible and completely out of reach. I’m in desperate need of a caregiver, but Medicare doesn’t cover that benefit, however Medicaid does. I can’t afford the additional out of pocket cost when medications alone at times can run over $600 a month. Expanding the provisions in Medicaid or Medicare would truly be life changing. Lastly, any funding for housing would also be helpful now to offset the 3% purchase price expense that buyers are now forced to pay realtors when purchasing a home would also be helpful.

    Glad he mentioned the issue of guns. I moved to MD from FL two years ago. I found the process of getting your license to carry in MD so much more difficult than getting your license to carry in FL (before FL was a "Permitless Carry" state). In fact, there are so many things that deter you from pursuing that process. For example, the state of MD's website is so vague regarding procedures and the customer service telephone line seems to be understaffed and the workers seem to be unknowledgeable. When you submit an application, you almost never get a response about next steps, needed corrections, or application status. I believe this is intentional. In fact, over the past two years, multiple gun laws in Maryland have been overturned or changed citing the unconstitutionality of said laws. Irregardless of these problems, I am happy to know that violent crime is down, especially in Baltimore. While I do not live in Baltimore, I have visited a few times and see the devastation of communities within that city due to crime, drugs, and lack of investment. I hope to see Baltimore thrive once more like decades ago.

    Jamaican blood 🩸 goes a long way when given the opportunity to make a stand and there was just something in his presentation that I could relate to.
    Every word he speaks makes authentic statements that’s not debatable by anyone with a reasonable amount of intellect and integrity.
