  • This is a video of myself riding the MTR West Island Line (港鐵西港島線), an extension of the Island Line (港鐵港島線) between Sheung Wan (上環) and Kennedy Town, on the opening date (28th December, 2014) as well! The extension passes through Sai Ying Pun (西營盤) and HKU (香港大學) stations along the way.
HKU Station is the deepest station of the MTR system, built 70 meters beneath Pokfulam Road. A set of high speed lifts link the station with the surface.
Sai Ying Pun station is currently not open yet, and will be open as late as Q1 2015 or March 2015. Therefore, the train will skip through that station, which is completely boarded up as it currently stands. Let's hope MTR hurries up!

This is not the West Island Line. This is the Island Line.

Well, the project was referred to as the "West Island Line" when it was under construction. Probably because the "South Island Line (West)" wasn't under serious consideration back then.

Fortunately, that line goes near somewhere I frequent in Hong Kong, so it would not be hard for me to finally make a video of it.
